Dalahyttur Lodge

Probably one of the best places to stay in Iceland. My wife and I stayed there several years ago and made sure to revisit this hotel. It was just as good as we remembered. Great rooms with great views of the sky for Northern Light viewings. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but it's worth it as there are very little lights around at night. Do yourself an absolute favor and make it to the location in time for dinner at night. The owner is practically a chef and I was dreaming of her dinner since our first visit. Dinner was just as good as I remember it. Breakfast is also definitely worth waking up for! Our second visit will most definitely not be our last! Looking forward to staying here again!

Very nice proprietor. The views were remarkable. Tiny comfy biplex cabin. Great starting point for a trip around the peninsular. No TV, but none needed. We lucked out with great northern lights display. Nice breakfast. Lobby is in the back of the quonset hut building. Google Maps did a good job getting us there.

Amazing place. So nice. The lodges are super pretty. The location is perfect for dark nights and beautiful sky. If the climate conditions permits so the northern lights will definitely show here. Everything is super clean and the host is very very nice and sweet. We only had a hard time driving to the location since is a little hidden and we were driving in the night so the road is a little bumpy and tricky. But once you get here is very easy to find the place. I recommend you booking here.

We had the most amazing one night stay at Dalahyttur in September 2024. While definitely off the beaten path, we had no trouble finding the place thanks to excellent directions sent by Gudrun a few days before our arrival. The cottages are small, beautifully designed and impeccably clean. The owner/chef is so lovely and friendly and the food is delicious (we had dinner and breakfast). The views are definitely the best part and what made the stay for us. Waking up to horses and sheep and stunning views literally out the door of the cottage was amazing. Would 100% recommend this place!

Fantastic scenic natural location. Very serene. Had a cabin. Spacious with back balcony overlooking mountain range. Beautiful views. Modern attached bathroom. Gudrun, the host sent messages for the direction and contact details. Gudrun prepared vegetarian pasta for us. Delicious. Had choices of red wine. Excellent breakfast. Provided detail map for sight seeing. Nice cozy place. Highly recommended.

If you like peace, quiet, nice views, warm and cozy huts, horses, sheep and starry skies with Northern lights, this is the place for you. They serve a decent breakfast and dinner that you need to pre-order a day ahead. We saw some amazing Auroras from our hut.

We literally had this place all to ourselves the first week of June. I had to switch our trip around last minute due to the strike in the Faroe Islands, and the owner was super helpful in letting us switch our dates around with no trouble. We stayed in one of the hotel rooms and were the only guests that night. It is a beautiful, remote location (be prepared for a bumpy drive in and out), with some fantastic views of the mountains. We arrived to late for dinner, but the buffet breakfast was fantastic, especially the waffles! The owner was so friendly and helped us with some recommendations for things to see and do in the Westfjords. The room was cozy and well appointed. My only complaint was the shower water got everywhere in the bathroom. We would definitely stay here again!

I had a wonderful time here! The host was extremely accommodating & eager to make sure we had a good stay. The rooms were extremely comfortable and nice and we had a great view out over the patio.
