Carney’s is always an iconic stop and never disappoints! I ordered a burger, chili cheese fries, and a hot dog with family since we were in the area—classic staples that were as delicious as ever. The food is consistently great, and the atmosphere is unbeatable. Even though they were doing some work on the location during my visit, it didn’t take away from the charm or the reliability that Carney’s is known for. It’s one of those places you can count on for great food and good vibes every time. Highly recommend for anyone craving classic, feel-good eats!

"FAR SUPERIOR to In n out" Totally recommend the Angus burger, add bacon, grilled onion and 1000 island dressing, and also add the split and grilled hot dog, for the ultimate burger dog experience not available anywhere on the planet. To date this is the best burger in America! ##Nofeardining tucked neatly in some 40's era railroad cars sits a los angeles icon. DO NOT MISS!!

This is one of the best places I’ve ever eaten at. I got a chili cheeseburger, carney dog, and the trainwreck fries which are a replica of In N Out’s animal style fries. Absolutely top tier food! Perfection. Gonna buy a shirt next time I go.

Carney's Hot Dog / chili, mustard, tomato, onion - 5 🌟! Chicagoan / mustard, relish, onions - 5 🌟! I love the Sunset Blvd location for Carney's, and I knew about the Studio City location but had never been before. There is no real reason for that, but I was in the area to take my cat to a vet visit. I decided it was the perfect time to stop by and see what this location was like. It is just as great as their Sunset spot. They seem to have more space to spread out, but like the other location, the main feature is their rail car design, which gives the entire experience a fun visual element. I opted for their patio seating and enjoyed watching the Ventura Blvd travelers going by. I have a standard order for Carney's, a Carney dog for the chili, and a Chicagoan for no chili. I love the thick slices of tomatoes mixed with the chili, and the mustard mixed with relish is amazing on the other. They have a bigger menu that includes sides, hamburgers, and other sandwiches. Great spot with a cool vibe and awesome food.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and have always had wonderful experiences. Today, in celebration of National Hot Dog Day, I decided to visit again and was not disappointed. The hot dogs were fantastic, the place was impeccably clean, and the employees were exceptionally friendly. Highly recommend!

I absolutely love Carney's! I use to come here as a kid, now as an adult I bring my husband and children. The fun part about this place is your dining inside a vintage Southern Pacific railroad coach car. Small outside patio available as an alternative. Fun nostalgic vibes. Menu is simple: Burger, Sandwiches, Hot-Dogs, Fries, Salads, Shakes... but you are here for the Chili! It's mild yet flavorful all-beef chili. Get anything with chili on it is my recommendation. -Parking available in front/side - a private lot. - Cash/Card accepted. -Wheelchair/Stroller accessible (side ramp-on the right side of the train).

This a must have for me whenever I visit LA! This time I struggled with my decision, but I decided to get my usual: chili cheese hotdog with onions and fries! It was good but not as good as I've had in the past. The fries tasted like they had been cooked in old grease, hence the 4 stars! Next time I think I'll try the Red Eye which is a polish sausage without cheese though. My cheese was not melted on my chili cheese dog and that's a pet-peeve of mine! . I'll be back because I love the atmosphere and the service! However, it wouldn't hurt you to change your oil more often!!

"Probably the BEST hot dogs and hamburgers in the world" - certainly the best Carney dogs!!! The dog is superb, the chili is sublime (yes, sublime! Get w/fries)) all the way down to the beefsteak tomato slice on top. Classic train diner decor also. I've been eating these since 1981, and 'Mr.Bill' and crew always serve up the very best!! Tommy's? Pink's?? Don't make me laugh...

We had a great experience here... we were randomly craving hot dogs and searched online and found this. The restaurant is an old train which was so cool. The people working were all so nice and friendly. This is a classic late night bite - hot dogs, burgers and fries. All very tasty. We had the chili and cheese class dog, a New York dog and a Hawaiian dog. They were so fresh and the hot dog itself was delicious! Highly recommend!

