Holy smokes The manager of the Ovolo South Yarra hotel sent us here Earl grey excellent, I'm a bit of a snob about my tea and this please knocks it out of the park. Super flat white Prompt service and outstanding food My husband ordered the pork belly and I ordered the eggs Benedict. Love the have GF options and the GF toast excellent We are here for class reunion and I can see us coming back to this place several times before we go home.

Came here with my family, 4 of us in total on a weekend for brunch and was able to be seated very quickly. Everything was fantastic, staff was very pleasant and food was amazing!!! We chose the sautéed mixed mushrooms over toast with cauliflower, kale, goat cheese, shallots, and poached eggs. The mushrooms provided an earthy background, while the other components brought a savory depth to the dish. Kudos to the staff for taking extra prep time to adequately clean the kale, and remove the tougher veins, and less tender larger leaves. The toast was a nice substrate for the semi congealed yolk. Unctuous without being too runny. We rewarded ourselves for the healthy start to our meal by following it up with the ricotta pancakes. Lofted by whipping the egg whites, the texture was less dense than most pancakes, though not soufflé airiness. A rhubarb raspberry compote added a balance of sweet and tart, with grapes and strawberries allowing different notes. Crushed pistachios added some crunch. If that weren't enough, a dollop of marscapone was there for additional richness, and I am pretty sure it had some lemon blended in. My wife and I weren't worthy of such a sublime breakfast. I am just glad they didn't know that.

Visiting Melbourne and decided this cafe looked inviting. Had the mushroom yesterday which was delish but decided on the Salmon this morning. Yummo Service is excellent as is the Food and coffee. Highly Recommend and they are open 7 days a week

Very nice cafe. Lively atmosphere & great environment. Strongly recommend confit duck salad to those who are looking for healthy green&protein! (it doesn't have heavy sources to make you feel thirsty after the meal)

Came with my husband for the first time at around 10:20am. There were plenty of empty tables inside, however we couldn't be seated there because there were bookings made in the next 30 minutes. Instead we were seated at a bar table and stools next to where the coffee was being made. Worst seats. Very disappointing and we didn't want to book online, when they require a credit card. Food was good, not sensational and I wouldn't say it is value for money. Will not support this business again.

Very neat venue with funky lighting and a nice vibe. Nice location on a quiet side street with outdoor seating, but no particular view. The smashed avocado toast was alright, kinda bland and lacklustre. The toast was far too hard and I had to ask for a steak knife to cut it. Less than 5 minutes after ordering my food was out, which makes me wary and might have explained the toast (probably toasted ahead of time). The coffee was great. It's hard to find a decent soy cap, and his one was great.

Yay! Another great place near me that serves brunch. I am a lucky lady. Coming here before 11am on a weekend ensured we got seated right away, although the food took awhile to arrive. I was a bit worried seeing other tables get theirs sooner but when it arrived, oh my... First the coffee. My favourite mocha in Melbourne! Sweet and smooth, it's worth the $4 price tag. So good in fact I came back the next day for take away! Then came the food. My friend had the avo on toast. It looked healthy yet tasty having cherry tomatoes and a poached egg added to the dish. I went with asparagus, smoked salmon and poached eggs with a side of hash browns. It was more like a rectangle of hash browns, very interesting and tasty. A filling meal but not overly indulgent so I could still walk home easily! The atmosphere is modern yet comfortable. There are daily specials and be prepared to share the community table if you have a small party. It's definitely a place I'll be returning to soon.

Awesome food and coffee in South Yarra worth visiting. Stopped in for brunch and ordered the ham eggs benedict and the mascarpone pancakes. The ham eggs benedict was awesome. The meat itself was like a shredded ham that was re-constructed to be a single piece. The beet puree was the perfect sauce to tie everything together while adding some sweetness. The mascarpone pancakes were dreamy! They were perfectly fluffy and stacked 3 high. It was served with fresh fruits, pistachios, and whipped cream. The latte and cappuccino we got was also great. Would definitely stop by if we're every in Melbourne again.

What a place! You can't go wrong with this little beauty. The staff were all exceptional, the food was outstanding and the atmosphere was alive and inviting. We went early in the week and had their breakfast menu. There was everything you could hope for and the meals that were delivered to the table were large servings and the bacon was the best I've tasted in a long time and cooked to perfection. Certainly a place I'll be visiting again. Can't suggest this cafe enough. A must try in my books.

