Everywhere ‘Industry’ Star Myha’la Eats In Brooklyn

"“My team was like, ‘Have you had enough of that place?’ Because every time I have an in-person interview, I go to Debutea. I just love bubble tea and it's pretty close to home. I don't mind going to the same place twice. That place is great. It's lovely. It's really casual. They have a tea accessories wall that I just think is visually very beautiful to look at. I'm pretty standard: I'll do—which they don't have at every bubble tea place—an osmanthus oolong. I'm just a floral kind of girlie. I love to eat flowers and plants and shit. I love that because it's a departure from my other normal order, which is a rose black tea with almond milk. I always get boba and I really like those like rectangular coconut jellies. [A lot of places] have rectangular lychee jelly, but they don't have them at Debutea, which is depressing. So instead I get the grass jelly, which is a good close second.”" - brennan carley

The Best Boba Shops in NYC

"Lots of boba shops sell snacks, but Debutea, a full-service cafe with locations in Downtown Brooklyn and Greenwich Village, also has a food menu with things like egg salad sandos, unagi don, and poke—making it a great spot for a casual lunch or a low-key date. The drinks menu covers all the bases with a selection of hot teas by the pot, tons of fruit tea options (try the Pinkglow Pineapple), a selection of cheese foam teas, and four classic boba milk teas." - molly fitzpatrick, carina finn koeppicus

Google
It was a 10/10, honestly best boba shop I’ve been to. Amazing seating, really aesthetic design. The employees are just really kind and the environment is really nice to catch up with a friend. I saw a couple of people on dates (it seemed like). The drinks were good too, i highly recommend if you like tea or fresh fruit drinks. I am definitely going to be going back!

Google
Today, we visited this café because my daughter had been here before and loved the food. We ordered burritos and drinks, and everything was delicious! However, the place was very busy, and finding a free table was difficult. Most tables were taken by people with laptops working or studying. Overall, a great spot, but expect a crowd!

Christina Ukolov

Google
new favorite work location!! they have a lot of food options (leaning asian like poke and sushi) that are reaaaally yum and really fresh, the boba is also very good AND they have teapots u can order if u want regular tea. chairs are very comfy and open until 9pm! 🥰

Google
This boba / coffee shop is huge. Very nice atmosphere, lots of sunlight depending when you come. There is one bathroom. Came on a Saturday at 11am and saw some laptoppers. There was also an ikebana floral arranging class happening as well. I ordered a large oolong tea and added grass jelly, half sugar. Pretty good.

Google
Pretty decent boba spot. They have decent coffee too. The pastries were actually very good and I would recommend trying some if you go. There’s a lot of boba spots and this one is similar to other ones. Would give them a try!

Google
The coffee here is disappointing, but the teas and bubble tea are fantastic. The poke bowls are delicious and highly recommended. It’s a great spot for remote workers, with comfortable seating, free drinking water, and clean restrooms. However, it is a bit on the pricey side.

Google
Such a lovely tea shop/cafe. I come here at least once a week. The drinks are fantastic and high quality. The space is bright, clean and beautiful.

Google
Spacious and sleek spot for fun tea-based drinks. Honestly, it has everything you need: lots of seating, reliable wifi and a restroom. Definitely a recommend if you need a spot to sit down for a while.

Yelp
The Signature Fruit Tea was an absolute delight! It offered a perfect balance between sweetness and a refreshing citrusy kick. Every sip was bursting with fresh fruit flavors, making it the ideal drink when I'm in the mood for something light yet satisfying. The vibrant fruits really shine through, making each sip feel like a refreshing escape. It's now my go-to choice whenever I'm craving a drink that's both tasty and invigorating. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a deliciously fruity pick-me-up!

Yelp
Great atmosphere, great fruit tea and a polished modern look. Debutea mastered the cozy coffee shop feel through fruit tea. The drinks are unique and are definitely the draw. The food seems to be more of an add on and takes away a bit from the atmosphere that it has been trying to cultivate. When you walk into a coffee shop, you expect to smell coffee. When you walk into a tea shop, you'd expect to smell tea, but rather in this case, some food with it. Taste: 4/5 Ambiance: 4.5/5 Service: 3.5/5 Value for money: 3/5 1) Creamy real ube paste Bobo - quite good 2) genmaicha green pomelo - not bad 3) Unagi don - this was okay

Yelp
Cute cafe with various drinks and foods available. Plenty of seatings and outlets for the working and studying folks. I liked the osmanthus grape tea drink, it was refreshing and slightly floral, the tea/clear boba can be on the hard side. My partner got the mango slush(?), they said it isn't as good as HeyTea's Mango series.
google avatar

Yelp
huge space ! great place to chill read work can order on kiosk or up front. has bathroom. lots of options of fruit and milk. probably fruit is better
google avatar

Yelp
I got the taro tea which is made with a taro paste which I didn't particularly like because of the texture but it tasted good. The staff members were kind enough to swap it for a matcha tea which I liked a lot more. This was a good spot for meeting a friend or getting work done. Lots of nice chairs and stools by the window.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 | Service: 4/5 | Experience: 5/5 This is a beautiful and large space perfect for working because of the large amounts of seating. I got the four seasons cheese tea, which was very refreshing.

Yelp
First time at Debutea. Was feeling something sweet and fruity after dinner, and their mango drink fit the bill. While it did have green tea you could taste, it was more of a smoothie with the blended mango. My friend's signature tea with the spring/summer fruits tasted mostly of the grapefruit and was very tart and somewhat bitter because of it. I had thought about ordering that for myself too, but glad I didn't. We ordered on the touch screen/iPad at the counter and entered my name for the order. It was fairly quiet in there so I went up after 5-10 minutes, and our drinks were waiting on the counter. The seating area was quiet, with other patrons on laptops. The music was just the right volume to make our conversation not feel like an awkward volume.

Yelp
This place is a nice spot for catching up with friends, working remotely, and just enjoying a nice cold bevvie. Loves: + Broad selection of drinks + They serve food after 11am + Self check out kiosks! + Location is near a ton of subways + Free wifi + Nice and modern space Overall I really enjoy having Debutea in this neighborhood!

Yelp
Love this place! Best post-rock climbing treat and the staff are quick and super friendly
google avatar

Yelp
got the lychee jasmine tea which had a real tea taste that was good! it wasn't too sweet either. really like the working space here, it's cozy and has outlets. overall a nice space to do work and good drinks as well.

Yelp
Pretty tasty and refreshing tea! A nice place with a lot of room and very remote friendly for people who want to hang out or work remotely here. I liked their marketing and promotions in the establishment as well. Staff was nice. Would come here to get more boba and work here if I were in the Brooklyn area again, honestly!

joanna m.

Yelp
Area is quiet , cozy, drink is avocado and is very refreshing , self service. Numerous sits, their food mostly are poke salad.
google avatar

Yelp
The salad bowl is definitely worth the extra dollar. I washed it out & reused it - very cool! Tonight I tried : 1) TRICOLOR POKE - bbq eel, raw salmon and tuna with seaweed salad, corn, mango, avocado, cucumber, tomatoes, edamame, furikake, and kizami nori - over white rice and poke sauce. Fresh and full of flavor. 2) Banana bread. Moist and delicious with crunchy nuts and a sweet crispy crust. Five stars all around. This is my second time trying Debutea delivery. Both times everything was perfect. I also tried their Jasmine Green Tea - it had an intense flavor which I enjoyed.

Yelp
Wonderful drinks in a beautiful setting. Love the food as well. Place, including bathroom is spotless. Sometimes service is slow but always worth the wait.
google avatar

Lily H.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my visit as well as the drink I ordered which was the pink coco. I really liked the add in of the drink - tasted like the sweet Vietnamese tofu dessert. I was really surprised by the space of the tea bar. It was very open, had plenty of seating, and more space even wrapped around the long bar. It was pleasant to just enjoy my drink and chill. It was a relaxing space.

