What a great time our small group had. Abigail and her staff do a great job, and when I had a little (big) snafu with timing, they did their best to accommodate us. Thank you! We selected a Thai menu and it was perfect. My favorite aspect was the very practical information Abigail provided. So many tidbits of very useful information. I definitely recommend for any group for a fun evening out.

Absolutely one of the BEST experiences of our lives! Dinner in the dark is an immersion in the tastes, sounds, smells and textures of an amazing meal. Every delightful mouthful left us excited with anticipation for the next . The atmosphere is joyful and energetic with impeccable service. We will definitely be back!

We did the pasta making class with Abigail and had an incredible time! The food was delicious and Abigail is a phenomenal chef and teacher! Highly recommend!!

Google
What an unforgettable experience at Abigail's Kitchen! We celebrated my wife's birthday with a blindfolded dining adventure and it was simply delightful. The food was tasty, living up to our expectations. The swift service made the experience seamless, with minimal waiting time between courses. While we wished for a tad more generosity in the wine pours, the overall experience is something we highly recommend for anyone seeking a unique culinary adventure. A must-try at least once – you won't regret it! 🍽️🎉🍷

Abigail and her team provided a fun, educational, and delicious meal & experience for me and 10 colleagues from my company. The best team-building evening we’ve ever had! Highly recommend Abigail’s for whatever unique culinary experience you and your significant other or group want to create!

I attended a cocktail class last night at Abigail Kitchen taught by Svetlana. Really fun, entertaining and (surprisingly) educational event. Svetlana taught how to make 3 unique cocktails, and the 4th bonus one. She used authentic flavor combos and cool equipment. You can tell she really knows her way around spirits and has a smooth way of teaching it. Also, delicious hors d'oeuvres helped from getting too drunk too quickly. I made a few new friends, laughed a ton, and definitely got a nice buzz! Highly recommend this class!

We came for"Dinner in the Dark" and loved the entire experience. You are blindfolded during the entire meal and experience. It really heightens your other senses and you connection with the people you are with becomes more more intimate and enjoyable. No technology! The owner is a true chef, the food is local and what's fresh that day. Loved the entire experience. Highly recommend.

Excellent dinner in the dark. Really heightened all of the other senses. Very nice people that made it extremely relaxing, enjoyable, and entertaining. Food was excellent and I tried my best to get snaps of all the dishes.

Yelp
My boyfriend surprised me with a "Dinner in the Dark" experience hosted by Chef Abigail. SO good. I won't spoil it for you, but I can vouch that the experience is absolutely worth it and so much fun!! I was surprisingly nervous (I'm not sure why - I guess it's rare to not know see what I'm eating?), but the staff is awesome and helps guide you through the experience (literally - they guide you to the table or to the bathroom hallway to make sure there's no reveal of the space 'til the very end). The food itself was delicious, and I'd recommend to anyone to try!

Yelp
Went to a Sushi making cooking class with my husband. There were 4 other people in the class. Abigail ran the class. You walk downstairs from the restaurant into a cute room set up with two large tables. We used one of the tables which was set up with most of what we would use. We learned to roll 4 types of rolls- she had tuna, salmon, crab, shiitake mushrooms, avocado, Tobiko, trout roe, scallions, cucumbers- an errant of sesame seasoning, the best white fiber I have ever had and enough sushi rice to feed an army! It was informative, fun, and included wine or beer (win). It was a great date and we even got to take home some of our sushi creations! Each group (everyone was in pairs) had their own plates of seafood, knife, seaweed... etc.) It was organized, clean, and Abigail was friendly. I would highly recommend taking a class and now I want to attend one of her Dining in the Dark events. Instagram @date_night_craves

Yelp
Had such a fun time taking a cooking class here that was co-hosted by City Girls Who Walk in the basement of Abigail's Kitchen. We made several recipes, including pizza, fries, homemade ketchup, ranch, and almond butter bars - all of which were vegan and gluten free! The event was very organized and the staff promptly removed any dishes that needed to be cleaned or ones we didn't need. Our class lasted 2.5 hrs and we got to enjoy our product at the end - YUM! We were also able to take any leftovers back, which is my favorite thing about cooking classes. Overall, I'd come back to check out their other dining / cooking experiences based off my time tonight.