Went here on a Sunday at around 12.30 having studied their menu beforehand and had a hankering for crab. We were seated within minutes but basically seated at the counter. So the coffee machine was sort of going off in our faces as we tried to make conversation. We were seated down to menus, glasses of water and a bottle of water. How efficient. However I ordered an extra hot coffee and my friend ordered a flat white and we got it 15 minutes after being seated. And believe me I saw the action at the coffee machine and the barista did not look uber busy. We ordered our meals when we ordered the coffee. The coffee was warm and though I'm sure it would have tasted amazing if it was hot, that is not what I got. I ordered the crab spanner omelette which came with a salad and chilli jam for $19.50. I thought the price was pretty steep for just eggs and carb but I guess crab is expensive. It would be nice to get some toast or something else on the side. My friend ordered the smoked salmon with asparagus poached eggs hash brown and brioche crumbs. Our meals arrived 25 minutes later. Literally the slowest service I have ever experienced My chilli crab omelette was covered in this sticky sweet syrup which resembled maple syrup or honey and was sickly sweet. I could barely mask the sweetness with salt pepper and Tabasco. I got up to tell the waitress that I needed some chilli and another staff member came up and offered to replace the meal. How nice because I don't think I could have had that omelette. I also got the smoked salmon dish. The smoked salmon was nice. The hash brown was substantial and nice. But there was way too much asparagus and I didn't think the poached eggs complemented anything on the plate. There was some sort of mint green sauce on the plate which only covered the asparagus. And though nice, eating lots of asparagus was boring. My friend described his meal as repetitive and I felt that too. No outstanding flavours. Just the same mouthful over and over again. Until you are just eating the meal because you are hungry but not really savouring it. Pros The staff was really nice. The coffee would have been nice if it was hot Seating was provided quickly Cons Wait for both coffee and food is too long. My friend got his second coffee before the food Crab omelette with chilli does not have a kick to it but is sweet. Get the smoked salmon dish with an extra ie toast or guacamole

Brunching around Melbourne is one of the things I love most and this place didn't disappoint. On weekends I like to pretend I'm hip and in the know and this place makes me feel like I'm in the thick of it with its cool and friendly staff and modern decor. The food was great and filling and like always I went with something savory, the salmon and asparagus thingy. Must try the pancakes next time, they looked great. Definitely a place I would come back to!

I guess the fact that they serve beautiful food and even beautifuler coffee in the beautifulest space makes up for the fact that their name conjures an ugly, ugly, ugly association that shall not be further mentioned... Breakfast all day was really the 5-star tipping point for for me, and not only the fact that it's all day, but that it's one of the best breakfasts I've yet to have in Melbourne and it revolved around something as simple as bircher with poached pear. And I can have it anytime during opening hours. Or maybe it was the incredible long black. Or maybe the kind server who remembered me from visits weeks apart from one another. Or maybe it was the lighting - seriously, the lighting of this place made me feel almost as beautiful as everyone else in there. It was *not* the name, that's for sure. Yikes.

Take a barista who has just moved from Perth who greets your, "How are you this morning?" with a elated "I'm AMAZING!", an interior that is a feast for your eyes (think coffee cup and saucers turned into light fixtures to hang above the door, cherry blossoms against crisp white subway tiles and retro cool macramé plant hangers holding glass fish bowls) as it is for the tastebuds. Coffee: Amazing. The white beans are a blend of Brazilian, Indian, Guatemalan and Columbian beans. Your black coffee is a Brazilian and Kenyan blend OR if a filter or aero press is more your thing its an Ethiopian which I'm told has notes of passionfruit and creamy peach. Melbourne, you understand me! The barista and I riffed coffee nerd for a few minutes before he returned to his duties as SUPER barista. Food: Breakfast. How could you go past the twice cooked marmalade French toast, oranges and vanilla mousse or maybe the smashed avo with fetta, capers, tomato, radish chives and dill. Or baked beans with haloumi and coriander pesto. I opted for the protein-rich yet 'clean' blonde omelet with smoked salmon and a fennel and coriander salad. Brain food x 100 and freakin' delicious. If I was here for lunch I'd be hard pressed to deny myself the braised saltbush lamb sandwich with crusted peas, feta, chili and mint. I revisited a few times while I was staying in the area and their take-away service was equally as dazzling.

Didn't really get to enjoy their menu yet. But as far as customer service and coffee for that price goes. I've experienced better. Don't know what these two birds one stone means but I think it means the waiter asking you "did you want a takeaway coffee without you asking for a takeaway coffee". Having a cafe, the staff has a duty to let customer say whether they want a coffee in the first place and if they want to have it there or takeaway. I think I was not hip enough for this place so that might explain it.

