Cotogna is a vibrant eatery where rustic Italian fare shines through fresh pastas, wood-fired pizzas, and a cozy atmosphere that feels like a warm hug.
"Just where North Beach starts to dip down into charming Jackson Square diners find Cotogna, a warmer and more casual restaurant from the same group behind Michelin-starred Quince. A woodfire oven and grill under an open hearth produce spit-roasted pork, rabbit, and quail, fresh pasta, and market vegetables. It’s known for its raviolo, a single large filled pasta with fresh ricotta and golden egg yolk inside." - Dianne de Guzman, Eater Staff
"If the last “team bonding” exercise ended with tears in a cursed escape room, gently suggest Cotogna as the next outing. The Italian restaurant in Jackson Square serves phenomenal pastas and pizzas, both in their brick-filled dining room and outside on an Architectural Digest-worthy parklet complete with olive trees, ornamental dried veggies, and blankets. And since this is likely an expensed meal, get everyone their own $32 raviolo to avoid any more crying: the pasta pocket is filled with ricotta and a gooey egg yolk the color of poppies, all soaking in a brown butter sauce you’ll want to drizzle on everything." - ricky rodriguez, julia chen 1, patrick wong
"Italian restaurant Cotogna has opened a gelato cart just outside its doors on Pacific Avenue, Tablehopper reports. Gelateria di Cotogna is open only on Fridays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. for now; a permanent gelato and espresso shop is planned for 2025." - Justine Jones
"Cotogna, located between FiDi and North Beach, has simple, fresh, and consistently delicious food. This place is perfect for date night, special occasions, or lunches when you call in “sick”/decide to abuse the unlimited time-off policy at work. Maybe it’s the dim lights, the brick walls, the wood oven firing away in the back, or the perfect pasta—or the whole package—but Cotogna has the kind of romantic feeling a lot of places try to fake, but can’t." - julia chen 1, lani conway
"Capacity: 6-12 Yes, another Italian spot, and this one with a warmer feel thanks to brick walls, a wood-fired oven, and comforting pasta. There are both indoor and outdoor areas where up to 12 guests can share ricotta-filled raviolos, crudos, grilled Tuscan sausage, and other seasonal Italian plates. They offer catering, too. Complete an inquiry form here." - lani conway
