A warm, unpretentious Italian meal in a space that feels more like someone’s home than a restaurant.
I ordered the carbonara, served with rigatoni rather than spaghetti, and it was refreshingly different from the usual creamy versions. The sauce was egg-based, glossy and restrained, with black pepper and cured pork clearly present. The pasta was firmly al dente, closer to how carbonara is prepared in Rome rather than the cream-heavy adaptations often found elsewhere. It may surprise some diners, but it feels honest and confident.
My dining companion ordered a tomato-based spaghetti, which was generous and comforting, though more in the classic Italian or Italian-American style than Roman.
The chicken pâté was excellent and extremely generous in portion, rich and rustic, and served with very good grilled bread. The quantity was ample enough that we had to take some home. The bread service overall was simple and well done.
The atmosphere is one of the restaurant’s strengths. With its painted plates and relaxed setting, it feels more like a dining room than a formal Italian restaurant — comfortable, sincere, and quietly assured.
A place that focuses on substance over show, with cooking that respects tradition rather than trying to impress.