Saturday 11am pickup Double chili cheese burger is always a classic at Carneys. Juicy burger with a nice savory chili makes for a perfect bite. Coupled with some sweet potatoe fries, and that's a good meal. They have a parking lot with plenty of seating inside a TRAIN!! Wooden outdoor seating too. Service is always fast. Make sure to get some self-serve hot peppers while you wait. Been coming here since I was a kid. Top notch burger in Studio City.

It's a TRAIN. Love this place, love the vibe. Been here dozens of times. Located on Ventura between Coldwater and Whitsett. Large lot with lots of parking connect to a large lot for Staples and some street parking in front and behind. Great burgers and dogs, chili fires and shakes, chicken sandos and some desserts like shakes, cookies and even frozen bananas. Mmm banana shakes! The staff including the owner and at least one of his sons are amazing, always polite, fast and hardworking. The ladies working are exceptional and always very friendly to me. Can't go wrong when it's a train car! Like the one on Sunset this has outdoor seating but I like this location much better. Burgers are good, anything with their chili but two of my favorites are the Tennessee Dog which has chili, cheese and their spicy house made slaw and the Red Baron which comes topped with shredded purple cooked cabbage. Train wreck fries and the Banana Shake. Good prices for the area. Bowling alley and Staples on either side. It's a must do

Great tasting food on an actual train. Able to buy some chili cheese burgers, hot dogs, and fries. They make shakes as well. I love coming here, especially bring family members who are visiting. Overall a great experience especially for kids. I have always received great customer service from the staff and my order is always correct. This is the reason why I continue on coming back.

It's always a pleasure to eat here when in LA. Good food, friendly service, fun and clean environment. Cant go wrong with burgers and hot dogs, among their other choices. Their beef patties are on the thinner side but still flavorful (get a double!). When dining in, I find it most appealing to get a table away from the ordering counter/kitchen. If it starts to get busy, the line builds around those tables, making the meal seem crowded and uncomfortable. The parking lot can get busy but offers enough space for everyone. Family friendly, budget friendly, life friendly.

This is always a fun place to stop when the kids are with us because they really enjoy the novelty of dining in a railroad car. Also great for out of town guests if you are into chili dogs and hot dogs and yummy stuff like that! Perfect for when you have those types of cravings. They have burgers and salad and that type of stuff available as well but I go for the Carney dog! Prices are reasonable. The wait is moderate. Parking was plentiful. All important things in this part of town. Especially with bigger group.

Yum! 1st time here I couldn't decide on what to get so I got a dbl cheeseburger, small chili cheese fries, train wreck fries, and a hot dog :-p hubby got the Chicagoan hot dog (we split the fries). Wow! I'm a lil piggy! lol I really enjoyed everything I ate! The hot dog (I got plain) was one of the best hot dogs I've ever had! Such great flavor and snap and it was piping hot (which I lie and appreciate). I tried the hot dog with ketchup and then with a lil chili from the fries and both were great! Would absolutely get this again! The cheeseburger was yummy! Glad I got a double instead of a single. Got it with let, tom, grilled onions, mayo and ketchup. Really good! Also put a little chili on the burger and wow! I will get that next time. The chili cheese fries were delicious! Yummy!!! Would definitely get these again too! Train wreck fries were good too but the chili cheese I liked more. Don't know what took me so long to eat here but better late than never! I will be back for sure....just not too soon! This is a meal that is a 3 or so times a year type thing (for me). Not the healthiest but so very good! Line was long but moved pretty good! Service was nice. Train was fun to eat in. Place was clean.

Ah Carney's! A classic Los Angeles place to get a hot dog or a hamburger. We've always had a good time when we've come to this location, although there are some minor issues that are a recurring pattern. The food is always good, although I'm not a huge fan of their chili. The food is also reasonably priced and you always get good portion sizes. So what are the issues? Well first of all (and this is a big one) the line and check out stand are very poorly run. It's not uncommon for them to get your order wrong, and then it's not uncommon for them to give your order to another customer when you're waiting to pick up. I have watched them give my entire order to a customer who ordered after me, and then that customer tells them it's also the wrong order. There's no way around it, This just needs to be organized better. The other issue that we've had is that there's very limited seating inside the restaurant. I understand this means they're a victim of their own success but it would be nice if there was more seating at this location. But again, the food is good and my kids always have fun when we come here because they get to eat inside a train car.

