Very enjoyable and worth the visit. Cozy decor and wonderful wine selection. Very attentive staff and the steak was delicious. Scallops were also very tasty. Definitely call for a reservation. Highly recommended.

Google
my pics dont do the steak justice! it was so tender and good, with the biggest fillet option you def dont need sides. the ambience is nice, the staff very attentive (even when i asked about a dish after my visit via mail they got right back to me) - sadly i cant afford the more expensive wines, but i got plenty for my money there, from steak to beer to cocktails. will definitely visit again, was one of my highlights in dublin

Food was a little underwhelming. We ordered the Porterhouse it arrived very quickly and wasn’t very evenly cooked (we ordered medium rare). The sides were nice. Cocktails were lovely. Service was very attentive.

1 star – unacceptable service from a rude and discriminatory waitress We visited this restaurant as a large group of Chinese guests. While we have no complaints about the food, the service we received from one waitress—an older white woman with blonde hair and a noticeable accent—was shockingly unprofessional and deeply offensive. When we politely asked for the dessert menu (while our finished plates were still on the table), the waitress became visibly irritated. Instead of responding respectfully, she sarcastically asked, “How do you want me to put the menu—on the plates?” She then proceeded to place the menu on top of one of our guests’ heads, mockingly saying, “Do you want me to put the menu here?” This behavior was not only inappropriate but humiliating. She continued to single out guests, making comments like, “What’s your country’s culture? I want to learn,” and, “Do you order when the plates are still on the table?”—remarks that were clearly passive-aggressive and racially charged. As customers, we came for a pleasant dinner, not to be ridiculed or subjected to such disrespect. A simple, courteous response such as “We’ll bring the dessert menu shortly” would have sufficed. This experience left us feeling embarrassed and deeply uncomfortable. We hope the restaurant takes this seriously. No guest should be treated this way.

We always pop in for special occasions and are always treated so well. The staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. The food is outstanding and the cocktails are delicious. My favourite spot to dine steak in Dublin.

Google
Absolutely phenomenal experience at F.X. Buckley on Pembroke Street. The steaks were cooked to perfection—juicy, tender, and packed with flavour. The staff were incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, offering great wine pairings and making sure everything was spot on throughout the evening. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between upscale and welcoming. Easily one of the best steakhouses in Dublin. Highly recommended!

Google
Great food! Great location from my hotel. Nice people :) I chanced upon this gem whilst exploring the city. It was a late lunch for me but god did they make it awesome and memorable for me. Danielle, the restaurant manager was super lovely, she got the chef to gift me a free crème brûlée for my birthday! I really appreciate it!

Yelp
A better than average steakhouse but food was oversalted to the extreme. Food: order the chateaubriand for two. Steak was good but not exceptional. And it was far too salted. The meal also included a variety of sides such as mashed potatoes, fries, cooked onions, and sauteed mushrooms. Most of the sides were far too salty. Service: Good service, except at the end of the meal everyone disappeared. We had to flag someone down and ask for the check. Ambiance: extremely dark (so much so it was very hard to read the menu), cozy, blend of folksy and classic steakhouse Value: Given the quality of the steak, mediocre value Overall cleanliness: above average Bathroom cleanliness: above average

Yelp
This is according to many blogs #1 steakhouse in Dublin and #6 world. I am a Texan and would say this is a good steak and recommend to come but not the best. I would recommend for a special occasion because it is lovely but personally would not come back. Reservations: required if you want a seat. I booked 1 week before arrival to Dublin and only 5:15 and 5:30 were available. I got 5:15 reservation and was respectful requested to leave by 7pm. Service: they do come by and try to push you to order food and drinks quickly. We were not too hungry and took our time. Multiply waiters work your table. But once we ordered and got our food, waiters disappeared and trying to get our bill at 6:50 was a bit hard since no server was around or they were trying to not make eye contact. Food: ordered the Chateaubriand. It came with quite a generous amount of sides: mashed potatoes, fries (chips), green beans and broccoli, mushrooms, onions, 4 sauces. We ordered medium-rare. The beef was cooked properly, I got the more cooked end pieces and husband got the more rare. The mashed potatoes were so salty that I could not eat them. The onions were too salty too, so just tried them. The mushrooms were decent but bit overcooked but tasty. The green beans were perfectly cooked. The broccoli was barely cooked through just the way I like it. All 4 sauces were ok but did not complement the meat. We just ate our steak plain with veggies and fries. There were so hits and misses in the overall meal. Torn between 3/4 stars. Bathroom: upstairs and above average clean.