Yelp
I've always been a fan of Debutea, so when I found out they have a location in Brooklyn I just HAD to visit. The Brooklyn location is significantly larger than the Manhattan location with lots of indoor seatings available, and yes there is a restroom! I went with my usual (jasmine tea with extra cheese foam) and it tastes as amazing as I remembered :)
google avatar

Yelp
Place is amazing tons of healthy food choices , ambiance is super chill and clean inside . Fast service . The variety of drinks will blow your mind very unusual good just wanna try them all. Must try !!!!!

Yelp
We order delivery from where a lot for their poke bowls and burritos - usually once a week, and we always order the same thing. Today's order every single item was wrong or had an issue - The poke bowl was missing a protein. The poke burrito had a wrong sauce. The chicken soup tasted different than usually and I'm pretty sure it's because it's watered down. Anyway, check your orders. We're going to take a break from this place.
google avatar

Mandisa N.

Yelp
I enjoyed my mango milk. I think the price was a little high for the size, but it was tasty and refreshing! One of my friends got a rose latte and she wasn't a fan. It was basically just straight milk.
google avatar

Hannah X.

Yelp
The mango drink and salmon avocado onigiri were amazing! There was real mashed mango in the drink, which also came with other toppings and had lactose-free whole milk, which I appreciated. The onigiri was also very good! A little pricy but worth it imo.

Yelp
I had a tasty lunch at Debutea this week. The tri color poke was delicious and savory and had a tiny bit of heat to it. Yummy. The coffee and tea were also good. It's a chill and relaxing space good for relaxing or working. Service is a bit spotty. Out of the 4 things we ordered they messed up 2 of them and the order took a long time. Overall, good coffee/lunch spot if you are not in a hurry.

Yelp
This place is everything you're looking for: spacious, clean and delicious. I'm obsessed, and I didn't want to leave! That's when you know you've found a gem We came on a Friday morning and ordered the Taro milk tea and chicken salad. The total came out to $25 I didn't mind because it was fresh, and packaged with care. Let's get into this boba: light, sweet and not too sugary which was the perfect balance. On the to-go bag I read there was no added sugar or artificial flavoring added: you can taste the difference. The salad was poppin, and I don't even like salads. I loved the different textures within the salad: there was roasted chicken, greens, carrots, a boiled egg, quinoa rice and fresh pineapples added on the side. The one who took my order was so kind and helpful. The bathroom was spacious and clean. There are also flowers available for purchase and they also host flower making classes which occur on Saturdays so basically they do it all. I looked it up however and it was $130... I guess I'll just buy myself flowers. LOL TLDR; the best coffee/boba spot in BK to get work done. Plenty of seating and outlets which is extremely rare. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu because everything is good. Go, go, go and support this gem in BK!

Yelp
Debutea saved the day today! I was strugggglinngggg to find a coffee shop with wifi in the Downtown Brooklyn area. I went to 3 coffee shops... some had no tables, most had no wifi, and one had no outlets whatsoever :( After all of the searching around I finally stumbled across Debutea and I felt like I hit the jackpot. The space is very large, lots of seating and super inviting. I love their decor and huge bookshelf that covers the entire front wall (the perfect backdrop for your meetings). Things I loved, - chocolate chip cookies bomb - beautiful interior and a large conference desk that multiple people can sit at - fast wifi and outlet - background music that was actually fun - variety of seating options (some high, some low, some couch-like ... a lil something for everyone) - a CLEAN bathroom *prayer hands* I also noticed that a lot of people had boba. Must be good then. I'll definitely be back again if I find myself in this area and needing wifi! Thankssss

Yelp
We tried two different teas that were grape and was refreshing . The staff was nice and was a cute place. Definitely coming back to try more items
google avatar

Wendy H.

