Definitely can be a tourist trap but we had fun nonetheless. They will try to sell you everything from water, beer, toys, food, music to blankets. We road the boat for 2 hours at 1200 pesos. Lots of fun people on other boats, just an overall good vibe minus all the haggling. Bring some drinks and snacks and enjoy!

Either eat before you come and just enjoy a quiet ride or don’t eat and go all out with the delicious boat cooked tacos and ice cold sodas or beer or micheladas. The ride is so fun. Bring money to hire the mariachis.

It definitely gets crowded on a Sunday, when we went, making it a bit harder for the boats to get around…but it also makes it kinda fun seeing all the different groups having very different adventures on their different boats

This place is actually really cool. For two hours we paid $1000 mxn but I'm pretty sure we could've bargained down to $800. The vibes here are awesome! You just kick back, relax and enjoy a good time with your friends. The basic idea here is to rent a private boat that takes you around the water for a few hours. I was skeptical of being bored at first but quickly found out how fun this concept is! We got on the boat and immediately started getting approached by a bunch of other boats selling us good, alcohol, music, and other fun stuff. It was so cool! We got absolutely hammered on the water, and the boats are big enough that you can just lay down and soak up the sun. It was nice being absolutely care free for a couple of hours. If you go with a small group I would suggest checking to see if you can join another small group. The boats are really large so you can maintain privacy if you want but you're probably gonna want some company on this journey. Trust me, if you see another small group, approach them!

Very , very fun place to visit. I went there with amigo tour company. They arrange the ship. On the ship, most of tourist in my group had a lunch. Which I didn't know. That was only place to eat lunch during all day tour. They should tell us in advance. I didn't have Mexican pesos, I had US dollars only. Lunch was not expensive but I couldn't order because I didn't have pesos. The end of lunch, I found out , floating restaurant accept the US dollar as well. One hour goes too fast... I want to go back .

A must go for tourists visiting Mexico and looking for an authentic, original place. I came here on a Monday and it was not crowded at all. Musicians prices range from 50 to 150 pesos and they even knew Argentine tango songs. The water is not the cleanest but that is not the point. Very colorful boats and the personnel was incredibly accommodating and kind.

This place was amazing! If you are lookong for something to do on the weekend for 3 to 4 hours come enjoy Xochimilco. Dont forget to bring your beer and tequilla. If your party needs food you can find some there.

I booked a trip with AirBnb so the experience was fantastic and a great price ! It gets busy here quick, and if you can, visit earlier. There are a bunch of shops and places to eat, people will try to sell you things and convince you to join a boat tour. The canals get so crowded because of the amount of boats that there is huge traffic. Our guide mentioned sometimes there is a standstill because of this. Once you're on the boat, people will try and sell you drinks, food, souvenirs and mariachis will ask if you would like live music. You can stop at touristy things like seeing axolotl and reptiles. Definitely some tourist traps, but it's worth it haha. I paid extra to hold some snakes and got some cute souvenirs, which were a reasonable price. Book an organized tour if you can !

My partner and I wanted to visit the canals of Xochimilco. If you don't read the rest, know that this is the legit embarcadero of to go for trajineras and touring the canals of Xochimilco when visiting Mexico City. It's the same one they visited on a former season of Amazing Race! We knew it was going to take an Uber ride (~$9USD) and ~45 minutes to get there. What we didn't know is there are guys on bicycles that will try to con your driver into taking you to an alternative boat landing where they, according to travel blogs, either rob you or charge you more. Thankfully I speak Spanish and could understand what was going on. While I considered listening, I quickly Googled what was being said--the road is shut down and there's an alternative and better embarcadero that can be accessed by taking a different route--and learned that it wasn't legit. I was able to reassure our driver to follow the Uber/map instructions and also tell the guy on the bike off. He still persisted and followed us for a few miles until we took the final turn on the road to Embarcadero Nativitas. Anyway, the boats are well-kept, the time out in the canals was as long/longer than we paid for, and the prices were very fair (and negotiable). The whole place is the same company so any of the people that approach you about boats are there for the same place. We brought our own beers and took a two-hour ride and it was so nice. You can also buy food and drinks from vendors on the water. And you can bring a portable speaker/play music, too. We legit had the best time taking in the whole experience. You can stop along the way to use restrooms (highly recommend clocking them on your way out so you know where they are on your way back in and don't pee your pants). Don't forget to bring some coins along to pay the bathroom fee, too.