Yelp
After hearing & reading about the joint, I expected a ritzy super high end Steak House.. it's really not at all! I thought they had some stuff that was really well done and some that was just average. Keep in mind they have like 5-6 locations in Dublin! All beef is 100% Irish from Traditional breeds & dry aged for at least 28 days they said. Started out with some Cabernet but they have a VERY extensive Wine Program. Menu is rather large with like a dozen starters from Local Oysters to Devilled Lamb Kidneys, many cuts of Steaks, a few fish offerings and sides. Wasn't starving after drinking Guinness all day so just kept it simple... 8 Oz Filet w pepper sauce/ Beef dripping chips/ Caramelised onions. The Filet is more thick than wide so more like a nugget cooked over coal & wood they said. Cooked perfectly and the Pepper sauce was a good kicker! The Potatoes & Onions made it almost a perfect combination. Dessert menu seemed lacking & I couldn't decide on anything here so I got the Famous Irish Coffee. This may have been one of the best thing I tasted on the entire trip! Double shot of Espresso, Paddy Whiskey, Cream and topped with fresh Nutmeg.. it was so good I almost ordered a second round. Service is a little on the dry side but they get the job done! Must try in Dublin/ talk later

Yelp
We had an unreal time dining here at F.X Buckley. The staff were all so friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. The steaks were all cooked to perfection and so delicious. I highly recommend checking this spot out.

Yelp
After seeing the butcher shop and finding out that they had restaurants as well we decided to make a reservation and have dinner here. Since it was out first visit we went a little overboard and ordered too much, but it was so good that we forced ourselves to eat it all. Oysters, Porterhouse Steak, Chips and Mash, Mushrooms and Onions, and Asparagus. Oh so good, Make reservations and you will not be disappointed. The food is fantastic and the service is phenomenal.

Yelp
Booked a Sunday lunch reservation after researching the best spots in Dublin to experience a traditional Sunday roast. Arrived a few minutes before the restaurant opened and was warmly greeted and invited to sit and have a cocktail in their beautiful bar area. The space is gorgeous! Cozy and classic. The cocktails- a Bloody Mary and a smoked old fashioned were perfect. After sitting down our waiter went over the menu- which included not only the Sunday roast option, but all of their steaks (which are supposedly the best in Ireland). We decided after this that we just couldn't limit ourselves to the Sunday roast as this would be our only opportunity to try their steaks this trip. We settled on the Kilkeel Lobster Ravioli to start, followed by the Cote de Boeuf for two (which came with all four sauces, mashed potatoes, fries, caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, and a mix of broccolini, asparagus, and green beans). We also chose a lovely red wine to accompany the delicious food. Everything was spectacular and full of flavor! We loved the taste of the charcoal on the steak which was perfectly cooked. Finished out the meal with macchiatos and the cheesecake- also delicious! We couldn't finish the wine, but they graciously corked it for us and included it for us to take home with our leftovers. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant if you're looking for a truly epic steak in a classic and cozy setting! There are several other restaurants run by FX Buckley around Dublin. They all look great too!

Yelp
Came here with a group of 7. Interior was really dark. Servers are expedient-they know their stuff and they get you your answers, drink and food quickly. The sides (creamed spinach, frites) complimented our steaks nicely. I was fairly full so I skipped dessert but those who did have them enjoyed the cheesecake. I also abstained from alcohol but the old fashion presentation was a sight to behold. Steak was good but did require more chewing than I anticipated for medium.

Nicole W.

Yelp
Sincerely enjoyed the ambiance of FX Buckley. Be sure to get there early for a pre-dinner drink! The food was great. Not the best steak I've ever had, but a very enjoyable experience with fantastic service.

Stephanie H.

