Chicken at Bonjardim Travessa de Santo Antão 11: Lisbon is famous for its roasted chicken and this place, too, came highly recommended by friends. The chicken was extraordinary. The service less so. As with other touristic places in the dead center of town, Bonjardim loads your table with croquettes, cheese, bread, butter, and other things you didn’t order. You are then charged for what you consume. We were already warned of this practice, which added €10 to our bill. Fine. When I pointed out they had overcharged us for these items, based on the prices listed on their own menu, they got very loud and indignant. One server was particularly abusive. I handled the situation like a lady almost had to fight the guy. Avoid this trap.

It doesn't get better in roasted chicken than this. The chicken was seasoned to perfection, very tender and very tasty. The sides were excellent. The food arrived super quickly, staff gave great recommendations and were very friendly. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving some great roasted chicken

Great location, Very clean, Great service. The food ,I would say the chickens are normal, I did not find the uniqueness on it, yet it was very tasty and half chicken will make you super full if you eat appetizer with it. Regular price range,

I'm very peaky when it comes to chicken and let me tell you, the chicken from this place didn't disappoint! The spices were just what they should be. The chicken was juicy, tender, and delicious. The chicken breast was one of the juiciest I've ever had while its skin was still crispy. So so yummy! This foo might become my reason to visit Lisbon again!

Lisbon, Portugal Firstly, I would like to comment the staff who serve us throughout the meal - Luciano. I hope I got his name correct. I am told he has worked here for 43 years. He is a cool guy, not much smile but attentive. Ambience [4]. A classic feel of the restaurant and can be noisy when the restaurant is packed. Space is limited indoor but there is outdoor seating. Food [5] We enjoyed all the food that we ordered. The roasted Piri Piri chicken tasted so good and go well with the Brazil rice and the Chicken Broth soup. The pork is delicious as well. Thin cut fries filled up our tummy. The cream spinach was great too. I would like to recommend anyone who is visiting Lisbon to dine here. Usually will be packed during lunch or dinner hours. We are lucky to have late lunch so a table is available when we step in.

Very accommodating for our group of 6. Moved tables around to help us fit, we came a bit late and were the last ones there yet they didn’t rush us, just quietly went about their closing duties and allowed us to finish enjoying our meals. Very kind waiters, and great at recommending dishes. The food was really good. I liked the soup and the peri peri chicken was very tasty as well, a bit on the salty side though (which personally I do like). Would like to try this place again!

Since it was highly praised, I wanted to try it so that I wouldn't break the rule. First, we waited in line for about half an hour and were able to find a table outside. We ordered chicken soup first and then ordered the famous chicken dishes. The service was very slow, I think that's why we waited in line. The soup was not bad, there were chicken pieces and rice in it. But some of the rice was hard. The chicken was nicely fried on the outside, but the inside could have been cooked a little more. The rice grains in the chicken liver rice we got were hard. The price was reasonable, but I don't think I would want to come again.

I’ve been wanting to try authentic Portuguese rotisserie chicken ever since I first had piri piri chicken, and I feel lucky to have experienced it at Bonjardim. Everything here deserves 5 stars – the food, the service, and the staff. I ordered the chicken with rice, and while simple, it was roasted to absolute perfection – so tasty! The rice pudding was a great complement to the meal. The staff were professional, polite, fun, and super quick. Loved the vibe of this place! Definitely recommend if you’re in Lisbon and craving some delicious chicken.

Sangria was very good! Fried was tasty but a little hard. Rice was nicely seasoned and was fluffy - good on its own. Chicken was not as tender as I would like. Just tasted like an ordinary roasted chicken. Sitting outside is relatively annoying as there’s beggars/sellers attempting to sell you things and asking for donation. The staffs tried their best to shoo them away though.