Consistently great quality. Fresh. Local. So grateful to have Carney's in the neighborhood as our go-to post golf range treat.

Yum!!! How fun to eat on a train! My 3.5 year old had such a fun time! The food is delicious and affordable. We got so much food and a giant drink for $30. The chili is amazing and the fries are so crispy. The hotdogs were so flavorful and delicious. It's definitely an experience to be able to eat inside a train. The line is long but it moves pretty quick. The food comes out hot and fast. I can't wait to come back!

You get exactly what you order - great hot dogs, burgers, fries, etc. VERY easy parking, fast friendly service, and when you're feeling in the mood for a chili dog and chili-cheese fries, this is the place to go! Nothing fancy but a cool experience all around.

I was reminded just how yummy this LA iconic stop was when stopping in during the pandemic; we were trying to find a place to escape to. We have so many burger options in LA & many have a place in my heart, but this is one I needed the reminder to not neglect stopping in once in a while because when it comes to burgers & hot dogs, this is a place you can get some of the best. The food reminded me of being a little kid when burgers were the filet mignon of eating out, & fries were my happy place! My burger was fresh & tasty & our hot dogs were exactly how I like them, lightly crispy on the outside & super juicy on the inside. The fries are some of my favorite, long & thin. All of the condiments are fresh & I love the shredded lettuce & hot dog toppings, it's all perfect tasting. The service was amazing, when they're busy with orders, they're so efficient at processing them all & getting their orders ready, I always notice that when waiting for food- such pros! I'm so glad we stopped in when we did, because we've been making a point to go more regularly... & right now in the summer months, it's the perfect spot to take your family- you can sit outside & not worry about making a mess in your kitchen.

First time in. Cool vibe -- lacks good customer service. Staff gave off "careless attitude " Sort of a self discovery path on his to order - location of napkins etc. my LA street dog was ok at best. Worth a stop if you're wanting a dog.

My favorite hod dogs. I get the new yorker, spicey style split in the middle. Staff is great and friendly. Dope vibes being served and eating in a train. Something new, you dont see everyday

An all American food staple. The burger was exactly what you'd expect at a family BBQ. Hot dogs & fries are nothing to write home about. The service is dry, even for a slow Thursday night there was not smiles behind the counter. The atmosphere is very casual, quick wholesome bite that beats a fast food spot any day. Didn't wait much for our meals. A spot to visit in the summer as they have a nice large patio with large picnic tables.

I always lead with "I'm from Chicago" when I rate a hotdog shop, haha. But anyway, we were in the neighborhood and craving a hotdog, so we decided to give Carney's a shot! I was blown away that the shop itself was shaped like a train car, it was super cool inside and they also had a lovely outdoor area. The food was amazing. My boyfriend and I both got Chicago dogs, and even though they weren't exactly what one would consider "Chicago", they still were so perfect. The snap on that hotdog casing was *chefs kiss*! We also tried their train-wreck fries, which is similar to Animal-style at In and Out, however In and Out could learn a thing or two from Carney's because theirs is FAR superior. Overall the service was super fast and everyone was super friendly. I definitely want to come back!

These are some of the best chili dogs I've ever had. They're honestly amazing and perfectly sized. Perfect amount of chili and toppings. The service is great and the owner (not sure if it's still the same man) was super friendly. The menu is simple but contains a good variety of items. The train wreck fries are to die for. The ambiance is interesting, you're sitting inside a train lol! It's cozy but feels a little cramped at times which is fine because have an outdoor patio with ample seating placed on a small perch that gives you a nice view of the sunset strip. If you're looking for chili cheese dogs, this is the spot. You won't be disappointed!