Yelp
This is considered number 6 or 7 in Top Steakhouses in the world? Sorry, but with a title as grand as that you would expect a perfectly cooked steak. I asked for medium rare, more to the rare side and it came out medium done. Yuck! Service was as expected. The server was not particularly chatty though on a weekday. Due to the misfire in cooking the manger compensated a cocktail. Ambiance was dark and earthy. Reminded me of any old world steakhouse. The good part was the bottle of wine which the restaurant sources directly from Italy and the sweet breads.

Rich B.

Yelp
We were encouraged by so many locals to enjoy an Irish steak at FX and we're glad we did! The staff were attentive, the steaks were the best we've ever eaten. We understand why...the days before we had toured the farms and fields of western Ireland and it's light years better than back home.

Yelp
Amazing!! I visited in Feb 2024, on a trip to Dublin from the US. FX Buckley was not on my to-do list, but was recommended to me by my hotel (shout out to the Merrion- see my review on them!) and thank goodness!! Luckily, I was able to get an early reservation as reservations are tough to come by, so plan ahead! The Dublin location is intimate in its seating. The decor is what you would expect from a world class steakhouse, although the entrance had New Orleans vibes, and the chop knife door handle was a nice touch! They started as a butcher, and their butcher shop is next door so that you can see the cuts of meat as you walk to enter. I read reviews before I came referencing service challenges and have to say I was a tad nervous. My fears were completely unfounded; my service was superior! I arrived a tad early and they were able and happy to seat me early. A party of one, I had a nice corner table but unfortunately it was across from a party of two where the male guest was rather loudly walking his way through all the curse words in the english language. I left my table to get a break and was immediately asked if I needed any assistance; when I explained my situation, I was immediately offered another table, which I declined as I liked where I was seated. In response, the staff made sure to repeatedly go to "check" on the guests at the offending table, winking at me as they went by, which had the intended result of lowering their volume and clearing (at least somewhat) the vocabulary. Exemplary customer service all around!! Now, to be honest, this may not have played out the same at the height of the dinner rush when no other tables are available and all attention is needed elsewhere, but as patrons we need to recognize the demands of the business and gage and judge accordingly. NO WAY did an establishment with poor a customer service orientation give the service I experienced where both parties were well treated. Now to the main course (ha!) the steak!! My GOD. They are rated 6th worldwide, and I just wanna know who got slots 1-5?!! I started with a cauliflower soup (EXCELLENT!!!) followed by the mid sized ribeye and Lawd!! That was by FAR the best steak I have had, bar none-and I have been to many a well rated steakhouse. The char flavor was outstanding and although I added mashed potatoes to my order, the steak-plated alone as it deserved-was enough. I cut it thin as I could just to make it last! Superior service, followed by extraordinary food, in a historic and top, globally rated resturant! I'd almost fly back to Dublin just to have dinner there again! I can't explain why it wasn't originally on my 'Must Do' list; don't make my mistake-be sure to put it on yours! Five ecstatic stars!

Mike B.

Yelp
On our recent trip to Ireland, a big checklist item for me was a tomahawk steak. Basically a ribeye steak, still on the bone. This place has them, and they're very good. The pepper sauce was very good, and the beef dripping chips and onion rings were also good. My wife had the cauliflower soup, and was a big fan of it. Prices were not as bad as I thought they might be, and I thought the Guinness price was pretty good. I can the tomahawk off my list now, and might try that again on the next trip to Ireland.

Daniel S.

Yelp
Great food, great service, great ambiance. We were visiting from America and enjoyed our meal. However another group and was extremely loud and drunk, staff said they could not do anything or ask them to be respectful. For this reason we cut our visit short.

Mike G.

Yelp
Very highly rated and pricey. We had two different kinds of steak and I found them to be tough and chewy. Expected more given the reputation. The place itself is cool and very crowded. Maybe we were an exception but not up to billing.

Billy S.

Yelp
Very nice and knowledgeable staff. I loved how they brought out the display of various cuts of steak and explain the different options to you.

Heber P.

Yelp
This was a cool little steakhouse. I really enjoyed the food. We had; Short Rib nugget- Small but tasty Roasted Scallops- Delicious Charcuterie Board- it was ok, the meats weren't so tasty Ribeye- phenomenal Cream spinach- it was ok Cream Mash Potatoes- good

Mike M.

