"COVID-19 update: Open daily (senior hour runs from 8am-9am) with a limit of two customers at a time. Cookbook Market, founded six years ago by two longtime Echo Park residents (who also happen to be married), is the serious home cook's culinary playground. The tiny, tightly edited space stocks plenty of daily provisions (farm-fresh dairy, organic meat and vegetables, homemade pasta, pickles, and salsas), alongside harder-to-find artisanal items (Anson Mills grains, obscure oils and vinegars, special spice blends). Aside from fresh produce and pantry items, you'll also find a host of flavorful prepared salads, sandwiches, and tempting baked treats by the counter. Order a cup of the espresso-based coffee and sip it surrounded by buckets of wildflowers on the benches outside. For those living farther east, a second Cookbook Market location has just opened in Highland Park. COVID-19 disclaimer: We are working hard to keep our listings as up to date as possible (deliveries, outdoor dining, etc.), but given the evolving nature of local COVID-19 restrictions, we recommend double-checking the information in this guide with any business you plan on visiting. Also, please note that we have not vetted any businesses listed within our guides for their compliance with applicable safety regulations."

This store is very conveniently located along a busy strip of Figueroa. The prices are a bit high but the products and produce are fresh. They have a great selection of cold food in the fridge and an amazing deli and bakery section. I love that they have a bunch of fresh flowers for sale.

Cute little market in highland park. They have great spread of pastries. I came here for Bun and Grandma sourdough bread, but wow it’s not inexpensive. $22 for a loaf and around $14 for half of loaf…

I love this place. Amazing selection of fresh produce, wines, cheeses and other interesting odds and ends. My wife and I shopped here as often as we can. Also noticing a lot of people in these reviews don’t understand the economics of running a small grocery store in such an amazing location (I’m sure the rent is high). For me, the convenience, atmosphere and quality easily vault this spot to the top of my list of favorite grocers in the area.

They just increased the price of my favorite snackwich from $6 to $10. A VERY small sandwich with butter, prosciutto and pencil french bread. I won’t go here anymore - they better hope there are enough trust fund hipsters to pay their Erewhon prices. Screw ‘em.

The egg salad sandwich is the worst sandwich I have ever had (and that is saying a lot). The caprese sandwich is one of the best I've ever had. Not sure why they haven't had it lately but as a vegetarian my options are limited. I cannot understand why they are choosing to sell that nasty egg salad sandwich instead of the caprese.

I love this place but don’t go early. They never have all the pastries items out until up to an hour after they’ve opened. Doesn’t make sense considering how many workers are there and also being a neighborhood shop you should have your goods ready for customers to consume at any time of entrance. I’ll continue to support but may just need to make the echo park location my go to shop. They may be smaller but they sure are mightier compared to this location.

Daniel Frantz

Google
Hilariously over priced. $15 sandwich is just bread and some condiments. They must seriously hate food

I have supported the Cookbook store for years. Driving over from Pasadena to Echo Park, worried they may not survive. The reason for the two star review today is pointed at the Highland Park location. I understand the business has been recently sold and this may be the result. Twice the counter girl has been so rude, decent customer service alludes her. She possesses virtually no information about products, of in house production, availability, pricing...really quite useless. Cookbook Store is a lovely setting, interesting products, Working there is on the fun side of retail, not a hard job and yet this counter girl does it so poorly. Disappointing indeed!

Yelp
5/5 cuz they take ebt!!!!!! So colorful and artisan with high quality produce. This is what Whole Foods should look like. All of the packaged foods looked fresh and appetizing. I got the yogurt and granola for $9. Was a nice snack but not filling enough to be a meal. I got 6 apricots as well and they are very high quality. I believe my total was $19 after tax. Not sustainable for my current income to regularly shop here but definitely a nice place to treat myself to good quality food :) Everyone there was very kind as well, and I felt no sense of shame when asking about ebt or using my EBT card

Yelp
Cookbook is such cute place! Love the high-quality, locally sourced things and the staff is very nice. Some interesting sauces from all over the world too, and even found a pasta that looked good for dinner. Definitely a fun spot to drop by after eating some Home State next door and realizing you have nothing at home for dinner.

Dawn C.

Yelp
Was able to snag the prosciutto and beurre on baguette for lunch at Cookbook today, and promptly found my new favorite item! Shoutout to Josh, who works behind the bakery counter, for his recommendations.

Melissa W.