2.5 stars rounded up because it seems to be a family business. The decor is worth a detour but don't expect a fun crowd or anything beyond the architectural novelty. A white couple with matching resting-b*tch faces were sitting outside and very obviously and rudely gawking at me as I made my way in and came back out - maybe they have never seen a non-white person here before? The pigeons nearby were friendlier, meanwhile the normal folks inside (while also noticeably all white and not being stared at by the outside couple) just kept to themselves as one would more so expect. Clientele aside, the staff were ok but not particularly engaging, enthusiastic or knowledgeable about the history surrounding them. At best I would guess the place is no longer what it once was or at one point hoped to be. A good menu with ample offerings though the taste was nothing beyond ordinary. Affordable pricing for decent, predictable food and drink.

Not too bad not too great, good spot to grub at. Not sure how late they are open as I didnt see the hours but this would hit just right for a late night munch attack. Train wreck fries were good but exactly the same as in n outs. Except for the fries, obviously, which gave the whole thing a different taste. The burger was just ok, personally im not a fan of the big tomato slice. Theres more that I'd like to try so im sure id be back

We had the cheeseburger and train wreck fries very delicious really satisfying the lemonade is good too. The service is good they are very fast. The ambiance is very family oriented and they have a good amount of seating indoor and outdoor.

Carney's has been a longtime favorite place of mine! I love being able to share the fun experience of coming here with my kids. You can sit inside of the train, where they have tables & chairs, or outside on the deck at wooden picnic tables. They have a few high chairs available for babies as well. Their menu offers lots of choices including burgers, a variety of hotdogs, fries/chili fries/the best sweet potato fries ever, wraps, shakes, and fountain drinks. Their lemonade is also really good! There is almost always a line, but it moves quickly! Ordering is easy and then you wait for your food and take it back to your table. Definitely a fun place to take kids, or go if you're craving a chili dog!

SOOOOOO GOOOODDDD!! i got a burger and sweet potato fries and it was absolutely delicious. they didn't miss a beat. the ambiance is SO COOL!! you're literally eating inside of a vehicle it's kind of crazy

First time here! The service here is okay, it's kind of like a no-nonsense, "just tell me what you want" type of interaction. We didn't know when our order was up because they didn't call it out even though they asked for our names, so we had to ask if any of the food belonged to us. But the quality of the food was great. It was fresh and classic! I had the double cheeseburger with fries and my boyfriend has the chicagoan dog & fries. The fries come unsalted so we grabbed some packets to add the desired amount. Our first bites were perfect. The hotdog had the perfect snap that you look for when you bite into a hotdog. The bread for our burgers were soft, not mushy. Everything was just fresh ingredients & freshly made! Loved that they had outdoor seating for us and my dog. Haven't had their shakes but we'll definitely be back to try more of their menu!

Last time I ate here was before the pandemic. It's great to see how everything looks exactly as it did the last time I came in January 2020 for the first time. It used to be an old subway car. There's even sepia colored pictures on the wall that illustrate the history of this subway car. Pretty popular for lunch. I remember my first time here it was packed. The people behind the counter are friendly never rude. I ordered the Red Eye Chicagoan with regular mustard, small fries, and a Pepsi. The fries tasted like McDonald's fries but less salty. The polish sausage was not too spicy exactly like what the menu said. 10/10. I'm positive this place is great for late night eats too. Next time I'll try to come at night and see if it gets as packed as it does for lunch.

Tried, to try, the burger place in the cute little courtyard at the Sportsman's Lodge. Got attitude from the staff; thinking on my hungry feet, I remembered what a good burger I had earlier in the week on Sunset I quickly decided to head to Carney's to appease my hunger. It was everything you expect from a good, traditional, classic. Perfect burger, great fries, with friendly service.

My local favorite! Staff is always welcoming, food is consistently good. Restaurant is always clean and the prices are great! Will always be a favorite spot of mine!

This place has a pretty decent tasting food. Very homemade and with a nostalgic feel to it. However, it's biggest seller is the experience. Eating inside a train seem like a cool experience to have, Atleast once.