Yelp
Best steak ever. Period. My wife and I were visiting from California and split the porterhouse which was cooked to perfection. The chips were golden brown delicious and the Irish hospitality was second to none. I'd give 10 stars if I could!

Maria G.

Yelp
Where to start! The ambience is cozy and feels upscale without being snooty. All the staff was knowledgeable and kind. We shared a porter house will all of the sides and sauces. Yum! The bone marrow sauce is perfect. We had the Black Forest cheesecake for dessert and it was delicious! The smoked old fashioned and their non-alcoholic wine are both good drink picks.

Casey O.

Yelp
A must-visit in Dublin. Hands down the best steak I've ever had. Truly an incredible experience. Service was great as well.

David J.

Yelp
Best meal in all of Dublin. The food is great. Make a reservation ahead of time as it it small they can only fit 8-9 tables in the small shop. Well worth the wait to get in for legit good food in a classy family type place.

Kristen F.

Yelp
Stopped here for a few quick appetizers before our later dinner. The wine list is extensive and the cured meats looked amazing. We ordered: cured salmon, a dozen raw oysters and the bone marrow. The oysters were ok, very plain. But the stars of the show were the bone marrow and the cured salmon. The salmon was made perfectly and served with a lemon wedge and a potato side. It didn't taste fishy and it had a beautiful smoked flavor. The bone marrow was buttery and rich. I've never had it before but it was served with bread and I used it like a spread. Omg, I dream about it. The restaurant was very busy for 3 PM in the afternoon. I would suggest making reservations if you plan to go there for dinner. I'm giving 4 stars as I felt like we weren't really catered to as customers because we didn't get full meals. We had to ask for our bill 3 times before someone finally brought it to us. We got complementary limoncello for the wait.

Yelp
I have been to Dublin several times over the years and have never been that impressed with the local sustenance options. I try to avoid excessive carbs so potatoes, breaded fish and beer as the local staples are a tough swallow for me whenever I am there. On my most recent visit, I was committed to trying to find something more than pub food that would not break the bank and while walking around the area near my hotel, I came across several small eateries and shops near the Earlsfort Terrace neighborhood including FX Buckley. I actually waked right by it the first time because it was set back behind a small outdoor seating courtyard that was deserted (it was a cold, gloomy evening) and I thought the place was closed or just another modern pub awaiting the later crowd. What drew me in was seeing the posted menu near the walkway. It became obvious that this was a steakhouse and an interesting one at that. There were 2 things that really got me to walk in: First, it was early for Euro standards (around 6pm) and they had a prix fixe menu that was a relative bargain where you could select either 2 or 3 courses and there were several options for each course. Second, one of the choices as a starter was Deviled Lamb's Kidneys. I never say "no" to offal. There is something about being in foreign countries and eating what used to be considered the worst parts of the animal that have had to be developed into something tasty and edible that, for me, really allows me to understand the local culture. Every culture has their own version of offal preparation and they are all different that it has become my standard cultural immersion technique to order some whenever I am traveling abroad. (Think about it: Europe, Asia, So America, etc. all have some version of Tripe, Blood Sausage, Sweetbreads, Liver, etc.) Sure, some I have liked better than others but all have their merits as long a you are not a hippie vegetarian. Needless to say, they had me at "Kidneys" and I walked in to find a 2 level place. Upstairs is more formal seating, downstairs is a small bar and more informal area. I noticed immediately that in the bar area where I got a table, there is a glass cooler with a lot of beef dry aging to a brown, funky perfection. They clearly take great pride in this and it is very much worth a look if you visit to better understand this process. I also like how they put several visual descriptors on the wall of what part of the animal certain cuts come from. How about the food? I opted for 2 courses (the 3rd optional course would have been desert). Started with the Deviled Lamb Kidneys which were very tasty. Slightly smoky, tender and sauced just right. I am sure that they are not for everyone but I thought they were really quite good. I've only had kidneys once before in Athens at a local spit-BBQ spot that my Greek hosts swore by and I did not enjoy those because they were tough, leathery and really tasted like gamy charcoal. These were completely the opposite and were succulent and fork tender with an earthy aftertaste. There were mushrooms also in the dish and it was tough to tell the kidneys apart from the mushrooms in taste and texture. I also ordered an aged sirloin steak (additional $5.95 Euro uncharge from the offered aged rump steak) and it came with some double cooked chips. The steak was perfectly med rare and the chips were great. For a low carb enthusiast they were tough to not plow through the entire serving! All in all, I really liked the food and the atmosphere here as well as the early bird pricing. I'm sure I offended every European there by eating dinner so early but the 7 hour time difference makes me very tired by the end of the day and I wanted nothing more than a good meal and an early nap. This place delivered the meal for sure and is a really nice option when you are looking for something very solid in Dublin.