I have the biggest crush on Two Birds One Stone. I mean, how could I not when they cover all my key requirements in a cafe? Great design - TICK Bangin' coffee - TICK Interesting menu items - TICK Fun staff - TICK Throw in some terrariums and good music, and you can be certain that I want to go steady with this new addition to South Yarra. My current menu picks - the blonde omelet with hot smoked salmon, fennel and chili is protein packed and tasty without being over-the-top rich. The "One Stone" breakfast is a vegetarians delight with corn, haloumi, mushrooms and other veggie goodies. Rotating daily salads are fresh and vibrant and mean you can eat a cake afterwards without guilt. If you're a design nut then your eyeballs will be as delighted as your mouth as you take in all the light fixtures, tables and furniture. Mmmm industrial design... *drool*. Also, please try and steal a terrarium for me.

Topped off a weekend in Melbourne with brunch here - we all had the "Two Birds, One Stone" breakfast, which is epic - 2 eggs, toast, avocado, haloumi, a portobello mushroom and tomatoes... I also added the bacon & sausage. I had a hard time finishing it. It was just endless. That is very unlike me. Two of my girlfriends added on bacon AND beans and... lol... omg. TMF!!! TMF!* WTFBBQ?!! I scoped this out on my Yelp/Time Out Melbourne investigations, and to my delight, it was right acrosss the road from the apartments we were staying at. The wait was 20+ mins for our table, which was a little over the top, and we started getting antsy and wondering if it was such a great idea to eat here after all, but you know what? Breakfast was so awesome (and the coffee) that we all wholeheartedly agreed it was well worth waiting for. "Who chose this spot?" "Dana found it!!!" "Good job girl!!!" A+ * Too much food.

Even though I live in the area I've always found South Yarra's array of restaurants and cafes to be pretentious and not overly exciting. Well that changed this morning when I made a trip to Two Birds One Stone for breakfast and coffee. Upon walking in I was instantly impressed by the decor, in particular the sand blasted oak stools. I then looked up and noticed they stocked Five Senses coffee. We were in for a good morning. After being quickly seated I ordered the smashed avocado (a favourite of mine) and this was probably the best I'd had. Delish. A definite stop if you're in South Yarra and in need of breakfast or lunch.

I had a night with a friend in Melbourne whilst traveling on my way back to Auckland from Perth. Fortunately this little gem of a cafe was her local for breakfast. We were pushed for time but the service was prompt and staff served with a smile. I ordered the mushroom and they combined all the good things into a taste sensation. Even though due to slight jet lag I was up early and my stomach not so hungry I had no problem devouring this delectable feast. Shall not hesitate on a stopover through Melbourne in the future so I can be a repeats offender.

On a day trip from Sydney to look at property. I stepped off the plane and followed the reviews here. It was a wonderful way to start the day. Great New York style little place, with great service. I had a fresh orange juice and the chili-scrambled eggs. It was superb. Amazingly presented and absolutely delicious. I decided on the spot to move to South Yarra. I'll be a regular.

What a cool place! Even the name gives its coolness away. Very hipster, very Melbourne, very impressionable on a German who lacks hipster and good coffee in one sentence - in one place. We came here based on the Yelp reviews and because we were staying a stone's throw away from here. And let me say, it did not disappoint. I really loved the decor of the place, because it gave space to everyone in every form. From round booths to sit in, to a huge table people can sit at together, to the counter that presents all its yummy coffee and sweets, that make your mouth water. The staff is equally cool and hipster. I had a flat white and a cold drip, both were very yummy. Their breakfast menu is also typical ozzy with smashed avo or eggs benedict being on their menu. I opted for the smashed avo with feta on glutenfree bread, which was not only healthy, but also super yum. Would definitely recommend it to everyone who is in the South Yarra area.

We weren't quite sure if we wanted to make the trek out from CBD to Two Birds One Stone for brunch, but we decided to go for it after giving the reviews one more glance. We showed up a little on the later side, relatively speaking - around 9:30 in the morning or so - and we got lucky and were able to snag a couple of seats at the coffee bar off to the side. The space is airy, and even though there's not much floor space, there are booths, tables, and a good utilization of every available countertop to make sure as many folks can get seated. There are also a few spots outside, from what I could tell, but given it had just stopped raining and was a bit overcast, I was glad we made it inside. We had our orders taken promptly, and the food came out relatively quickly as well, so no complaints there. I ended up going with an orange juice, and although it was fresh-squeezed, I was a bit puzzled as to why it was served with ice - I have usually only encountered that with bottled juice from concentrate in Europe previously. That said, it mainly meant that I had to drink it quicker before it diluted the flavor. The food itself, to no surprise, was absolutely fantastic here. The famed ricotta pancakes are some of the best I've had, largely because despite the ricotta, the pancakes are fluffy (as evidenced by their height) and not as dense as other iterations I have had. They did reduce the number of pancakes to two from three, but, to be honest, their reasoning (and my experience here now) made sense - no one would likely finish the third pancake as it is quite filling. All of the fruit it is served with is delicious, but the topper (literally and figuratively) is the mascarpone, which adds a nice creaminess and soaks into the spongelike pancakes. My wife went with the pork belly, which was incredibly delicious and had the perfect balance of crispness and succulence. I really enjoyed the cauliflower purée as well; that added a nice earthiness to contrast against the richness of the pork. We also ordered an unnecessary side of bacon, and to be honest, that was nothing to write home about - it was a little undercooked and definitely the weakest part of the entire meal. There's no doubt that whenever I make it back, I'd love to eat breakfast or brunch here again. Both mains we had were phenomenal, and there were so many other items listed (such as the twice-cooked French toast) that made me wish I had another day to come back. Even if it's not in the heart of downtown Melbourne, it is worth the trip out to eat here.

Overcast cold windy rainy Melbourne day. Quintessential Melbourne weather did not stop us from making the trek out to this brunch spot. The menu is amazing!!!! I had such a difficult time choosing but narrowed it down to Soba noodle salad and hashbrown fritters with a poached egg and salmon. Lucky for me my friend ordered the fritters so I was able to swap halfway with her to enjoy the best of both a fusion asian lunch and traditional western breakfast. The soba noodles were served cold and whilst it didn't look like the tastiest dish I'd ever seen it sure did taste awesome. The egg was poached to perfection. I do enjoy a nicely poached runny egg. My other friend opted for the very pretty house made bircher with poached pears, pistachios & cranberries. This was nice too and oh so pretty but just a word of warning, unless you have a sweet tooth of a morning it's probably not advisable to get this dish on its on. She struggled to finish it because it just was too much in the end so we had to help her out. #foodwinning!

We went there unplanned for a late breakfast and the food was great. The service was friendly and fast, plus the chef was very understanding since we requested well cooked platter for my pregnant wife. Prices are reasonable (approx. $50 for two including coffee). I'd def go there again if in the area.

Another great find. Stumbled across here one sunday morning hungover and I ate the most amazing toast, I wish I could remember its name. It was so sweet and delicious we considered buying it again. The Decor is so chill and rustic. Another Classic Melbourne Cafe.

Two Bird One Stone set up by the same group behind Liar Liar, Three Bags Full and Apte. The cafe it self was sophisticated, warm with high ceilings, fresh flowers, panelled walls, mini tea cup hanging lighting. love their interior and their food always comes in a very generous size

Quite expensive brekky. $58 for 2x pancakes, side of bacon & coffee. Good food but too pricey. Decor is pleasant but location lacks charm or atmosphere. Good for well-heeled local office workers

Two Birds One Stone is a great little find. Although it's kind of hidden down a little South Yarra one-way street, it is always super busy. The interior has a great design- it's a lovely dining experience. I thought the smashed avocado on two small pieces of sourdough was quite expensive for $19, but enjoyable all the same. Great coffee, friendly staff and lots of yummy treats in the food cabinet! Their specials are usually pretty good too, make sure to look for the specials menu.

I love this place. The food is excellent and the staff is the best, but very busy. They were so nice, they even convinced me to taste the famous Australian delicacy of Vegemite (what?) lol. The food and atmosphere was always great and didn't disappoint! Oh, "Did I mention the great coffee?" I could drink that all day. The only thing that could have made this experience better would have been free wifi, however, it's probably best, since it's hard enough to get a seat. I look forward to returning!

Good coffee great service but over priced Ruben sandwich as it's 2 slices of bread one slice of pastrami some cabbage and over all disappointing for $18

Amazing food!! And an interesting menu with double layered French toast and baguettes that take you back to France..... Very polite service with a touch of quirky, a place like this would be right at home in the heart of Melbourne or Newtown Sydney. A must visit!

