"Turkish Treasures from Bygone Eras Immerse yourself in clothes, shoes, bags, costumes, and accessories of bygone eras at By Retro in Suriye Passage, off Istiklal Street. This expansive basement shop is a wondrous labyrinth of vintage and retro treasures that feels more like a big kid's dress-up box than a thrift shop. Take a trip back in time here—it will surely captivate vintage and retro fashion lovers for hours."

Stepping into By Retro feels like entering a secret underground fashion time capsule. Rows of vintage treasures, old costumes, and second-hand gems—it's impossible to leave empty-handed. Warning: you’ll need a full day to explore it all (and probably still come back for more)!

An absolute gem! Definitely worth visiting/exploring! Had a chance to visit the store last year, purchased a wonderful vintage jacket and a few skirts. Loving it! ❤️

The best shop in Istanbul! The worker is so kind and she helped me a lot to find the perfect piece. This place is not just a thrift shop it’s also a museum. Thanks to Lili for helping us to explore this amazing place.

It was 10 pm and I was jet-lagged. The store workers were hanging out and playing instruments with friends in the back of the store. One room had wedding dresses and petticoats hanging overhead. The store was a magical rabbit hole and I was Alice in wonderland in Istanbul!

This is one of the best retro/vintage stores in Istanbul. Lots of Turkish movies and series take their dressing customs from here. My daughter likes this shop very much and tries to visit it every time she comes to Istanbul.

Super cool vintage store with a million items to choose from. Legit vintage too, not “new” vintage

A nice selection of almost everything you could be looking for in a retro way. Huge selection of neckties that felt like digging for treasure… a bit smelly, though, because of the basement location, but be sure to drop by if you’re in the area.

I found a nice jacket, but didn't buy it because it was 1500 TL and it even had stains (=75 euro at the moment). They have nice stuff, but it is really expensive for secondhand stuff.

By far the most impressive vintage store I've ever seen. You need a week to sift through all the merchandise. I saw gowns, a couch piled high with leather outerwear, sections full of skates and TV's, shelves of sunglasses, leather briefcases and clutches. And don't forget to look up, for the bars above housed off-season items like fur coats, more dresses, blazers, you name it. They also have a section of costumes for rent only.