Mary M.

Yelp
Was there tonight- such an awesome meal. Staff were great. Very atmospheric. Best steak in Dublin

Juliana M.

Yelp
I've been there to try their early birds menu and even though the food was good the portions were very small. The steak was good but not amazing as people had described to me and it was really tiny. I will probably give a try to the normal menu, but not excited for it. I

Yelp
Arrived early for a 6:30pm reservation, so I sat at the bar and had a Guinness. The decor is old world. It fits the steak house menu perfectly. When my colleagues arrived, we were seated promptly and ordered a nice Malbec to accompany our steaks. We all started with the lamb kidneys - this is a specialty of the house. They are incredibly delicious. The kidneys are a must have when visiting FX Buckley. We ordered 2 10 oz rib eyes and a T-bone. All were perfectly cooked. The steaks were accompanied with hollandaise sauce and a potato - mashed, chips, etc. We also ordered a side of mushrooms to share. Everything was fabulous. The Staff was attentive and courteous. At the table next to us, a women dropped her ring which rolled under the bench seating. One of the servers crawled under the table to recover the ring. Clearly, they are ready to assist the customer in any way. Highly recommended.

Buddha B.

Yelp
Possibly my favorite steakhouse in Dublin. I like it more than Shanahan's and a few others I've tried around the area. Good quality meat and friendly service. Also, it's a more casual, less stuffy atmosphere, but that definitely depends on your preference.

Brad G.

Yelp
I came to realize that you walk a lot in Europe and it rains alot in Ireland. So when I started off to this place I checked yelp and the yelp family did not steer me wrong. This is a true steakhouse that was so well done that I expected the prices to be much higher. The medium rare steak was tender and juicy. The staff was there anytime you needed something but did not hover. This place was well worth the walk in any weather and was one of the best meals i had the entire time I was in europe.

June W.

Yelp
Had a team dinner here last week, with 16 people. The service was great. I had the 10 oz rib eye steak with the creamy mashed potato, the caesar salad (with smoked bacon!), and the double chocolate ganache with praline, raspberries, and Valrhona chocolate sauce. The mashed potato with the spring onion was so creamy and tasty. The rib eye was good, but there was a big stripe of fat in the middle of the steak that didn't seem to be well cooked. The steak didn't seem to have the marbling I'm used to, but maybe this is what Irish beef is like. Good, just different. The salad was great, and the bacon was a nice addition. And the dessert - wow! So tasty, and perfect texture. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Dublin.

Melissa L.

Yelp
A fantastic find for the steak lovers!! My fiancé, cousin and our friends absolutely loved their steak! They even went as far as to say new year steak houses didn't even compare! I, on the other hand, don't eat steak and got the halibut. It was a little over cooked and dry, but I ate the whole thing. I wouldn't order it again, but there weren't many non meat options here. Also, there's no AC so we were pretty warm the whole timen

Corina R.

Yelp
One of the best steakhouses in Dublin. The staff is so attentive and professional. We started with the Caesar salad, breads and dips. We ordered the porterhouse for two, it came with about five sides. It actually could be shared between three people. It was an amazing cut of meat. Dessert of chocolate tart was mediocre at best, but not that important. Went for the 28 day aged beef.

Jeff W.

Yelp
Amazing ambience and fair prices with an educated staff. Best steak in Dublin. Really great specials and fabulous wine by the glass selection 80's music makes it even better!!!

Stephen H.

Yelp
Met a friend here for a lunch and had a good steak, but an even longer conversation. We didn't get out of there until 3:30 or so, and we had arrived at 12:30. Special thanks to the staff who were already friendly, but never made us feel like we needed to get out, even though we clearly were the last ones before they finished up the lunch shift. Moderately priced.

Marco B.