Yelp
I used to shop here a lot during covid and found their prices to be high but within reason ... but they're no longer justifiable. I buy the same exact products from other markets around town and know that cookbook marks up their prices significantly. ($9 for a pint of cherry tomatoes vs $6 at the farmers market) I now only stop in if I'm already on Fig and in a pinch. They also used to put price stickers on all of their items but no longer do ... which is really gross. The people who work there are generally nice and cool it's not worth stopping in.

Mark Edward H.

Yelp
VERY high end boutique grocer in trendy Highland Park. Come see how the beautiful people eat! To be fair, the quality of all product here is excellent. Outstanding even. Great service too.

Erin G.

Yelp
I've been shopping at Cookbook for years, but unfortunately the prices have become unjustifiable. They also don't provide prices, so if you need to know how much something is or are on a budget you need to ask about every single item. It's not for real people buying groceries - it's for wealthy people to virtue signal that they care about healthy food. The cashier won't bag your groceries if you bring your own bag. Overall an unpleasant shopping experience, and there are much better places in the neighborhood to spend your hard-earned money.

Jan S.

Yelp
Turkey sandwiches are so good! They sell out early. Better than the BLT (which was just ok). This place is popular. Prices are up there but it's all high end stuff.

Laena G.

Yelp
This place has truly top quality foods! I love coming here to get gourmet olives and a baguette. It's def a bit on the pricier side but its worth it

Seal S.

Yelp
I LOVE this place. The staff are all really nice and tge food is awesome. When they have the bread that looks like a ribcage, I have to get it. It has so much of the chewy exterior that I love with a soft interior. They have vegetables that you can't get anywhere else, like frisee and kumquats. And I you use a California ebt card they except it. The specialty pastries on the weekend are GREAT. Like the blood orange hearts with cream that they had last sunday.

Gabriel G.

Yelp
This store/location is really lovely. Everyone who works there has been absolutely wonderful. I feel like they truly care rather than just being at a job. They go above and beyond and the food/wine/flowers (etc) they sell are very high quality. I am so glad to have this little gem in my neighborhood.

Yelp
Whenever I want to prepare a fancy meal, need a hard-to-find ingredient, or I want a gourmet lunch or bite, Cookbook is my spot. From Microplanes to Passion fruit, the products are top shelf , delish, organic and fresh! Check out the refrigerators for a litany of cheeses (pimento is my fav!) milks, anchovies, salads etc... love their freshly baked breads and their sweet treats!!! The service is always helpful and attentive. The place is always well organized and clean. The prices are on the higher side so be prepared to pay up (you get what you pay for!). Will be returning as usual...

Yelp
Cookbook has truly outdone itself--raising the price of their micro sandwich, the "Prosciutto Dan", a culinary masterpiece of half a mini baguette, a smear of butter, and a few prosciutto shavings, from $6 to a whopping $10. Yes, ten bucks for a snack that wouldn't satisfy a hamster. I've been a regular for years and the "Dan" has been my go to but I can no longer justify it. Perhaps they believe the prosciutto is serenaded by opera singers and the butter churned by leprechauns. Good luck with that, Cookbook. I'm off to find a place where my wallet and I both leave satisfied. Bon appétit!

Nicole D.

Yelp
Been coming here for years. After Jon & Vinny's purchased Cookbook things have definitely changed for the worse. I noticed a lot of staff changeover and seems the staff is always unhappy. They also recently upped their prices A LOT. For example, I used to come in and get a $6 Prosciutto Dan sandwich everyday. Literally a thin baguette with butter and prosciutto is all that it is. Without warning they upped the price to $10!!! TEN DOLLARS. Are you kidding me?! Their prices were already kind of outrageous but this is just flat out disrespectful. I will be boycotting Cookbook from now on. Good luck!

Yelp
I work a few doors down and have been here countless times. I liked it until I found out something I had eaten numerous times that was labeled vegan was not in fact vegan (contains both milk and egg). I noticed that the item was sometimes rung up as what the label (set out each morning in front of each item) said, which included the brand name (a bake shop with a lot of vegan options) and the word "vegan", and other times rung up as a similar item (from another bake shop). I pointed this out a few times in a span of a few months and last time I was in I asked what the deal was. I was told this (the wrong label being put out) "keeps happening" and that the item is not what the label is. I had to ask if that item was vegan to find out that it wasn't. I would avoid prepared foods from Cookbook for those with allergies.

Malinda G.

Yelp
Just in the area to house sit. Stopped by looking for something to eat. Got the doughnut. A tad pricey but so worth it. Very friendly staff. Kind of like whole foods but on a personal level

Yelp
Cookbook has slowly been growing on me. The first time I went it was purely out of curiosity. They had unique items like lemon cucumber, purple green beans, mandarinquat, red garlic and the most beautiful assortment of wild flowers that changes daily. I tried their infamous prosciutto dan, simple yet delish (baguette, butter & prosciutto). They also sell Nuri Brand sardines from Portugal. I saw a special on this cannery on Youtube and had to get my hands on them one day but was iffy about paying $10 for a can on eBay. Well lo and behold, I randomly looked at the glass case under the register and bam there it was for $5 a can, score! This is definitely a higher priced neighborhood market but the cleanliness, hard to find items and quality of their products makes the price point more understandable. Shout out to the fellow who let me in right at 8am with open arms and provided me with outstanding customer service!!

Allie B.

Yelp
The cutest little market/bodega I've EVER seen. Spencer was so kind and helpful!! We don't live in the area, but would make the drive back just to come here. Highly recommend!

Lauren E.

Yelp
Love the pastries here! They are such good quality and tasty. Whenever I need pastries for a picnic I always come here.

Ann M.

Yelp
I'm going with 4stars because I support small businesses...but damn, these are some serious prices. We came looking for Kernels of Truth corn tortillas, which are reasonably priced and very good. We've tried both the white and blue and both were good, but my suggestion is you go for their masa and make your own! Makes a big difference to have it fresh. Last time they were out of all three and the manager/owner suggested a blue corn dry masa by a local chef and it is delicious. Adding a bit of salt perks up the flavor. Parking is much better than the EP location and that one seems to be a smaller store. I grew up visiting my aunt/cousins in Highland Park and we need to figure out how to let these communities retain their identity while incorporating the new. I was shocked by the overall grocery prices...maybe that's what it takes to be solvent? But I can see why there's been pushback in these ELA communities. On the plus side, Kernels of Truth is a great company to support!

Sadie B.

Yelp
the white boy with glasses is unnecessarily rude. beware of being charged more than the price tag says

Roberto J.

Yelp
Meh. People behind the counter seem pretty pretty arrogant and the $3 nectarine we bought wasn't remotely ripe and the $4 cookie tasted like bird food mashed together into a rock hard frisbee. But other than that - super cute!

Nancy A.

Yelp
I came here looking for a fairly healthy snack to hold me over while I was getting my hair done. I got a bird seed bar and a chocolate dipped macaroon. Both were good and yes, I needed 2 snacks. The bird seed bar was tasty and was filled with nuts. The chocolate macaroon was delicious. It tasted different from other macaroons I've tasted in the past and it seemed like there was a particular spice they put which tasted Indian. The store has fresh vegetables, fruits, pre-made food such as guacamole, hummus, etc. It's a pretty store located on a busy street. It's pricey, but stores along Figueroa are trending that way.

Diego D.

Yelp
Brace yourselves before heading in, overload of quality- service, produce, product and premade food!

Lisa R.

Yelp
A fun, boutique like neighborhood shoppe with fresh locally grown veggies, fine wines, unique flowers, gourmet prepackaged side items, and delicious pastries. There are also great gifts available in the way of cookbooks (how appropriate), tote bags with a statement and a variety of cooking oils. Yes, it is a bit pricey but Cookbook offers items that are difficult to find. Bonus, multiple employees were welcoming and informative while I visited for the first time.

