AVITUS Wine Bar

Great atmosphere and great service. We stumbled at this wine bar looking for another place, but glad we went inside. Small cozy spot that nice and quiet to end the night with a glass of wine. The server explained the wines by glass to us and gave us a few options. Because we got there late, the kitchen was closed but they had desserts available. We got the chocolate fondant (lava cake) and it was delicious.

A perfect French paradise in Calgary! Fantastic wine selection with knowledgeable and friendly staff. They will help you choose a wine based on your preferences and price point and suggest food pairings. The food selections are excellent with imported cheeses and house made spreads.

Friendly staff, awesome wine, great patio (with blankets, cushions and heat lamp) and the charcuterie options were divine. I would happily visit again!

What an absolute gem. Nestled in Marda Loop this wine bar is a fantastic place to spend a long afternoon or evening enjoying the atmosphere together with good wine and good company. The owner Yann is as French as anyone this side of the Seine, with a big French accent that is matched by his knowledge of French wine. There are some food options, of course led by the house cheese board in keeping with the French theme, complete with truffle honey and cheese from a Swiss monastery, simply outstanding. There are also some warm shareable options that will accompany your choice of fine wine. Definitely worth a visit.

Amazing, French bistro style wine bar!! We were here for a small event and were absolutely blown away. Amazing service but also FANTASTIC wines. Can't wait to go again !!

Girlfriends and I came across this place by chance while waiting for our supper reservation. It was amazing. I don’t normally do reviews, but this place deserves it. Building your own charcuterie board is brilliant. No more settling for things you don’t actually care for. We got exactly what we loved and it was perfect. And that honey truffle spread was delicious. Then to have a wine savvy server pair us with a wine to go with the specific items we selected was a great experience. We all agreed we’d come back to this place!

We had such a wonderful experience at AVITUS. It really felt like a Wayne bar experience you would have in France. All of the servers were French, and made the whole experience feel very genuine. It was very busy at 6pm on a Friday but we were able to get a table outside. They have pillows and blankets on the chairs, as well as a heater outside. It was so cozy. Ahh, the wine. We did not receive a menu, instead, you talked to your server and told them the type of wine that you liked and what what you were looking for and they would give you some options. It was such a cool experience. The food is a build your own charcuterie menu, with meats, cheeses, spreads and pickled vegetables. It was so nice to be able to pick exactly what you wanted in flavors and in size too. We had such a wonderful experience here and will be back again for sure.

Awesome vibe. Idea being that we tell them what kind of wine you like and they select from their open bottles. Super fun concept and good snacky food too

Delicious food and wine, knowledgeable servers, great ambience out in the patio in the evening. :) We really enjoyed all the recommendations from servers and the food itself was top notch. What a great addition to the Marda Loop community.

The food and wine were good. Our server, "F", basically ignored us though. After taking our wine order it was virtually impossible to get his attention. We waited 25 minutes from receiving our drink before he took our food order, and we had to catch his attention for that. Then nothing. He didn't ask if our food was okay, didn't ask if we needed anything else, no offer of more wine, nothing. The menu said that all bread orders come with butter. We had to specially request the butter, again after working to get his attention, which he then told us we really didn't need. We also had to remind him to bring out the rest of our meal, which he had forgotten. He was completely indifferent, no token apology, nothing. And because of where we were seated, he had to walk past us to every other table, yet he still managed to forget we were there. We requested a new server, but by then we were almost finished our meal. I've been to France. The servers there are the best in the world. "F" was the worst. He really soured our experience. Would not go back.

Way too expensive for what this place has to offer. Maybe they are trying to cater only to a certain demographic. Great staff and service