Yelp
I love steak as anyone can see from most of my reviews! Having researched the good spread of steak options in Dublin extensively, I plumped for FX Buckley over others because of these reasons: 1. The diversity of DRY AGED meat cuts 2. The size options of said steak cuts 3. The selection sides In all three areas, FX Buckley ticked the boxes for me. If I'm right, this was a former butcher which has turned its hand at the steak restaurant business. I dined with three others and we all gave the quality of the meat the thumbs up. I went for an 18oz ribeye... It was HUGE and perfectly cooked with a sear to medium rare and a lovely texture. The sides portions were equally healthy in size... I opted for creamed spinach, mac n cheese and truffle Parmesan chips. The only slight disappointment was the mac n cheese which while perfectly nice, lacked depth. I also had to ask for more truffle on the chips, which was no problem - delicious. The Cajun onion rings are something to behold too... I loved them; crispy, not too greasy and served as an enormous portion in a salad bowl that would easily feed four people!! That is quite impressive for one side given how much I can tuck away! I also got to sample the mash - but the truffle chips probably edge it for me. The wine list is OK and there is some good value at the top end of the list, where the mark-up is very reasonable. I also loved the decor - an Irish spin on a traditional steakhouse. A bit like a smaller Goodman (for any London steak lovers). And I also loved the meat fridge - showcasing dry aged hunks of beef - all very American. Definitely coming back when I'm next in Dublin.

Yelp
Came here a couple of nights ago. Ordered 4 steaks & some sides. Out of the 3 steaks we ordered medium-rare only one was medium-rare. The other ones were medium to medium-well. I'm shocked by this at a steakhouse. Isn't the essence of a good steakhouse to know how to cook your steak? I also strongly dislike the fact they are sending me unwanted emails after my reservation I left my email for. The sides were delicious. Too bad the steak wasn't the same quality.

Michael G.

Yelp
Top 1% of Steak Houses in Dublin. I have been to this location 3 times now and every time the quality is as high as ever. If you like meat and want an experience go here. I brought my father who accidentally forgot his glasses- I tried my best to explain the different Steak options (Rump, Sirloin, T- Bone) but the best way to explain is to see it with your own eyes so the waiter happily brought out a platter of pre cooked steaks! Just seeing these massive lumps of carved meat before your eyes is enough to put you into a meat sweat. The waiters are extremely knowledgable and also very personable. They are fun without being over bearing. I had the Sirloin on the bone for about €27 with mash potatoes and onions. WHAT A DINNER! I am glad I did not get a starter as there was more than enough in this. They have an early bird menu which was extremely cheap- 2 courses for €22. FX Buckleys has the hallmarks of a famous New York steak house except it's irishness manages to keep it much more sensible!

Orla L.

Yelp
My boyfriend has ruined my experience of steakhouses coz he cooks the most amazing steak but fxb's is still a place I love. Always love the steak here and the accompaniments are amazing. Parmesan chips among them and yummy onion rings. The staff are always friendly and I have always got a table no matter what day. Top notch food. The sundry roast disappointed me a bit, only because I love my nicely done veg and it didn't come with much. The beef was amazing though.

Dan O.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Their fillets are to die for. The only drawback is it's a little pricey. But I highly recommend it

Shelley O.

