Bar Pitti is a cozy Greenwich Village Italian joint, famed for its sidewalk patio, solid pastas, and a crowd that includes both locals and celebrities.
"Bar Pitti is a constant scene, and it's not necessarily due to the food being great. (Though some things, like the warm bowl of tuna and beans, are fairly delicious.) It’s the definition of an endearingly imperfect NYC classic, and it has the wait times to prove it. The all-yellow restaurant is over 30 years old, and it’s not going to change its ways any time soon (or ever). Come for people watching on their sidewalk patio, bring cash, and expect the sort of blunt service that makes you feel like you did something slightly wrong. At best, you’ll see an A-lister, and at worst you’ll make friends with a kid in a soccer uniform who has a regular order here." - willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah, neha talreja, arden shore
"Are you wearing boat shoes? Do you have a list of the best restaurants in several European beach destinations? If so, Bar Pitti is probably in your regular rotation. This restaurant definitely attracts a scene, but we’re here to tell you it’s also a great place to stop in for a dinner when you’re wandering around the West Village or Greenwich Village, unsure of where to go. There’s an unusually large sidewalk seating area, the pastas are always great, and it’s actually not absurdly expensive." - katherine lewin, hillary reinsberg
"On a nice day, it can feel like the whole neighborhood has descended on the huge outdoor patio at Bar Pitti. But it’s really not as bad as it looks. Bar Pitti turns over tables like clockwork, so there's never that long of a wait. Bring cash and order one of the chalkboard specials. " - matt tervooren, neha talreja
"The sidewalk patio at this Italian restaurant in Greenwich Village provides a high-profile habitat for tourists, A-listers, and kids in soccer uniforms. Most seats are saved for walk-ins, so pop in for an impromptu meal when you feel the itch to immerse yourself in a fascinating grab bag of a scene. You might have to wait in a line for 40 minutes, but the people-watching is unparalleled, and the springy taglierini al tartufo is guaranteed to grow on you." - neha talreja, bryan kim, nikko duren, molly fitzpatrick
"The walk-in-only Bar Pitti will never not be trendy. Its spacious patio on the border of Greenwich Village and the West Village ensures this, as does the unpretentious Italian food that’s slightly better than it needs to be. If you want to eat springy, housemade black truffle pasta at a sidewalk table where you might have a view of Rihanna, there’s no better choice. OK, you probably won’t see Rihanna, but you shouldn’t have to wait more than half an hour to get in, and you might run into some people you used to date." - bryan kim, neha talreja, kenny yang, willa moore, will hartman
