Bourdain had: chivito sandwiches with steak, ham, bacon, cheese, hard boiled egg, mayo, and garnishes (“unofficially Uruguay’s national sandwich”), and beer.
Lunch date: Ignacio “Nacho” Mattos, head chef and owner of Estela, Café Altro Paradiso, and Flora Bar.

"A Carrasco bar famed for serving the chivito, the country’s unofficial national sandwich: a towering combination of steak, ham, bacon, cheese, hard‑boiled egg, mayonnaise and assorted garnishes — a creation Anthony Bourdain dubbed a “terror‑inspiring heap of protein.”" - Chris Fuhrmeister
Original chivito experience. Locals took us there as the best chivito place and it didn't disappoint. Great food, nice atmosphere normal prices in a great neighborhood.

Our favorite chivito we had while visiting Uruguay! Definitely a must visit.

Although we ate a great chivito with fried sweet potatoes and onion rings, the service was not good. We asked the waiter for knives and forks to eat the chivito but unluckily we had to use our hands!

The glass they offered me was dirty and smelled like mold. Also? I accidentally went to Men’s room and saw the cook use the bathroom and walk out without washing his hands. HE DID NOT WASH HIS HANDS AFTER USING BATHROOM.
Ewwwww
Despite wanting to vomit, I didn’t want to cause a scene for the group and ate the food. It wasn’t bad. But I really question the hygiene at this restaurant.

Delicious sandwich! I will say the prices on the menu look like they have gone up from many I saw online. But overall affordable for the portion size you are receiving. Came after I read this spot was the home of Anthony Bourdain’s favorite sandwich. Did not disappoint!

I do recommend coming here hungry, as the chivito sizes are rather generous. We came here at lunch, and even though they were busy, the service was very fast.

The server bluntly lied about Patricia producing gluten free beer only 😂😂😂😂
Gramajo and Chivitos still make up for the terrible service

The best chivito I have had so far in Uruguay. The chivito Arocena is large with quality meats and fresh toppings. Our order was ready very quickly. I definitely recommend a visit!
