Chef Rob's Gourmet Cafe

Had our first dinner in Belize at Chef Rob’s and we’re still talking about it after we’re back home. A short walk/quick drive south of Hamanasi (if you aren’t on a meal plan). Mike was attentive and made us feel welcome. Had the pasta with shrimp in saffron cream sauce and the pan fried sailfish fillet with potatoes and veggies. Both were delicious! Beautiful location right on the beach. Fun to walk out onto the sand after a romantic dinner.

Do not miss this culinary delight when you are in Hopkins Belize. Chef Rob, his beautiful wife, and wonderful staff make this meal a once in a lifetime experience. I'm always impressed with this place. The food is always great. The servers are very friendly and cordial. The food. Where do I start the surf and turf, lobster, and steak? It was out of this world. I could eat that 3 times a day all week. The atmosphere is always exquisite. I would love to give more stars 10.

Both soups were thin and without any garnish.(Creamy coconut and shrimp bisque) The salad was iceberg with balsamic dressing and a squeeze of balsamic glaze. A drunk guest loudly exclaimed it was the best steak he ever had so three of us ordered the ribeye. They were the correct doneness, pleased with that. But there was barely a sear on them at all, and the smell and taste of butane torch didn't fade until I was taking my last bites. I thought that maybe they used their hot rocks to cook them but maybe the grill was just low and they had to scramble. Super lean also, I could have sworn I was eating pork tenderloin(but that's just be the nature of the local beef down here, we drove by a lot of farms with skinny cows this week). My chocolate muffin was good, but the rest of the group had the marinated fruit with ice cream. The fruit was underripe and I couldn't taste any sweetness from the marinade(usually restaurants will marinate fruit with infused simple syrup but this might've just been a liqueur). Chef Rob if you read this I'm sorry we caught you on a bad day. Sorry you couldn't make my buddy a lime or lemonade and just gave him a sprite with no explanation, sorry that we had to ask for someone to clear our dirty plates. Sorry we had to ask for water more than once before y'all brought it. Maybe next year it will be better. Get a timer for your microgreen lights, half your trays were scorched. It shouldn't be running full blast at 9pm in the dining room anyways, the purple lovecraftian glow was a little weird with the 80s pop hits. Better food and service found at the Barracuda or the Singanga(at the Hanamassi resort).

Chef's table with chef Rob might be the best meal I've ever had. 7 courses of creative dishes, all delicious, prepared right in front of you, with anecdotes and jokes and an immeasurable level of care for the food and the diners... make for an unforgettable evening. Bring your appetite and wear a pair of pants one size too large. Thank you Chef!

The food here is the best on Almond Beach. The view is astonishing and the service is unmatched. Michael took such good care of us, meeting all of our needs, and answering all of our questions. In our one week vacation, we ate here twice. You will not be disappointed if you stop in! Make sure you have the Love on the Rocks Menu with Michael!

We’ve been in Hopkins for almost a week and we ate at Chef Rob‘s our second night here. I’ve already left review on Tripadvisor, but we ate there again tonight and I really want to review them again. My first time at the restaurant I had a ribeye steak which I thought was very good. But tonight is our last night in Belize and I thought I should really have fish in Hopkins again because everything is so fresh. I ordered a pan seared snapper in lemongrass coconut sauce (I think that was the sauce) And it was so incredibly good that I have to share. The chef came by our table after we had finished eating and we got a chance to compliment him. He told us that the fish had come in today (Thursday). It was so fresh and so perfectly cooked and just one of the best dishes I have had in Belize. So I’m very happy that we had a chance to return to the restaurant and I highly recommend it.

Everything about this place is great! We ate there twice and when we came back the 2nd time, the bartender even remembered my crazy drink I was ordering. It was rum and vodka and water with a splash of cranberry. Haha. They change the menu every day. The ribeye was amazing. It was so tender and cooked perfectly. They also make these potatoes with vegetables on top and the presentation is phenomenal! Some people in my group ordered the soups and they did not care for the soups though. But everybody liked their main courses! It was so good - we ate there twice. We also met the owner. And all the employees are very helpful and nice!
