Step into a glamorous time warp at Cicada, where 1920s Art Deco charm meets Californian Italian cuisine and a lively big band scene in Downtown LA.
"Cicada Club is one of those places that reminds you that Los Angeles is much cooler than it will ever get credit for. This Downtown supper club has all the Old Hollywood, art-deco looks you could want and a live band that gets the dance floor heated up early. You can go all-in for the dinner setup, or just buy separate tickets to come and dance (they usually run $20-25). That might seem steep, but it’s the price you pay for time travel. "Cicada is a glamorous, art deco supper club built into the 1928 avant-garde space of the Alexander & Oviatt Haberdashery. From the chandeliers to the upstairs bar, the design is original from when the Oviatt building was first built, and even the entrance doors are the original Lalique Angel Doors adorned with the Alexander & Oviatt crest. The club features big band acts themed from the 1920s to 1950s. We don't frequent it often, but it is the place to go when you want to get your Mad Men on and have some fun." - TypeEd
"Cicada Club is one of those places that reminds you there’s always more to downtown LA than meets the eye. This Art Deco supper club across from Pershing Square feels as if you’re eating in the grand ballroom of the Titanic (sans iceberg), complete with a live brass band that gets the dance floor heated up early. You can go all-in for the dinner setup, or just buy separate tickets to just come and dance. The dress code is suits and cocktail dresses—show up in a flapper outfit and no one will blink an eye. If you’re looking for something different to do on your birthday this year, take the crew to Cicada Club. " - nikko duren, brant cox, sylvio martins
"Truth be told if you don’t dress up at Cicada Club, you’re the one who’s going to feel stupid. This reservation-only supper club Downtown looks like you accidentally slipped into a black hole and landed in 1920s Manhattan. There’s a huge live swing band, people unironically dressed in flapper outfits, and a dance floor that gets started early and never stops. The prix fixe menu is admittedly just OK, but nobody really cares when you’re able to role-play Daisy Buchanan all night." - brant cox, sylvio martins
"Cicada sports some serious 1920s Art Deco style in Downtown LA. Located in the Oviatt building, an opulent dining room with old-growth oak columns and gold leaf ceilings makes for quite an evening of vintage elegance. The kind of place to hold a serious dance party late into the night." - Matthew Kang, Crystal Coser
