Art and Culture in Atlanta

"One of the goals of the Atlanta Beltline, a rails-to-trails greenway that will eventually encircle the entire city, has been to incorporate public art into the trail experience. As you cruise down the Beltline Eastside and Westside Trails, you’ll encounter sculpture, murals, and photography in addition to performance art, such as dance and music. You’ll also find photography displays that tell the story of Atlanta and the Civil Rights Movement." - MATADOR_NETWORK

"A perfect example of urban renewal, the Atlanta BeltLine is a running and biking trail built on an old railway track. Its ever-popular Eastside Trail runs from Reynoldstown to Piedmont Park but is currently being expanded to the south and north and will offer greater access to public parks. Along the existing trail, you’ll find public artworks and a number of shops and restaurants. In the fall, the path hosts the popular Lantern Parade."

The Atlanta BeltLine is hands down the most successful urban project I’ve seen anywhere in the world—and I’ve traveled extensively across North America, Europe, and Asia. It’s a brilliant example of how a city can reclaim space to connect communities, promote sustainability, and spark creativity. From public art and local markets to vibrant trails filled with people from all walks of life, the BeltLine pulses with energy and inclusivity. It’s more than a trail—it’s a living, breathing showcase of what urban revitalization should look like. Every city should be studying what Atlanta has accomplished here. The BeltLine is truly world-class.

The beltline is amazing. However, please do something about the bike, scooter, skateboard riders. They need their own lane for riding traffic only. It is very dangerous for pedestrians and riders.

Nice 7 lane expressway, however, it always seems to be a delay or bumper to bumper traffic. 😔 I keep wondering why the GPS guides us this way each time even though I know there are back roads and Business highways around this. WEEKENDS OR WEEK DAYS, ITS ALL THE SAME

Google
I love the belt line and what it has done for the city. But the East Side stretch from Piedmont Park to Irwin is far far too dangerously crowded. Walkers make up about 75-90% of the traffic on the belt line whenever I am out there riding. Most walking groups often walk more than half the path wide, are oblivious to bikers and how they are blocking the path. It is impossible for bikers to ride their bikes safely among the crowds. There very clearly needs to be separation of walking paths and bike-only paths. For public safety. It's a very serious problem and has only been escalating since the path opened. Please get more signs out there that alert walkers to be aware of all their surroundings, to only walk 2 people wide, to allow for bikers to pass them within their right lane. And PLEASE do something about this before someone gets seriously hurt. Not only is it not safe, but it also take all the fun out of being outdoors riding your bike. I'm 100% certain I am not the only person of this opinion. It was chaos out there yesterday. Saturday Mar 4.