Oh my this was so much fun today. This was our last adventure with our tour guides. You rent your own boat. You can bring your own food, drinks , alcohol and not. You can rent a speaker to play music from your phone. But there are mariachi bands playing and other people with music. We saw one boat with a DJ and a mixer playing music. Little boats come by to sell you all sorts of food and drinks. And of course souvenirs. Really a lot of fun and up lifting. Everyone around us was having a blast. I totally recomend doing this if you are in Mexico City.

One of the things we were recommended to do when we came to Mexico was come to Embarcadero Nativitas. It is a small, busy gondola port that has many colorful wooden boats that go along the river. They are operates by a local, and you can have a whole boat to yourself or have 20 people and it cost the same. Hubby and I had a boat to ourselves. We did 2 hours and I am glad we didn't do it for longer. The view isn't very nice, there are lots of sellers and mariachis that come to your boat to offer their wares. Nothing wrong with this, but we came on a weekday and there weren't many boats outs so naturally we were flames to the moth. Our boat operator told us that on the weekend there are so many boats that it is hard to navigate and often time, the boats collide with one another. I don't think I would enjoy that. Another thing I didn't like is the fact that locals try to scam you. We read online that there is a set price for all (locals and tourists alike) to be careful because if you are offered to be guided by a kid in a bicycle they will take you to people they had already dealings with and they will charge you more and split the profit. We were aware of this so when we Ubered from the train station to the boat area our kept warning us in the car on how bad this is, and that is is a problem and blah blah blah but he did exactly the same thing! He brought us to a guy who wanted to charge us $700 pesos when the price is supposed to be no more than $400, hubby complained to him and he brought it down to $450 just be aware of this. To me, the whole thing was just meh.

Out of everything I did in Mexico, the Trajineras de Xochimilco was my favorite. Xochimilco is approximately one hour away from the city, if you take an Uber. Be very careful. There are a few scammers in the area. It costs us 300 pesos (approx. $15 USD) per hour for the whole boat. Prices are not per person. Going down the canal on a colorful boat with mariachi serenading you is the best way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. Awesome experience. You can bring your own food, drinks, and music. But there are vendors on boats selling everything from alcohol to flowers to jewelry. We were enjoying the view while sipping on Coronas and eating roasted corn on the cob. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we ended up staying for three hours. 5 stars. Definitely a must-do.

Xochimilco is famous for providing locals and tourists alike with an opportunity to sit back, relax, and enjoy a peaceful (and sometimes bumpy) boat ride down the canal. Doesn't that sound enticing enough? My friends and I had a great time here. You'll know you've found the right port when they insist in charging just MX$350 for the entire experience for two hours, with the option of extending it while you are on the boat. The area is filled with shops, food stalls, and hundreds and hundreds of colorfully decorated boats. Boats are operated by a gentlemen who look like they've spent a lot of time defining their upper body and arms. Everything is "bring your own" including drinks, but they do provided an ice bucket of cold beverages that you can purchase from during a boat ride. Along the way, you'll be able to shop around for snacks and even mariachi bands who will come to your boat and perform. It's colorful, fun, and definitely an experience anyone should have while visiting Mexico City. We loved being able to get a little bit of the city's history with its usage of canals from our journey. You surely won't be disappointed.

I really and truly enjoyed my experience in Mexico city. Visited the Museo de Antropologia, saw the Teotihuacan temples, had amazing street-vendor tacos every day downtown, walked around all sorts of cathedrals and churches, saw a show at the Bellas Artes theater, and even dropped in on a live wrestling match. Getting on one of the boats from the Embarcadero Nuevo Nativitas was one of the best experiences by far. A highlight of the entire trip. I read the reviews and did my best to avoid the sketchier embarcaderos, hence my decision to go to this specific one. Hopped on an Uber and got there within 45 minutes or so from downtown CDM. Once there, the second we walked closer to the river, we were quickly approached by a guy who suggested we get on one of his boats for $1000 pesos. My gut reaction was to turn him down, as I misunderstood / thought he was asking for 1000 EACH. Within two minutes, he came back to me and suggested we pay 800 TOTAL, which was an amazing deal. We were lead by another guy across three or four parked boats, hopping from one to the next, and sat down on a completely empty boat; they asked us what kind of beer we wanted, we paid the boat master / owner, and off we went down a crowded, bustling river. I don't want to spoil the fun, nor do I have the time to write down every aspect of this experience. Go try it out for yourselves, bring some cash for food, beer and the boat ride itself, and enjoy a leisurely few hours of pure bliss and relaxation, surrounded by colors and laughter.