Yelp
A perfect place to grab some food and drink to go with your wifi. A very cute cafe with sweet drinks, delicious salads, and rice bowls. Nothing was spectacular but we really enjoyed the space. The egg truffle sandwich and the gyudon probably stood out the most for their flavors. The coconut mango was really good. The strawberry milk drink maybe a tad too sweet, especially compared to their milk tea boba, which is on the milder side. They also offer plates of sashimi which are pretty decent! Close to the transit museum so a great stop to couple with a museum visit.
google avatar

Tyshawn T.

Yelp
Very solid tea spot. I had the Signature. The cookies & cream macron was great too. The service was really good.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here with my wife on a Saturday around 11am. We were able to get seats. Place is very nice and cute I got the coco mango and my biggest regret was not getting a large. It was so coconutty and mangoey. It wasn't boba in there but some kind of jelly. I really liked the texture. The only way to know what I'm talking about is to go there and try it yourself My wife got the fruit tea and I was thought it was okay. It's on the sweeter side. I like how they provide a fork so you can scoop up the fruits at the end
google avatar

Calvin C.

Yelp
Such a great modern take on teas! First of all, I was so confused with "bobo" labeled on the wall. But the menu has boba listed on the main drinks. Still confused about it. I tried the fruit tea (with boba)... it was so good! I liked the balance of sweetness and tart. It had a decent amount of fruits and it comes with the fork. The boba was excellent too - not too sweet and perfectly made. Honestly, I felt that it was better than Yi Fang (more balanced). A bit pricer than other places but I would still pay for Debutea Loved the space. Lots of seating and was very cute. One restroom.
google avatar

Alissa S.

Yelp
I recently accompanied my friend to pick up her Too Good To Go bag. It seemed like they weren't prepared and just made us 2 drinks with boba. One was regular green tea without milk or sweetener and the other was a black peach tea, again without milk or sweetener. For the price of $5 we weren't complaining bc tea is always great to have. The boba tasted great in both but the black peach tea was just undrinkable. It was so so so bitter that I can't imagine they poured it from a leftover pitcher that served others! I have not ordered their milk teas before but will probs steer clear after this.
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
This is a really cute spot to catch up with friends, do people watching or work! I came on a Saturday afternoon and it was quiet with many tables and seats available in the front and back of the store! There's also a clean bathroom for customers thankfully. The place is very aesthetic and cozy, which small decor and furniture that feels welcoming. The chestnut nut drink was tasty and thick, they use non-lactose milk according to the label. It's perfect for anyone who wants a more muted, less sweet drink! The peach oolong tea latte was also really delicious. The fruity flavor was subtle but paired really well with the milk. I got the drink hot which was $0.50 more and a size upgrade from 16oz to 24oz was only $1 more!
google avatar

Noor B.

Yelp
The best bubble tea in my opinion. The items are fresh and the tapioca is made in house. I literally fell in love with this place one day when I ordered it off of Grubhub. It was damn expensive but it was worth it. You could tell that you were consuming healthier cleaner tasting bubble tea. This is a must try. My only issue is that where it's located the parking is a pain in the butt.
google avatar

Kazi S.

Yelp
I'm not even gonna lie I have no idea what we ordered (we let the bobarista pick) but it was perfection and exactly what we wanted. The large was huge and took 2 of us to finish. I think the tea had jasmine, coconut, sago, and pomelo. And a bit of cinammon? Tasted great. But mad expensive though. Almost $10. Prices nowadays are crazy Ambiance is so good though. Cafe had a front and back. Lots of seating and different arrangements. People were there to chill and have casual conversation, others were working/studying. Bathroom is also available and clean. Aesthetics are nice.
google avatar

Katya U.

Yelp
Ooh! This place is fabulous! Real fruit tea! Delicious pineapple fruit tea, taro boba and tea latte. Great ambiance. Friendly service. If I lived nearby, would come here every day to write. The boba was slightly too hard, therefore only 4 stars. Otherwise perfect. Ps. I've read so many reviews that started to love shorter reviews, therefore following my own example.
google avatar

Cleven I.

