Doris is a vibrant, candlelit cocktail haven in Bed-Stuy, featuring a spacious backyard with ping-pong and a DJ spinning vinyl beats until late.
"From outside, Doris looks at you with some big, brown eyes. Once you step inside, you suddenly get South-Western vibes, complete with succulents and wall-hanging, sand colored tapestries. With a generous happy hour, tasty cocktails and a well curated (sometimes DJ'd) vinyl music, Doris is a favorite spot for Bed-Stuy locals and beyond. Summer nights, the large back yard is a popular, cool place to mingle while enjoying a grilled cheese sandwich or a ping pong game." - Ramona Todoca
"Not to be crass, but Doris, Bed-Stuy's premier first date spot, is for a very specific type of first date. It's for the first date after a series of bad first dates, when you'd much rather make out with someone in a candlelit corner than do any more small talk. By 12am (even on a weeknight) everybody's making out at Doris, so you'll never feel self-conscious for just doing what you want to do. If all else fails, and that person is definitely not as into vinyl as they said they were, finish that margarita, order a serviceable grilled cheese for the road, and then part ways forever." - will hartman, bryan kim, willa moore, neha talreja
"Most nights, you’re going to find a crowd at Doris. So if you want to meet someone or just hang around a bunch of people and pretend they're your friends, come here. This place has a backyard, they often have a DJ playing vinyl, and the disco ball here seems to turn on at 11pm sharp. The space has high ceilings and a vaguely-Southwestern theme, and it works just fine for a fun first date, although you should know that there isn’t much seating." - Bryan Kim, Willa Moore, Nikko Duren
"The disco ball at Doris is mesmerizing, and you should be under it at midnight on December 31st. A good portion of the neighborhood will be here as well, seeing as how this is one of the best places to stay out late in Bed-Stuy. The minimalist space has high ceilings and a handful of tables, but if you want to sit at one of those tables, get here early. Expect good music and folks spilling drinks as they dance." - team infatuation
"Any night of the week, you’re going to find a crowd at Doris. Maybe it’s because of the backyard, the DJ playing vinyl, or the disco ball that seems to get activated at 11pm sharp. Maybe it’s because of all three. This is where you go to meet someone in Bed-Stuy. It feels sort of like somewhere you’d find on the LES, just without all the long lines." - hannah albertine, nikko duren
