Nestled in a beachside shack that feels more dive than dining, Cholada serves up authentic Thai curries, noodles, and salads in a relaxed setting.
"When we asked Giada where she eats in LA when she’s not eating Italian food, this was the first spot she mentioned. If you’re in Malibu, take her recommendation: Cholada is a total original and your one and only spot for a solid plate of pad see ew after a day in the sand." - brennan carley
"If you’re craving some drunken noodles or panang curry pre- or post-beach, Cholada is where you head. The tiny restaurant next to Reel Inn looks like another PCH seafood shack from the outside, but inside it’s a no-frills, family-run spot serving great Thai favorites." - Brant Cox, Sylvio Martins, Nikko Duren
"As you drive out to Malibu, one of the first things you notice (or fail to notice) on PCH is a tiny little blue shack that looks like a bait shop abandoned since the 80’s. That’s Cholada, and it’s home to the best Thai food on the beach. In an area largely dominated by musty seafood restaurants and overpriced chains catering to wandering tourists, Cholada is a total original and your one and only spot for a solid plate of pad se ew after a day in the sand." - jess basser sanders, brant cox
"As you drive out to Malibu, one of the first things you notice (or completely miss) on PCH is a tiny little blue shack that looks like a bait shop abandoned since the '80s. That’s Cholada, and it’s home to the best Thai food you'll find anywhere this close to the beach. In an area largely dominated by musty seafood restaurants and overpriced chains catering to wandering tourists, Cholada is a total original and a perfect stop for a solid plate of pad see ew after a day in the sand." - Brant Cox
"COVID-19 Update: Open for takeout. While it may not look like much more than a roadside shack to the untrained eye, locals know that inside is where you’ll find the best Thai food this side of the 405. The interior is decidedly no frills—same goes for the backyard area—but that doesn’t take away from the fact that the lengthy menu of curries, noodles, and soups (the Tom Kah—coconut milk-broth, lemongrass, and mushrooms—is out of this world) is authentic and executed to delicious results. Get the pineapple-fried rice and a few orders of “golden bags” for the table (funny name, seriously good) and wash it all down with some Thai coffee (some of the best in all of LA). COVID-19 Disclaimer: We are working hard to keep our listings as up to date as possible (deliveries, outdoor dining, etc.), but given the evolving nature of local COVID-19 restrictions, we recommend double-checking the information in this guide with any business you plan on visiting. Also, please note that we have not vetted any businesses listed within our guides for their compliance with applicable safety regulations."
