Doc B's offers a health-conscious twist on comfort food in a chic setting, making it a go-to for customizable meals and fresh, tasty bites.
"The spot to go for real food that lets you feel good about it all afterwards. Get a little wild eating baked polenta fries with a side of pesto dipping sauce, which are healthy because they are baked. We know that might be kind of cheating, but there are also plenty of things on the menu to help lower your cholesterol a bit." - sam faye
"This is a staple in the “let’s order dinner but not be totally gross” department. Doc B’s has a lot of tasty healthy options, like delicious salads, grilled meat and fish, and bowls full of vegetables and quinoa. But definitely consider ordering the baked polenta fries. They aren’t that healthy, but definitely taste really good." - adrian kane
"This self-professed “fast-casual” eatery prides itself on giving guests a 100 percent customizable experience. The tech-to-table system allows for lightning-fast service (order from a digital menu board, and then take a wireless tracker to your table), though if traditional waiter service is more your speed, there’s that too. Food-wise, the focus is on healthful, fresh fare, with the menus at both locations brimming with veggie-driven dishes (for the most part, produce is sourced locally) like kale slaw and grilled artichokes, in addition to comfort staples like matzo ball soup and close to a dozen burger variations (the turkey burger is a GP favorite). There's also a location in Gold Coast."
"The “fresh casual” restaurant is about as formulaic as it gets these days, but Doc B’s does it well. It’s modern and pretty with a bit of an industrial vibe, complete with a menu comprised primarily of tasty health conscious dishes. So while you can get a very good salad, you can also get a burger or rich, cheesy artichoke dip. This location is below Nordstrom and the rest of the Shops at North Bridge, so you can expect to be surrounded by lots of tourists, and people with shopping addictions. And overall, Doc B’s is a good middle of the road option for River North - nicer and more of a real restaurant than the fast-casual chains nearby, but not as full- blown sceney and expensive as other places in the neighborhood. Food Rundown Housemade Guacamole Fresh and deicious guacamole with sweet potato chips. Don’t be afraid to ask for more chips. Baked Polenta Fries Our favorite appetizer. Thick-cut pieces of polenta with a bit of a crisp on the outside but creamy on the inside. The spicy tomato and pesto dipping sauces are excellent too. Kale Artichoke Dip Like spinach artichoke dip, but cooler, because it’s kale. Always reliable and good for sharing. Brussels Sprout Salad It’s fine, but generic. Served with a parmigiano reggiano vinaigrette. The #1 Tuna Salad Seared ahi tuna, avocado, mango, and ginger dressing over field greens. The mango is a nice touch and it’s our favorite salad overall. The #1 Tuna Sandwich Same thing as above but on a bun and with sliced apple instead of mango. The Homage Burger Burger with cheddar, pickle, white onion, and thousand island. Not bad if you want to be different from the rest of your friends eating salad. Wok Out Bowl The go-to if you aren’t sure what else to order. Basically build your own bowl with a rice, noodle, or quinoa base. We like to go with the sesame teriyaki chicken with veggies over brown rice." - Sam Faye
"You can get food from Doc B’s delivered, or pick it up curbside. They also have a lot of daily promotions (like gift cards), so check their Instagram for details." - adrian kane
