Chola offers a vibrant Indian dining experience with a diverse menu featuring everything from rich curries to fresh seafood, all in a stylish setting.
"Chola has been serving the Midtown East neighborhood for over 20 years, sending out affordable to-go lunches for office workers and nightly feasts of coastal Indian fare. Expect a sprawling, pan-regional menu of meat dishes, vegetarian fare, and vegan items, but notable seafood dishes include Mumbai fish fry and prawns koliwada." - Eater Staff
"Bright, fresh and elegantly appointed Chola is nestled amidst chic design shops and upscale dining spots. Warm and hospitable servers are at the ready in its dining room, which dons polished wood floors, grey upholstery and cream walls.Dishes arrive in gleaming metal bowls, enticing diners to dig into the likes of tandoor and vegan specialties. However, the underlying theme is southern coastal cuisine, as revealed in a delicious Goan fish curry redolent of coconut milk and tamarind. Your meal may reach a high point with rich and peppery Chettinad chicken curry. Matched with curry leaf-studded lemon rice, it's a match made in heaven." - Michelin Inspector
"Midtown East has no shortage of establishments with white tablecloths that serve as appropriate backdrops for anyone coming from a 5pm budget meeting. Chola has all of those things, but it’s special because, as soon as you eat a dosa filled with lentils or bhindi sasuralwali (spiced okra), you’ll forget about Steve’s twenty-minute question he chose to save until the end of the meeting. The menu ranges from Northern and Southern specialties, including a lot of seafood options. If you order like we do, dinner will come out to about $50 per person, but it’s worth it, especially if you get lemon rice on the side." - Hannah Albertine
"A great place for Indian food where the chef is from Delhi."
"With this opening, Mathur will leave his other restaurants — Dhaba, Chote Nawab, Chola, Sahib, and Malai Marke — to focus on Saar." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya
