"Rank: #15 "Reale places huge emphasis on the world of plants, with a cuisine style that looks to leave guests in shock and awe – succeeding with nearly every mouthful. The food is the result of profound technical research. For each component ingredient, all possible nuances are dissected to find the optimum potential for each combination. The minimalism on the plate belies the complexity of flavour at play. With the dishes ‘Carrot’, ‘Courgette’, ‘Cauliflower’ (depending on the time of year), there is much more beyond their modest names."

We drove out of our way just to stay here and to enjoy their amazing restaurant, Reale. The stay was fantastic! Luxurious hotel with one of the best restaurants in the world. The property is set in a picturesque vineyard among the mountains in a converted monastery with contemporary minimalist interiors. The wine cellar is a must see. We absolutely adored the luxurious bedsheets and large bathroom. There was a huge hot tub in the room, but I don’t think they have a pool. No need! Breakfast is fresh farm to table, too. The cappuccino was just perfect and the breakfast breads and tarts made there were a great way to start our day! We also ordered their omelet and scrambled eggs. Staff is welcoming and friendly. We will be back, grazie!

I loved everything about this experience. I am not one who can afford such luxuries but I was travelling alone in Italy and when I saw that this gem was only a couple of hours away I booked a room in Castel de Sangro and booked into Casadonna Reale for the tasting menu. |I have always loved food and cooking, I often get annoyed when we go out to eat and I think - I could have cooked that, I definitely didn’t think that leaving here. I have no idea how these amazing chefs can do so many different processes with the same vegetable. Or get so much essence from a bay leaf to make a beautiful sauce. It was truly a magical experience for me. |The bread course was a phenomenon, I also make bread so to see a bread with such great crust, internal form and texture, slightly sour but savoury tasting - just wonderful. |My only regret is that I couldn’t finish the almond cake at the end (I had ate a lot of the bread at this point). |Travelling alone is one thing but eating alone is a totally different experience. At Cassadonna Reale I was made to feel so welcomed and comfortable, all the waiting staff had a smile, a kind word and a chat. It was lovely, I thank the waiter with the excellent moustache a lot for his recommendation of sights in Napoli to finish my trip. |Thank you all. It was a wonderful experience.

This was an amazing experience from the moment we walked through the door to the moment we left the following day. We were offered a complimentary upgrade to our hotel room, dinner was fantastic and breakfast sensational. Only negative is that you cannot reach by public transport and weather was rainy so could explore the outdoors. Will certainly be coming again.

We came all along from southern Germany to visit this place - and it was worth every mile of travel! Not only the restaurant offers a truly unique dining experience, also the whole structure is a stunning and unique place you should certainly visit, at least if you are into minimalistic stylish design. We had a blast - and being allowed to bring our 2 dogs along made it even more special. THANK YOU!

Wow! Well the place hosts a 3 star Michelin restaurant- so detailed reviews are unnecessary. Everything is perfection:the premises, the rooms (stayed for one night), the staff and obviously the food- the main attraction of course! The room was beautiful, stylish, modern and clean. One of the best places I've stayed at! If you're thinking of going here, just do it!

It is difficult not complimenting everything at Casadonna Reale. The property is situated on a hill in the village of Castel di Sangro and has a wonderful picturesque landscape to admire. I visited Casadonna in fall (last weekend of October 2019) when the trees were brilliant in their hues of red, yellow and amber. The rooms are very comfortable and are well stocked with amenities. The view from my room was like a picture which I wanted to have back in my own home. The service at Casadonna is second to none. Every member of the team makes you feel special and valued. Their attentiveness to service is excellent. A highlight of the stay is the wonderful breakfast. The array of freshly prepared pastries, breads and biscuits makes them impossible to resist. The freshly prepared sweet or savoury treats are another marvel. A simple poached egg is elevated to a level where you won't want to try any other style of poached eggs again. The toast with its thickly sliced brioche, aged Comté cheese and tasty pork is simply delectable.

Amazing experience from the moment we arrived. A little deceiving of an entrance, as you pass through an athletic rec area, but as soon as you arrive you realize the beauty of the Reale. Beautiful rooms with lots of space and a gorgeous view. The restaurant met and exceeded expectations. Chef Niko served an amazing 12 course meal that was simple in concept, yet complex in flavor. The service was outstanding with all of the staff being highly professional. Overall, one of the most enjoyable meals and stays we've ever had!

Stayed at Casadonna coz wisely decided not to drive after the 14 course tasting menu with wine pairings. For once I had to switch to Waze coz Google map sent me to the wrong place up on a hill also with narrow roads with tons of potholes that turned out to be jogging /biking paths. Even though this is in a 16th century monastery, the room was modern with dual hamman showers for couples, the architecture and decor in the public areas were beautiful, it looked like it was straight out of a Wallpaper magazine. I thought my room (room 4) was very basic (ie bedsheets super wrinkled like my room back in college) and didn’t look as chic as in the official photos, really just ok because of the fantastic meal, the view was beautiful though. |Even though I had to leave early and couldn’t stay around for breakfast, the fantastic staff packed me a huge bag of pastries for my morning drive to the next town. In sum, would definitely stay here because of the superb meal at Reale and the drive to get here was lovely too.