It was my first time here and I enjoyed it so much. I only know a couple of places that serve chili prior to coming here. I ordered a cheeseburger and I liked it very much! The burger was delicious and the chili was so good. The staff was great and the casual environment was enjoyable. The line can get long at peak hours. I will definitely be back.

Had the Carney dog with cheese. It was ok, but a bit salty and dry. I've had better chili cheese dogs that were not this expensive.

Taste terrible omg . Cool spot and a fun hang but we're tossing this . Maybe the burger and the chilli cheese fries were the wrong menu item to order. canned chilli wh the slice of cheese stuck in the middle unmelted isn't it . yuck.

Leaving this review as a warning to anyone who values good customer service. This is not your place. The man taking the order is very rude and dismissive. Today was my second time here and both times I have been left with a bad taste in my mouth because of the lack of customer service. The ambiance is very nice being that its inside an old train but the customer service ruins that. The food is not bad but the bad attitudes make it non-enjoyable. I feel the food is slightly over priced as this is a strictly self serve experience. No refills, get your own napkins, heaven forbid you ask for utensils you will get the look of death. Once you place your order you never know if or when your food is coming out. It's disappointing because is a prime location but what a shame that bad customer service can ruin such a promising business. The environment is so unwelcoming. WHAT A SHAME!

So I heard about this place thru my oldest son who said he used to go here all the time and hasn't been back since joining the military, he is currently stationed in N.C. so we both flew into California for my youngest son and his brother's graduation so we all decided to go check this place out. When you get here its really cool looking, its a train caboose. The menu is really cool and the food is delicious. I had a Red Eye Carneys Original with Train Wreck Fries. The hot dog was VERY delicious but being from Detroit you really can't beat any Coney Dog in Detroit or Michigan for that matter but it really was delicious. The jalapeños, onions, and sauce was very good and the fries were amazing, it had 1000 Island dressing, cheese, grilled onions and meat. Definitely worth the visit.

The service here was terrible, very get to the point type of place. We ordered a turkey dog with cheese and the cheese was not melted and thrown top of the condiments. Their ketchup dispenser was not dispensing anything so we asked for ketchup and the lady looked at us like we were stupid and said it's right there we said we know but it's empty but she insisted we try harder. Finally someone gave us some ketchup but in a rude manor like we were bothering them. This was my first time here and I was truly disappointed! There was absolutely nothing special about this place!

At Carney's I had a New Yorker Hot dog with spicy mustard. My close friend and colleague had a Carney's hot dog and his assistant had one as well. My New Yorker dog was good I really liked the sauerkraut, it was packed and they gave me a fork to pick off the small heap off the top of the hot dog. Their hot dogs looked great it had giant heirloom tomato slices and it was topped with chili and its condiments. The only thing that could have made the hot dogs get a better score was if the dogs came out steaming. The service was fast and we got plenty of help in terms of utensils and napkins from the counter. All in all I liked Carney's I am fond of trains and it was a hot sunny afternoon for hot dogs in Studio City. It was nice to catch up with a friend in a train setting with big window pains.

WOW, what a dog!! I had a turkey dog, split and grilled with mustard and relish, and a side of cheese fries. All the years of living in Los Angeles, and I finally try it - so worth the wait!!

Been a Carney's patron for years, but gave it up when I switched my diet. Well tagged along with some out of town friends today. To my surprise, "The Hungry Planet Burger" is on the menu. Thank you very much Carney's!

Great ambiance and staff working there. I know it's famous for their dogs, but I love me a chili cheese burger with chili cheese fries -which feels like a more refined version of Tommy's. Also, their pasta salad is a hidden gem.

I LOOOOOOOVE CARNEYS!!!! Everything about it The sweet potato fries are a must. I've ordered basically everything on the menu, it's a regular place for us. Everything is amazing for that "make me feel good" food. The price is right, the staff is great, and we LOVE the owner. So hard working, super friendly and always remembers us .. which is a huge plus in my eyes. Not to mention, the fact it's in a train?! We always eat outside because there's so much to see on Sunset, but it's such a cute indoor space. Must go!