Yelp
I am writing because I was so sad and disappointed to read Claudia G's 2-star review. Does a business deserve the sting of a 2-star review because the customer is making assumptions about the ethnicities of employees? Our household is mixed and we are as liberal as it gets, but there is cause for concern about the precedent a review like this sets. First of all, we were just served at the meat counter by a Black employee the other day. Second, how does this customer know for certain where people are from based on skin tone? Tom Segura, standup comedian has a recent Netflix special where he explains that he looks white but grew up with a Peruvian mother in a Spanish-speaking household. The jokes were about how confusing this is for some hotel receptionists in red states where they don't understand his last name and his fluency in Spanish. Third, how does this customer know that the owners aren't relying on family members to take shifts to help the business survive the pandemic? Fourth, there's another local business we know that is having trouble finding a skilled worker to run a specific part of their food business. It is a customer-facing job. They really need help and candidates keep falling through for a few months now. Should that business wait until a specific ethnicity comes along who meets the qualifications, or should they hire based on the qualifications they need? There is way to much to assume about this situation to shoot first and ask questions later. Who knows for sure but there's a good chance the owners of this establishment vote the same is this customer. The actual white supremacists in power in this country will always maintain a foothold on the rest of us if we keep going with this dynamic. Why aren't we having a conversation first? Why can't this customer write an email or make a call and have a discussion with Cookbook about this concern? Why does it have to be a takedown first? Could the takedown wait until after there's an attempt to communicate and the customer is dismissed or blown off? That would seem like a much more sensible reason to leave such a review. We don't talk anymore. We go from zero to cancel and that is so dangerous. If everyone on the left tried harder to get on the same page, we would eliminate the old white Republican patriarchy altogether and rid ourselves of that destructive force. But no, as long as Claudia has satisfied herself with her 2-star review, the GOP exploits our internal division and rages on with their narratives about cancel culture and "reverse racism". Now, enough of that. Cookbook has great food, with a great presentation. Awesome curating, very clean, a nice neighborhood spot. Our only criticism is that the service is lacking in that it takes the staff longer than you would expect to serve you. They could get people out the door faster if they upped their teamwork/efficiency a bit more.

Andrew G.

Yelp
I love Cookbook so much. Having been a fan of the original location in Echo Park, a patron of Cortez (during that brief moment when it was open), and now a frequenter of the Fig outpost, I can accurately report that Cookbook has only gotten better. All kinds of inspiring and hard-to-find ingredients, delicious prepared grab 'n go food, and fresh-as-it-gets produce. And now they have a selection of natural wine. I didn't have a chance to browse the vins last time I was here, but I've heard that they have some great bottles. Will scope it soon. No, it is not cheap. But I think there is a bit of a disconnect with the Yelpers who compare a tiny, artisanal shop like CB with Bristol Farms or Whole Foods. Cookbook is privately owned, fed with passion and hard work, grown from the ground up by Marta and Robert, much like a lemon tree. BF and WF are both huge corporate chains that buy in huge quantities which qualify for discounts at scale. I'm guessing that small shops' wholesale prices are close to what the huge chains sell the same items for at retail. So for Cookbook to sell something at a price close to a chain supermarket, they would have to be breaking even or even losing money on the product, which is neither realistic nor good business. I'm okay with paying a bit more, because I feel like I'm contributing to something worthwhile, creative, personal and independent. I recommend signing up for their email newsletter. Every Sunday evening, they list the weeks offerings, along with a poem. Beautiful.

Claudia G.

Yelp
I like Cookbook. They have pretty flowers, daily baked goods, and fresh produce that is locally sourced. Plus a nice selection of worldly wines. Why 2 stars: Staff Zero diversity in a diverse neighborhood Everyone is white Why? I want to support establishments that make it a point to be inclusive. The food industry is primarily brown in the back house. Bring them up front. Who picks the flowers? Rancho Gordo beans? The vegetables? The staff is always nice and helpful and I like the array of products but there's a nice mix of cultures in Highland Park and I'd like to see them represented in your establishment.

Brigitte M.

Yelp
Their staff is lovely and makes the experience there **chefs kiss** They are helpful, funny and cool. Kind of a rare trio to find in staff...I tried to leave them a tip a few days ago after a tender encounter, but was told that tipping was no longer available. All I have to say about that is it's fkd that the owners don't have a moral objection to charging 10 dollars for a child's palm worth of blueberries, but wouldn't dare to scare patrons away by asking them to consider tipping their at the end of their transaction.

Tis T.

Yelp
Oh, Cookbook. My favorite store to shop in and least favorite store to pay in. Truly, the best selection of any store in the area with only the very best select of brands. Whoever the buyer is, is killing it. But their prices... oh god their prices are killing me. A seeded ciabatta baguette is $12. Is it delicious and on par with the best bread I've ever had anywhere in the world? Yes. Is it worth it? Hmm. Only sometimes. And woe be ye who tries to buy spices in this shop. You're out of Black Pepper? That'll be $12. COOKBOOK. You're breaking my heart. But then. The flowers. The cornichon. The pristine section of citrus and beautiful array of wines. Fine, cookbook, fine. I'll love you. But only sometimes.

N F.