This is the BEST breakfast I have EVER eaten. The pancakes with berries, lemon drizzle, and mascarpone cheese were fabulous at the time and when finished the next day. In fact, I'm currently back for a second serving. I also sampled the chia pudding, which was like a taste of summer. So if you are looking for lighter fair, that too is excellent!

ricotta hot cakes, pandan oatmeal (so good!), and one of the best eggs Benedicts I've had - instead of the sliced ham that's typically used, they use a thick "cake" that's made of smoked meat - so delicious the pandan oatmeal is not too sweet and you can really taste the pandan (and it's not very green like some of the pandan desserts). Great coffee and my friend's hot chocolate looked really good too.

This is a little hidden gem! Just of the main Toorak road, this is a really cool brunch place. I love their mushrooms over here for some reason! The coffee is really nice too, and the staff is super friendly!

The food here is to die for, you can't go past the mushroom egg meal it was the best thing I've ever tasted! The French toast was good as well but not on the same level as the mushroom breaky. Great coffee and really fresh and tasty orange juice.

Am I cool enough for this place? Hell no! But do I care? No. The coffee here is the bomb and that is all that needs to be said. I am no coffee snob, I have no idea of the difference between "black" and "white" coffee or why this place only has these 2 things listed on their blackboard of drinks menu. However, once I figured out how to order (from the very helpful waitress) I managed to slam down one of the smoothest and full bodied coffees I have had in a while. The only loss of star is the confusion this little out of towner had about how to order a take away coffee. It's probably an "Adelaide thing," but it grates on me when people assume you should "just know" these things. These guys are killing three birds with one stone in my opinion... - Great venue with indoor hanging pot plants + good looking menu (yet to try) - Smashing coffee - Service was always friendly, super and efficient

Two Birds One Stone is delightful. Tucked down Claremont St in South Yarra, it's less busy than Top Paddock or Three Bags Full (all connected) but a beautiful space. Think terrariums, hanging macramé plants, some lovely booths to relax in, window seating with natural light and a large communal table. As the name suggests, both breakfast and lunch are served all day thus killing two birds with one stone. My picks on the menu? Go for the house made bircher muesli with poached pear, pistachios and cranberries or try the toasted banana and coconut bread. It wouldn't be a café in Melbourne, if there wasn't a smashed avocado on toast included on the menu (this comes with feta, capers, chives and dill -yum!).The list goes on, it's a great menu. In addition, the coffee well and truly hits the mark. If you're very lucky and the strawberry crepes with lemon butter appear as a daily special - thank your lucky stars and order it.

When it was announced that the guys behind Three Bags Full (and previously Apte) were opening another cafe, it went immediately on the to-do list. The fit out is lovely and very different from TBF. Bright and neutral, it has a very clean but warm feel to the small space. Both breakfast and lunch menus are available all day - I love that! It does make choosing a dish more difficult though because there are plenty of very tempting options. I opted for the corn, halumi and zucchini fritters with guacamole and salmon. Highly recommended for fritter fans! My dining buddy got the lamb roll with mint and peas, which he described as "like the lamb roast I remember from childhood". I had a bite and immediately envied said childhood. My mum isn't much of a cook and I never had any roast taste like that! The coffee of course is on the mark too - wouldn't give a 5 star rating without it :)

I'm never really led astray when I trust the review of our Community Managers. When 3 of them each gave this place 5 stars, I had to get there STAT. Fortunately, I had a day off & was staying in South Yarra looking for breakfast. Coffee is superb. Menu makes you want to order the lot. Like ALL of the ITEMS. Busy with patrons, but able to get a table and quick service. My first visit I had the namesake breakfast plate, which featured all of my favourite breakfast items: sourdough, poachers, bacon, avocado, & haloumi. My second visit I had the pork belly lunch plate, which caught the attention of the diners seated next to us. Husband had the the twice cooked marmalade French toast. I can only give this place 5 stars. I would give it 12 if I could. They've nailed it in all they're doing here. LOVE IT.

I really enjoyed having breakfast here on several occasions. It can get a bit busy, the only drawback, but great food and well cooked. The coffee helps too!

Not yet a yelp regular but an IRL regular through-and-through! I happily followed this team from Three Bags Full in Abbotsford to my home turf of South Yarra! They are a haven in the industrial Claremont Street and South Yarra's brunch salvation! Service is always friendly, welcoming and super efficient! Coffee is delicious and varied alongside a contemporary and creative menu with sexy special twists on old favourites: eggs benedict with house smoked ham hock and marmalade french toast with orange segments and vanilla mousse! With lunch and breakfast options available all day everyday this place welcomes new 'regulars' with open arms!