Yelp
I decided to treat Hubby to dinner here last night for our Anniversary. Good decision! First of all, I booked online, which for me is a huge bonus. I make as few phone calls as I possibly can, so this made me happy! We ordered a cocktail to start with, and they were good. I had the Prosecco one, and it was delicious. Deceptively strong as well, I'd say a couple of these would have me under the table! I sprang for a good bottle of red, and was pleased that they understood that we wanted the wine opened right away, and surprised that they actually decanted it. It was worth every cent. The table next to us ordered a cheaper wine and it wasn't decanted, so thinking they only do this for certain wines? (Don't want people complaining their wine isn't decanted) I had the Caesar salad and it was very good. I'd have liked the dressing a bit stronger, however the dish made up for that in other ways. Presentation was good, the leaves were perfectly fresh and crispy, and it was loaded with parmesan shavings, crispy croutons and awesome salty bacon. Next came the fillet medallions with spring onion mash and red wine jus. Amazingly good. Jus was intense and just so dang good. I'm not a potato eater, but dang these were good! The beef was perfectly medium, soft, flavoursome and ever so moreish. As I wanted to try several things, we ordered a few sides. Onion rings which were obviously homemade and just wonderful. The mushrooms were nice, hard to mess those up tho.. and the creamed cauliflower gratin was incredibly tasty! Dessert? Oh why did I eat so much?? I went for it anyways. If you like lime, go there now and order the Lime Pie. Now, go...run!! This is the second best dessert I have ever had in my entire life. (First is the Pecan Pie in Joe's Stone Crab-Miami) Its like a lemon meringue pie, but with lime instead. It was perfect. Quite tart, sweet meringue, and a very nice crust that complimented perfectly. I wish I had asked for another piece to take home... They do en early bird, and they also do an all night value meal which is 3 courses for 30 euros. The meanu is pretty much the regular menu, but not with the larger steaks (think 20 oz..). I'd say you'd be well happy with that. We were just gluttonous animals splashing out for our Anniversary, otherwise I reckon we'd have ordered off the value menu. I really enjoyed the whole meal and experience. The waiters were friendly, polite, professional yet charming. Service was almost excellent. I was so happy that they didn't top up our wine glasses every two minutes. That irritates the heck out of me. They left us to pour it ourselves which is preferable to me. I was planning on giving them a 5 star, but they let themselves down at the very last hurdle. We didn't order coffee with dessert, but wished to do so after. Our dessert plates were cleared, and then we were left alone. During the meal, the place filled up, so they were busy enough. It took a while to flag someone down to order after dinner drinks. They were brought quickly, and although I don't take milk or sugar in my tea, surprisingly none was brought or offered. Hubby has a French coffee and although he didn't say too much about it, he wasn't happy with it as it was overly sweetened. They did however use proper pouring cream, so they just needed to ease back the sugar a bit I reckon. Its not a big deal, its just that when you've had awesome service and wonderful food, it's really noticeable when it drops off at the end. I'll defo be back!

Yelp
I am a Steak Lover! It wasn't my first time at FXB but definitely the best choice of steak I made, Filet Steak. I am usually going with Sirloin. It is first class when you can cut through a rare-medium rare steak with a tiny bit of pressure only...it already melted on my knife...man what a taste, absolutely delicious! Great seasoning (if you wanted more, they have the salt/pepper/spice mix on the tables), great meat structure and just the right amount. As a starter my friend and so shade a black pudding Croquette - very funny because just recently I said I don't like black pudding. That croquette was very good, especially with the creamy barley on site. This combination just worked! For desert I had an Espresso Martini - yeah I know it's not a Cocktail bar, but they definitely have the skills!!! It was superb. The staff is super friendly, very quick and a bit flirty, all you need to feel spoiled. Thank god...I get visitors next week - just another reason to go big and have an amazing dinner :)

Yelp
I've been extreeeemely disappointed by FX Buckley. Yes, with 3 'e'. Like in very, very, very disappointed. I've had an instant with Ireland's incredible meat when I started living here. Beef meat is iconic here. I learnt how to love it by my several visits to Bull and Castle, and their delicious treats. They serve 'FX Buckley' meat, so it was really natural for me to try the 'real' FX Buckley steakhouse. The place is cute and well decorated. First disappointment though, they have only a few tap beers, and most of them are not really interesting (really, you have Heineken but no Guinness?). We ordered cocktails too, and they were bad. No big deal, it's not a cocktail place, but for the price they could be really better. We ordered all different kinds of meat, from rump to medallions. And now... The decent into hell. The meat was really hard. Dry. The taste was ok, and the cooking good too. But the meat was simply... Dry and not tender at all. It was that way for all our FOUR dishes. How is that possible, considering that it 'should' be the same meat as in Bull and Castle? We never knew... Last thing, the waiter made us pay for extra sauce (to help finish our dishes of dry hard meat). That's low, except when the dishes are so 'meh'. Well, as a consequence, I won't come back to FX Buckley and I will stick to the other awesome steakhouses in town.

Yelp
Ate here 2x for lunch during my visit to Ireland back in early September. True indulgence. As good as steakhouses get. Grass-fed. Cooked to medium rare perfection. Had the ribeye the first day and the tenderloin on the second. The french fries are out of this world because they are cooked in tallow. Delicious.