Yelp
It's a small boutique neighborhood market with high prices- honestly, I'm not bothered by this bc I know there's a cost to quality; especially in this day and age where people prioritize quantity and instant gratification - quality preservation has been a lost art. I appreciate the unique items they have that I might not find at the farmers market or whole foods and are worth purchasing if needed. Their selections are carefully curated and are of high quality - from fresh seasonal produce to prepared goods. They patronize local and small businesses so when you spend money at Cookbook, you are helping local economy in the process. They also seem to be environmentally conscious and exhibit zero/low-waste practices - thank you for being an example! They are the only place I can find the brand of gluten-free vermicelli noodles that I like (otherwise I'd have to order online from the UK). I'm glad to know they sell eucalyptus bundles. I haven't been able to locate any- even at the farmers market! You get a thick bundle for $7 and it lasts a very long time. Bulk bags of Rancho Gordo beans are sold here too! Overall, this is a good place to scope out for inspiration and to see what's in season if that interests you.

Harper K.

Yelp
Hahahahha it is a funny place. Great bread , Bad vibes lol . Cannot believe i wasted my birthday money here

Jonathan H.

Yelp
Here we go again... another establishment that is stupidly overpriced on Figueroa that's taking advantage of the hype!! Where to start....? $6 for a very small box of almost rotten berries. Shame on you! Check your produce before you ask $6 on them. DiNapoli tomatoes that cost more then Whole Foods! Really guys? Prosciutto that costs more than Bristol Farms (same exact one)! Insanely overpriced to the point of disgust. It's one thing if you have a unique product or service but just go high for no reason on products that available at other places for less? Nasty approach and you did it. Even the staff looked like they knew this place won't last. One would expect to be approached or talked to at such prices but that didn't happen either. Avoid and protect your hard earning money from this place. It'll be a coffee shop soon anyways.

Terrie O.

Yelp
Have gone in here pre pandemic and they were rude , slow to help, and serve a lot of attitude. I've been trying to avoid the big grocery stores and wanted to support small businesses in my neighborhood. So Today I thought I would try them out again. After Waiting in line in the heat, the woman at the front desk was so rude and totally inappropriately scolded me about hand sanitizer. I'm sorry I didn't read anything anywhere about using it before touching anything BTW, I also carry and use hand sanitizer and was wearing gloves that I just put on THAT WERE CLEAN . But her attitude made me want to walk out , which I should have!!! I'm so sick of these businesses in a gentrified community serving out the attitude, WONT BE BACK. And don't recommend this shop to anyone. ALSO THE BERRIES AND FRUITS HAD TONS OF GNATS FLYING ALLOVER THEM !! SUPER GROSS.

Karina C.

Yelp
There's no reason people should be taking so long to buy items from this store; this store is tiny. ...I must say, this might be more of a complaint towards the clientele rather than the store itself. The people that serve in the store are wonderful and during our pandemic-waits in line, offer cold water, which is lovely. I was here on a Saturday around 2pm. There were at least 7 people in line. The amount of time people spent in the store compared to how much they purchased did not make sense. I understand that after we wait to enter a store (which is now the new normal), we tend to suddenly forget that they're people outside waiting to enter. I wish Cookbook management would encourage guests to be mindful of the time they take as they shop, especially if there's more than 4 people in line outside.

Karen R.

Yelp
Lovely small gourmet market in Highland Park. Beautiful produce, fresh food, and great selection of specialty foods. Very nice and helpful staff.

Patricia C.

Yelp
I was told by a store employee they didn't have mozzarella because it wasn't in season (?!?) but they had burrata in the fridge. The "curated" products are too expensive: I'm looking at you 20$ dried white beans "cassoulet" mix. Not a fan. The bread is ok. The baguette is nice (but too often on the burnt side) but the focaccia is too airy. The veggie/fruit section is a bit overpriced but I'm willing to pay this price for organic/local products. I'd rather wait for the farmer's market in HLP or in South Pasadena then go there.

Deidre M.

Yelp
Popped by this spot today while my bf was at his office down the street. Very nicely curated store with a gorgeous greeting of unique flowers and plants. Small but diverse selection of produce (was overpriced & comes from farmers markets so...), nice baked breads and small meat counter with lots of cuts and lamb! Yum. Also some grab and go items for lunches and dinner entree selects. Good concept for novelty or occasional shop, but not practice for the normal, working class population. Also didn't appreciate the mild pretentious attitude of the staff - not welcoming nor approachable - like they didn't want to be bothered.

Mario A.

