Should have given greater weight to the reviews re noise. We chose this hotel instead of staying in the V&A Waterfront area as our Travel Agent said this was a cosmopolitan area whereas V&A was touristy. Yes there are a lot of bars and restaurants within reasonable walking distance but there is no way we would consider walking at night (fortunately Uber is cheap), it didn't even give a great vibe during the day....the area was quite dingy. Yes its a nice old property, the room was a decent size and the bathroom modern enough, but the noise during the night even in our 'Luxury Room' was unbearable. The fact the staff mention at checkin there are earplugs was a sign of things to come..., I regret noting bringing my noise cancelling headphones as the earplugs were useless against the constant car hooning outside during each night. There is also nightclub noise but this was minor compared to the cars. I acknowledge there is nothing the staff can do about this and the police would have bigger issues to deal with in Cape Town rather than worry about burn outs etc. This was the last stop during our 3 week holiday and the lack of sleep almost spoilt the whole trip. Having going to the V&A for sundowners and dinner on our last night its clear we should have stayed in that area, it would be quieter and safer.||No issues with the staff, cleanliness of the property and breakfast but if you can't get a good nights sleep the positives are irrelevant. Interestingly when leaving our driver asked why we would stay at that hotel for the exact reasons we mentioned. To summarise its a decent property in the wrong place...we are unable to recommend.