Yelp
I went here for lunch last week and i was delighted with the whole experience. The interior itself is quite quirky and old school. There are huge cuts of meat displayed in a cabinet. An old bike hanging on the wall. Plenty to make the eye wander. The waitstaff quickly took our orders after we were seated. The food arrived not long after and the service was prompt throughout. It means you dont feel rushed on your one hour break. As far as the food goes I ordered the superfood salad which was delicious. My boyfriend got the steak sandwich and he was also very happy with his choice. The table next to us got the burger and it looked amazing! huge hunk of meat! Cant wait to go back to try their evening meal!

Yelp
If you find the opportunity to grab a steak whilst visiting Dublin give the folks at FX Buckley a try. From starters to dessert you won't miss a beat here. Also, be sure to go for a large format wine while you're at it.

Yelp
High priced for the quality of the food. The steaks were just ok. The fries weren't as hot as they should be. Looked like primarily after work business dinner kind of place. Safe for that.

Yelp
My German partner loves Irish steak and asked me to choose an Irish restaurant that served a great steak as his last night of our trip back to Ireland. I chose FX Buckleys cause even as a vegetarian there's always been delicious smells coming out whenever I walked past. We got a great early bird three courses- about 23 euros with a 5 euro extra charge for sirloin. The starters was eggs benedict for me on asparagus and caesar salad for him - the hollondaise sauce was wonderful and the asparagus very al-dente. I had the portobello mushroom with cheese and spinach and wrapped in filo pastry, he got the sirloin. I have to say, as the one veggie option in a steakhouse, I was bowled over by how tasty it was. Bf was delighted with the steak and kept saying how it was perfectly cooked for him ( a medium-to-well-done fan). There was a special for the desert which was an apple and rhubarb crumble which was amazingly flavourful and tangy and completely overshadowed the chocolate tart I got. The other major point about the service was while we were eating there was a very loud party behind us. Another waitress asked the party of gentlemen to quieten down a bit and they made some offensive retort to her - I couldn't hear what. Next thing an assistant manager-type was down at their table - mollifying them as their ringleader ( a large man with an odd accent - south african?) got quite upset that the waitress asked him to be quiet, saying it was a steakhouse and he was here to enjoy himself. He actually used the line "do you know who I am" and "look me up on google". He then started to threaten not to leave a tip. The waiter/assistant-manager guy said it was within his rights of course... My bf and I were absorbed - dinner and drama! Then things took a turn for the serious when the ringleader then made some remark I couldn't catch but I guessed was very mysogynistic about the previous waitress. The assistant-manager type quickly dropped all his appeasing behaviour and asked "would you talk to your mother that way?" The ringleader spluttered a bit and the other guy continued "that's in no way acceptable". THe ring leader retorted that it was ok in his culture, to which the other guy replied it wasn't ok in any culture and he didn't care about a tip. The ring-leader mumbled some form of apology and peace was restored. The atmosphere lightened when the party left but honestly I was overjoyed to see that the staff members back each other up and don't compromise their values for some boor with an attitude problem. Well done!

Yelp
"Thursday: not a good day either for mutton kidney at Buckley's, fried with butter, a shake of pepper" - Leopold Bloom James Joyce, Ulysses. At F.X. Buckley they dry age the beef, which means it is hung or stored on a rack to dry at about 4°C for a minimum of 28 days. The benefit of this process the concentration and saturation of natural meat flavours and superior tenderness.

Yelp
Love their staffs - they were so helpful and lovely to me when I tried to organize a small surprise for my boyfriend's birthday! I think this one has the most lovely steak compared to all other FXBs in Dublin for me.

Yelp
Brought customers visiting Dublin here a few times - always with good results. Needless to say - the star of the show here is beef, and it's been consistently good every time I've been here. You can order various cuts of meat, in differing sizes, with a sauce of your choice, so you can basically customise your beef ingestion to your exact requirements :-) Quality of the meat is very high, as befits a place with their own farm and butchering business. And they really do age it and know how to cook it. Aside from that - I've also had the fried whitebait here (top class), and they have the full range of wine and a selection of beers on offer. All in all I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great, dependable steak dinner.