Yelp
I visited Debutea while on a work assignment in Brooklyn and from the moment I saw it, I knew I needed to try it out. Debutea has bubble tea and that's exactly what I got. I also had the rice balls which were a great treat, I loved the flavors and variety. The service was pretty good, there was a lot of people inside but not long or busy lines as people had been served already. The place is spacious and easily accommodates many people. Very chill place with good vibes. I would recommend
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
Stopped by Debutea for a quick lunch. The staff is fast and friendly and the restaurant is clean. I love the seating by the window. Let's you people watch! New York knows food, and you can't go very far without finding a great family owned resilient business that is thriving through these hard times. Tri Color Poke was delicious. Great fresh flavors with generous portions. I will return.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
I stopped by the Brooklyn location of Debutea a few times in the past, but lately, I've been really into this cafe again. It's nestled on the corner of State and Smith Sts, on a relatively quiet stretch of Smith St and has so much sunlight. The space is decorated with gorgeous flower arrangements, some of which they do sell as I hear they host a flower arranging class on weekends. There are plenty of seating available, most with outlets, and free WiFi. I've found Debutea to be a really nice place to get some work done, and the reward of a delicious fruit tea is always an excellent motivator for me. So far, my favorites remain their Grapefruit Harvest ($6.50) and their Pinkglow Pineapple ($8) but I've yet to try their entire fruit tea menu and their seasonal specials.

Priyanka M.

Yelp
Service was good (fast, kind). Poke bowls are good lots of options. Desserts and coffee are a miss, wouldn't recommend. The bubble tea is good although. Vibes are immaculate.
google avatar

Ana L.

Yelp
Drinks are not bad but service and baristas were not very nice They were kinda Mocking me when I ask to make less ice Cozy place and nice decorations! Prices are a bit higher than normal. 9$ for Mango coconut and 8$ for lychee drink
google avatar

Erika P.

Yelp
This space is so large & cozy..even if you don't want tea it seems like a perfect spot to read or get some work done. I stopped by on a Monday night and it was pretty empty so I was in and out quickly. I got the pink lychee which might be a seasonal special since it wasn't on the official menu posted. It was light and refreshing with fresh lychee inside. I believe it came up to about $8 for the drink which is a little pricey but common for things in this area. Was it the best bubble tea? Not really, but it got the job done & left me satisfied.
google avatar

Kimmy U.

Yelp
Safe to say that Debutea is CONSISTENTLY GOOD. I've been a couple more times and their boba is always so soft, chewy, and fresh! I still stick to the tea drinks, and appreciate that a lot of them are non dairy. It's my go to and fave boba spot in the area !
google avatar

Alicia L.

Yelp
This place is so cute! The interior is pretty large with a decent amount of seating and great natural light, so it's a really nice place to sit and relax, or bring your laptop to do work. I ordered a large chestnut bobo tea, warm, and the worker said they don't do sugar adjustments for this drink. The drink itself was pretty decent - it came layered with milk, boba, and a thick chestnut purée at the bottom, all topped with cream. It surprisingly wasn't too sweet, as the milk itself wasn't sweetened. It was a little hard to mix since the chestnut at the bottom was really thick, but the purée added great flavor and the drink really just tasted like pure chestnut. The boba was also really nice and chewy. I did think it had tea in it when I ordered it though, since it is called bobo tea, and I was a little disappointed by that. We paid over $10 for one drink, so they're definitely pricey but well made, and I want to come back to try the signature coco mango drink, since that one looked really amazing as well.
google avatar

Kamara S.

