"Wired Hotel calls itself a “local community hotel” which houses a café and bar called Zakbaran. Ever since Wired opened its doors back in 2017 in the tourist-free Asakusa neighborhood, locals have been making it their go-to spot to work and enjoy a cup of coffee. Its interior features hipster-inspired furnishings that appear to be purchased from a Brooklyn vintage store due to the hotel being branded by Portland-based OMFGCO – the same creative agency known for the mega-successful Ace Hotel chain."

"How did it strike you on arrival?Talk about a hotel that knows how to work its angles. Nearly every nook and cranny has been locally crafted, from parquet flooring to its geometric-patterned textiles and tiled backsplashes. No surface feels anything less than well-considered—and considering that Wired Hotel was branded by OMGFCO, the same agency behind Ace Hotel Portland (and a handful more), it all shines with a designer touch. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Young, hip, and in-the-know. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. While the penthouse may be the most stylish in Tokyo, any of the premium rooms all bring their own level of finesse. Take Room 605, for example: neat, wide, and angular, with hand-painted wall art, wood-lined ceilings, an enclosed bath with a deep soaking tub (plus yukata robes, naturally), and an almost-unheard-of private terrace measuring more than 180 square feet. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?Each and every room has a Duxiana mattress (you know, one of priciest mattresses money can buy), while even in the least indulgent category—dormitory-style bunk beds—gets a Duxiana-brand bed pad. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?Considering that sweating the small stuff is pretty much OMGFCO’s specialty, expect to be amused. Each guest receives a complimentary drink ticket (grab a matcha latte on the house) while hairdryers are even tucked into linen bags embossed with artwork from a local brand. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Strong, free Wi-Fi. Room service: Worth it?Head out of the room for grub at Zakabaran, a stylish restaurant cafe on the ground floor. The menus are all seasonal; evening meals are all designed to pair with the wooden bar’s hefty list of rare Japanese sake (your complimentary drink ticket will work for a cup). The space is certainly too stylish for a stodgy breakfast buffet, so it serves plated Japanese dishes (salmon is among the most popular) with a twist (tofu donuts, for starters). Staff: If you could award one a trophy, who gets it, and why?Who wouldn't want a free tour of the neighborhood? A few days each week, a staff member takes guests on hour-long tours throughout Asakusa, and their recommendations along the way (from restaurants to independent boutiques) deserve a medal. Bottom line: worth it, and why?In a city full of fancy hotels in the sky, this hotel keeps luxury on the down-low, embedding itself with local style and culture from its hand-crafted interiors to its pour-over matcha lattes." - Keith Flanagan

We had a wonderful experience at this hotel in Asakusa. Although the hotel isn’t brand new, our room was on a high floor with large windows, two directions of fresh air, and a fantastic view over the city. The room itself was surprisingly spacious — much bigger than we expected for Tokyo. What truly stood out was the kindness and helpfulness of the staff. When our travel plans changed unexpectedly, they graciously agreed to store our luggage for over a week, which was a huge help. Highly recommended for both the location and the warm hospitality!

If I could give 10 out of 5 I would. The location was perfect for our trip. Sensoji and the surrounding area at night and in the early morning hours are so magical. We used this hotel as our base for exploring Tokyo and couldn’t be happier. The room was stylish, housekeeping everyday was excellent and most importantly the service of the front desk people were above and beyond. I left my iPad by mistake and they let me know quickly while I was on my bullet train to Hiroshima. I requested them to open my luggage and put it inside the luggage that I left for delivery to my Kyoto hotel and they not only took care of it , they even sealed the zipper so that it did not get opened while in transit. I will definitely be staying there in future and highly recommend this hotel for all travelers. The front desk spoke fluent English as well.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Asakusa Kokono Club Hotel. We stayed in the Suite with Skytree View and definitely enjoyed the room. It was very spacious and clean and with great large windows for tons of light. There is a large bathroom with a soaking tub and separate shower. Views of the sky tree are from the bathroom window by the soaking tub. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is close to Senso-ji Temple and also coffee shops in the area (I’d recommend Fuglen Asakusa). There’s also a small sushi shop around the corner that we enjoyed as well (Oshiyama). It isn’t too far from transit although I did take the taxi for convenience for when we had to transport luggage.

18 times in Japan and this was the most horrible hotel/ experience in Japan ever.|I needed to cancel a booking. The Non Japanese coworker said no problem, but I need a confirmation mail of booking.com and then you can cancel for free. I did that, called back and then the weird stuff happened. She said booking.com will send her an email in 3 days. I said no they just sent it, I had them on the phone just now, I did what you asked me to do. Then she said mails can take up 3 days till she receives it. I said well they already just sent it so you should have it by now. At that moment she started to scream! What do you want! I said actually IWHAT do you want?! If you could refresWHAT DO you want! 3 times in a row. My heart was in my throat, my hands were shacking! Never in my entire life have I experienced someone like that and it was bizar that this happened at a Japanese hotel! She kept interupting me, she kept lying, she said many times you hang up the phone or I will, then she didnt talk at all for a minute and you could hear her breathing. It was so scary, this person is not in her right mind. There something really wrong with her, That non Japanese lady shouldnt work there! If you are from another Asian country and you work in Japan then have the Japanese hospitality. I said is there anybody else who can help me? She said NO I am the manager of Kokono club so you are not allowed to talk to anynody else. I own this hotel. I dont believe she was the manager. And if she went crazy with me, then I cant be the only one with a bad experience. I lost a lot of money because of her, while the cancellation was free!!

We stayed here for one night and it was perfect, a great location to visit the Asakusa sights. A lovely hotel, beautifully designed and friendly staff, a great base for exploring this part of Tokyo. The only slight drawback was the breakfast service which was slow, but this was being served by only one gentleman so he was extremely busy meaning the food came out slow. The management should help this guy and give him an extra pair of hands!! The breakfast was lovely by the way. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

We had the most incredible stay at Kokono club- the location was perfect- right next to senso-ji temple and shopping. Family mart and lovely coffee shop right downstairs. Everyone at the front desk was so friendly, we enjoyed the balcony in the morning. Beds were extremely comfortable, toiletries were high quality. It’s a great boutique hotel, relaxing with a modern aesthetic. We were sad to leave!

Pros. Great location Cons. Miserable staff, no facilities, uncomfortable furniture, curtains don’t meet in the middle and there are neon signs outside so we couldn’t sleep, they didn’t make up room, towels are size and thickness of a T towel, bathroom it the quality of a caravan bathroom, the shower position is to spray directly into your face, only one pillow, waaaaaay overpriced. Don’t make the mistake we did.

I'm back to write this review three weeks after our visit, as I felt the place deserved one. The room was beautiful and well apointed, they had allowed us to forward our luggage on from Osaka and it was in our room waiting when we arrived. The area was probably our favorite in Tokyo, though we were only there a couple of nights. There are bars and resturants all around and at night the number of tourists drops drastically. The staff here were polite, kind and thoughtful throughout our visit. The only negative is the misleading photographs of rooms with balconies and views of the tower - we did think we were getting such a room after the booking process. That said the room was one of the bigger ones we saw on our trip, comfortable and clean. Recomended, but book if for the location and staff and not the view.
