"Hundreds of years ago, at the height of Florence ’s Renaissance heyday, visitors to this cultural capital wouldn’t have stayed in the kinds of luxury hotels that now line its picturesque streets. Rather, the well-heeled would have come at the behest of friends, lodging in private homes whose unassuming facades in the best neighborhoods belied their sumptuous interiors and private gardens, outfitted with art and artifacts collected from around the world. A guesthouse to its core, Casa Howard continues this Florentine tradition; there is neither lobby nor restaurant, and the owner Massimiliano Leonardi di Casalino lives in hisown apartment here while in town (note, it can be rented when he's away). Jennifer Howard Forneris, one of the design-conscious proprietors who has since passed away, was the daughter of renowned textile designer Luciano Forneris. She gave each room its own look, with finds from her and Leonardi di Casalino’s world travels. A media room is the sole common area, and a hammam steam room and an on-site concierge service are the only nods toward traditional hotel services. Insider recommendations are personalized according to guests’ preferences, and the honor bar feels more like a friend’s (well-stocked) fridge."

This hotel has certainly put the boutique into boutique hotels!|Great little hotel of 12 rooms only all very well appointed and individually decorated and styled. Breakfast is good and bought to your room on a tray. There is no common space for sitting around etc|The location is central and close to the railway station. Easy to find and a good base to explore. |The staff very friendly helpful and knowledgeable. Difficult to say whether good value as all hotels in Florence seem expensive compared to other towns but didn’t object to the cost because location is so good. You can spend a great deal more very easily.

I stayed at Casa Howard during my recent trip to Florence and couldn't have been more pleased. This charming boutique hotel feels like a well-kept secret—intimate, elegant, and thoughtfully curated in every detail.||The breakfast was a highlight each morning: fresh, local, and beautifully presented. From flaky pastries to seasonal fruits and quality coffee, everything was delicious and served with care.||The rooms are tastefully decorated, blending classic Florentine charm with bold but beautiful modern pieces. It felt more like a refined private residence than a hotel—a place where every piece of furniture and fabric has been chosen with intention.||The location is unbeatable—just a short walk from Santa Maria Novella station, and close to all the main sights without being in the middle of the crowds. Whether you're in Florence for the first time or returning, Casa Howard makes for a perfect pied-à-terre: elegant, comfortable, and quietly luxurious.||Cristy and Edgar were wonderful hosts.||Highly recommended.

The location of this hotel is fantastic and it has all the set up to be amazing but we were left disappointed especially given the price.||We stayed in the Library room for 2 nights and the mattress we found very comfy and uneven, the pillows really poor and we also had intermittent hot water which made showers pretty difficult. I’d personally say for a luxury priced city hotel those bits are crucial for a hotel to get right. ||On the plus side the staff are really great, friendly and helpful and the breakfast served to your room is a great touch.

Exquisite. Hotel is much more beautiful than the photos suggest. Very spacious, well appointed room. Kristy and Antonio are always available to answer every question. Breakfast is served in the room on first rate china. Conveniently located to all attractions and great restaurants. Overall best European hotel experience in 20+ years. Can't wait to return.

We loved staying at Casa Howard!!! Located just steps a few steps away from Santa Maria Novella and Florence’s the hotel his housed in an historic building, blending classic elegance with quirky, personal touches in every corner which I loved! Each of the 13 rooms is uniquely decorated and super comfortable! The owner Bonifacio is fantastic and extremely professional just like his staff! We had an amazing breakfast in bed on sunday morning with fresh eggs and charcuterie, which was truly delicious! ||My husband and I can’t wait to be back!!!

Charming, chic, like this. A period residence a stone's throw from the station and even less from the piazza of Santa Maria Novella. The welcome is the same as in a five-star hotel. The furnishing details are unique and unrepeatable. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast in bed served in Ginori china. Fragrant croissants, homemade jams. A velvety orange juice. |In short, a structure full of charm where you felt at home. Everything sublime.