Yelp
I can't understand the pricing at this place, because of 12Oz of juice which is not even freshly made cost $8.30 which is outrageous. I will not go there for anything again!

Yvonne C.

Yelp
I love cookbook! The store is the perfect bougie bodega in the neighborhood. They have a fantastic selection of pastries, and worth trying if you only had to pick one thing to purchase. They also have an excellent curation of flowers, locally grown veggies, and unique pantry items.

Sam G.

Yelp
I have shopped here a couple of times, and one thing that stood out to me the most was the way I was treated when I really needed organic grass- fed bones to make bone broth. I was new to making my own broth and didn't really know where to get the bones from. One day I popped in and asked a question. The girl (I believe she was the manager) told me they didn't have bones that day because they sold out, but they would get them soon and she would call me. She took my number down, asked how many pounds I would need, and soon she DID reach out! She saved a couple of pounds for me and I went to pick it up. This was a while ago but I still remember how good it felt, so this place gets five stars for service and quality of the bones.

Felicia R.

Yelp
Bring back the salads. Return of the salads would greatly improve your establishment. The salads behind the counter with the sandwiches. Understand that you are overpriced and 'curated', no problem with that. Salads please. The end.

Cindy R.

Yelp
What a great surprise to walk into- fresh veggies, charcuterie, fresh baked breads, chocolates, cheeses, and an array of unique products from all over the world! It's a special place in an unexpected part of the city! I love the unique kitchen tools, pans and gifts that you can get for that person that has everything! I can't wait to go back!

Cierra T.

Yelp
I adore the minimal use of plastic! There is even a yogurt option that is plastic-free:):) This place leaves me feeling bright. The service, the food, the flowers, the ideas are all bright :)

Liam W.

Yelp
Cookbook runs a tight ship with logic and precaution that is very much needed during this time. Pre-Covid we would shop at cookbook more sparingly only shopping for sauces, prepared foods, and other unique foods. Now, Cookbook has pretty much become our only form of grocery shopping. The prices are higher, sure, but the safety felt while shopping and quality of foods is unmatched. They only allow two people in the store at a time. It may be excessive for some but the peace of mind is priceless. All the staff constantly wipe down surfaces and mandate people wear masks while inside. There is a frequent line nowadays, but it is very spaced out. I love the vegetables, juices, breads, and meats the most. They have scolded quite a few people for not taking precautions, but it's worth it. Cookbook is doing things the right way. They have saved us from being forced to shop at giant corporate grocery stores that sacrifice safety for profit. Thank you cookbook !!!

Ohh K.

Yelp
Seems Echo Park is leaking. Cookbook has recently become one of the main flag bearing businesses for the next (post hipster) stage of Highland Park's gentrification. It really spun me out recently seeing it full of early 30's Westsiders. Watched a girl in Yoga gear filling half a bag of groceries for $200. There was a Tesla parked out front. Apart from that, the sourdough is to die for and I bought a great cheddar there once. Staff are nice.

Natalie L.

Yelp
I am time and time again, in awe of their consistent quality and fresh, local and seasonal items. The staff is warm, always present, and helpful. I recently ordered a birthday cake and it was by far the best desert my family and I have ever tasted. The consistency, flavor and presentation was phenomenal. Love you cookbook, keep doin what you're doin!

Castille R.

Yelp
This is a cute, farm stand style store. I like the unique products and the convenience of fresh produce when I cannot make it to the farmers market . But the truth is I come here for bub and grandmas bread . I won't stop coming to purchase the bread BUT I need to find another place or have to make it a point to go to waxpaper ( who has amazing customer service ) . This place lacks in the customer service Dept. So yes it's pricey , but I am one that doesn't mind paying for quality and convenience when I am appreciated and made to feel welcomed . Not when there are three people in an empty shop , and not one can say hello / welcome . And then on my way out seemed disgruntle that I said the first hello ! So my advice , in a competitive world , where there are choices , try to acknowledge your customers at the very least .

I appreciate the charm of this little market and don't even mind the high prices, which aren't even that bad for anyone who's ever been to Erewhon, but I've got to say I was totally aghast that during the height of this Coronavirus scare that the clerk who rang up my order on the register, and then grabbed my baguette with her bare hands to place it in the bag I mean, even during non-flu seasons, that's still completely unsanitary. I can only imagine how many germs are on the register. Please have a talk with the staff and stress the importance of gloves and cleanliness, please.