This is the dock you want to come to. Unfortunately, our taxi driver had no idea how to get there (many drivers lack GPS and don't know to get to major tourist sites - very frustrating). Everyone we stopped to ask for directions tried to steer us towards the other dock. They were very aggressive, even going so far as to say that Nativitas was closed - don't believe them. Use the GPS on your phone to guide the driver to this exact spot. Don't use the word Nuevo to identify the dock because it throws people off. It's the original dock, just recently remodeled. People know it as Embarcadero Nativitas. We visited on New Year's Day with a group of 9 people and had a blast. We brought chips, water, orange, limes, and a bottle of mezcal with us. From the boat we bought micheladas and quesadillas. We also purchased 4 or 5 songs from a mariachi band and they charged 700 pesos. I enjoyed hearing the marimba bands passing by too. The crowd, vibe, and weather on New Year's Day were perfect. The 2 hours went by fast! Make sure you have change for the W.C. Also, look for the 2 very sweet ladies selling blue corn quesadillas on the dock. We ate some after our boat ride, and they were delicious (I recommend the flor, huitlacoche, and chicken/pollo).

This is an amazing experience with the right amount of time and money. It's 350 pesos PER BOAT (doesn't matter how many people on it). The ride is smooth and you are asked to buy something every couple minutes from other boats that approach your boat. We bought micheladas that were gigantic! And corn on the cob. This is definitely worthy of a trip if you're visiting Mexico City like us. I highly recommend it.

THIS IS NOT THE LOCATION OF THE ISLAND OF THE DOLLS. Just want to reiterate that, since you'll hear it, but rather they have a few spots with creepy dolls hanging around. If you are looking for the dolls, www.isladelasmunecas.com suggests Embarcadero Cuemanco. Ok, so... getting there was interesting. I took the train, then the lightrail, then walked for 20 minutes. An uber would have been awesome. I walked around like a total deer staring into headlights until a man came up and offered the boat rides. $500 pesos for an hour. I was about to walk away and he changed it to $350 pesos for an hour. I got on the little boat-y thing he took me to and the dude with the stick, stearing the boaty thing asked how long I wanted to go. I said 2 hours because it felt like it had been such a short trip. Long story short, I got 2 hours for $350 pesos Along the way you'll get pestered by vendors in true Mexican style. I love that. It made me chuckle. Corn, drinks, jewelry, mariachis. You name it, they've got their own boat to pull up next to you and offer it. There are gardens, a reptile room, and bathrooms that your boat dude can take you to. Overall, it was a nice experience, but very crowded and kinda cheesy. Too expensive compared to other tourist attractions in Mexico City, but I allow myself one stupid expense every trip I make. While you're down there, and blowing pesos, check out Museo Dolores Olmedo if you like Diego Rivera art. (Get back on the light rail and get off at La Noria) I included a picture of the peacocks there.

A lazy ride down the canals of Xochi is a must! Saturday afternoon with a bottle of tequila, squirt and time on our hands, enjoying the party! Great experience over and over.

This place is just so much fun, I can't even! Hired a driver to take us and bring us back but you could easily take an uber . All the uber drivers are super nice and most give you water lol . Went on a Saturday evening around 5pm which is when the party starts going, so if you want some family time go earlier cause it get ROWDY up in here! You rent a boat for $20 an hour per boat not per person and pay on your way out to make sure you get your times worth! It's BYOB but you can buy delicious micheladas and food from vendors who float up to your boat . You can buy all sorts of trinkets there as well. It's super fun and people go with groups and have parties on the boat running through these ancient canals. There were people who went with a whole DJ and light system and we're going HAM on that boat lol you could easily make friends and join a party . Party Music everywhere and colorful boats selling delicious food and touristy stuff you all of a sudden need ! What more could you want! Also a great way to relax after walking through museums, Mexico City historic center or climbing pyramids . It does take about 45 minutes to get there from downtown Mexico City so plan accordingly