Yelp
I have always passed this area on Smith street without fully checking it out until now. I get bubble tea every now and then so I don't go deep into finding new places. But I realized that this place is so much more. This place serves the following: sushi, sashimi, poke (with burritos), salads, appetizers you find on a sushi menu (edamame, seaweed salad, etc), coffee and more. It serves as a cafe/restaurant as it has wifi available and varied seating for what your purpose is (laptop work, talking with a friend). Aesthetically, it is really pretty and showcases art for sale plus events like flower arrangement on a few posters located in the place. They also have outdoor seating which would be great in the warmer times. I tried the salmon and avocado onigiri cause I needed a quick bite to eat. The fish to rice ratio was nice though the salmon was a bit on the dry side in my opinion. It was near the end of the day and my order came quick so I can't complain. Because of its convenient location (near Hoyt Schermerhorn and so many buses), the available wifi and seating (which as a combo is not readily available in the immediate area), this is a good place to work. Keep in mind that so many businesses/work places are in the area so it can get busy plus students would come here after school as well
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
Personally the two drinks I ordered was very watered down: Jasmine green milk tea lacked flavor and was a liquid non flavored drink. Strawberry milk was said to be good on the strawberry, yet still missing the element of a good drink. Overall, not a fan. Could be because of the time, we came around 7:30pm. Regular Bubbles were soft, no Q texture, and so were the taro bubble. Just missing elements of a good bubble tea drink. Very sad. I would go back to try the soy milk tea tho, was eyeing the mochi balls on the menu.
google avatar

Corliss K.

Yelp
The moment you walk into this store, you can just smell the tea -- this is usually a sign of great quality tea shops. My friends and I got varying teas and we were all happy with this choice! There's a small area to do work and/or hang out with friends.
google avatar

Leilani S.

Yelp
Stumbled across this cute boba/snack place at the corner and I'm glad I tried it! Very spacious area with lots of seating, long tables and tables along the window. Nice decor inside, gives coffee shop vibes. Good areas to come with friends and chill or to study and read a book. I give it a 4 because it's a little pricy for small cup. Two drinks came to about $17 which is pricy for a small cup. Coco mango was good (diary free) wish there was sago instead of the big coconut jelly. Pretty good and not too sweet. Needed a little more mango. The milky strawberry was good too. Weird that this one game in a nicer cup. It's really good, like milk and strawberry purée but after you finish all the strawberry at the bottom it's just milk. Not bad, pretty tasty. Cute place to come and study. Drinks were good but pricy. Workers and nice
google avatar

Tess D.

Yelp
Very yummy! Will definitely be back! The food and drink came out fast! The food was very flavorful and healthy! Cool atmosphere too!

Eva B.

Yelp
A crowded place where many people go to work on the weekend. There's a community table and more scattered seats available. The shop is decorated with fresh flower arrangements. The windows are really dirty, you could see because the sun was shining. We had a avocado swirl which was really heavy and filling.
google avatar

Alyssa A.

Yelp
Tasty bubble tea & lots of different non dairy milk alternatives! I've tried the bobo milk tea, taro milk tea, a veggie poke burrito, & veggie (seaweed salad) onigiri. The poke burrito was messy to eat and very plain. I didn't care for it and wouldn't reorder. The veggie onigiri had WAYYY too much rice vinegar, when I opened the container it smelled like nail polish! But both milk teas were yummy. The tapioca pearls are perfect, not too tough, not too soft, & they gave me a lot. I do think the delicious fresh taro paste could've been mixed in a bit more though, and I'm positive that they gave me almond milk instead of oat as I requested. They are a bit pricey, I paid a little over $8 for my drink, but as a vegan who can't get non dairy milk tea from most establishments, I would return if I were in the area.
google avatar

Samantha W.

Yelp
One of my favorite fruit teas I've had! Their classic fruit tea comes chock-full with watermelon, kiwi, oranges, and more! You can't change sweetness on any of their fruit teas, so mine was a little sweeter than I would normally go for. Their boba was really soft and slightly sweet, which is my favorite. The drinks were a bit pricier than other places, though. My drink turned out to be $8 after adding boba. The interior was super cute, and it looked like quite a few people were working on their laptops. The only thing is that the shop has huge glass windows, so it was pretty hot in there. I'd definitely come back to try more of their drinks!