Yelp
I am pleased to share that Abigail has provided me with the recipes I had requested from our class.

Yelp
This review is long overdue. For our fourth anniversary, I surprised my partner with a class on Natural Wines at Abigail's Kitchen. It was absolutely marvelous. We had such a good time tasting and distinguishing wines. The cheeses we sampled with the wine was delicious and we learned so much from the instructor. I definitely recommend signing-up for any of their classes provided.

Yelp
Good food, good service, and good location. The restaurants are busy on a weekend evening and very noisy but otherwise it's very very nice.

Yelp
Attended the Stirred, Shaken and More: A Cocktail Class with Bites and it was a wonderful time! Svetlana was a great instructor and was engaging the whole time. All of the drinks were delicious and learned a lot about how to make a great drink. Would recommend!

Yelp
We were guests at the new location for the dining in the dark dinner. It was fabulous! Abby is wonderful and so kind. She is able to accommodate food preferences and appears to do so with ease. What an experience!

Yelp
Oh my God, Abigail's kitchen was an excellent place to learn how to cook for the first time, or just to refresh your cooking skills. Abigail was patient, thorough and gave great explanations on preparing the entrées. We had a wonderful, wonderful experience.

Yelp
I attended a cooking class that left fell far short of my expectations. First, the good. The staff was friendly, the host engaging, and the food smelled great when you entered. The bad. Class was slated to start at 7pm but between the wait and the chef's intro the actual "cooking" did not start until well after 8. In the meantime there were no appetizers (it was part of the menu but the kitchen was backed up) or drinks. Wine/beer is supposed to be part of the package but it wasn't offered during the wait. (Cocktails were available for purchase). I was not comfortable with the food prep. The herbs and spices that were to be used in the dishes were passed around for all to touch and smell. (And then not washed again) The instructor talked over the meat. The table was the chopping board, but prior to starting during the wait, people had placed their bags and phones and then later the recycled menus on the table. People, instructor included, were touching their phones, and hair and then the ingredients. Sadly, I didn't have a good experience...I didn't get the "experience" that you're paying for and I wouldn't recommend. Things to note: -The cooking class is in the basement. It's not the smallest space but it feels cramped with 10-12 people. -It a communal cooking experience, meaning that the food is prepared and shared by the attendees. You don't have your own station/portions/knives etc -The restaurant is next door to a club like venue with a crowd that spilled into the restaurant entrance. Between the weed smoke and their indifference, it made for an unpleasant entry/exit.

Yelp
Enjoyed the dinner in the dark here in general, however I think that some points could be improved. At first communication is very poor. After making a booking I never received a confirmation and all calls and emails were ignored. I was very nervous that I just lost money on some scam till the moment I actually got there. I would prioritize food more over alcohol in this kind of experience. Make portions bigger!

Hanna W.

Yelp
Spent $200 on a gift card for a Cooking Class. After trying to use the gift card, it would not work. Tried to call several times, as well as email, all ignored. Additionally, I sent her a few messages through Instagram, which the account read but ignored. Seems like an easy solution but this has gone on for too long.

Yelp
Traveling with a group of 12 adults for a long weekend. We stopped at Betty's for a bite and beverages on our arrival travel day. They were able to accommodate all12 of us outside on a beautiful fall day. The food was fantastic. My husband and I had shrimp and grits and mushroom flatbread pizza. Delish. Staff was good and friendly. We asked if Betty was in and found Abigail was there. After a great conversation about her story we ended up booking Dinner in the Dark for three days later for a party of eight. That was a wonderful experience. We all had a five course meal with wine pairings blindfolded! It was an incredible experience. All other senses were heightened! I would highly recommend! Abby has a grounded spirit about her and treated us like old friends/family. Thank you! I don't want to give away any fund secrets!

Yelp
This is for dinner in the dark! One word- Do it! Celebrate something if you can. What an experience! Great service. They take it one level up. Food is great. I won't say extraordinary. But great. Constant wine fills. They let you hand afterward. Beautifully executed experience. I will not mention what we had because it will ruin the experience in case there are similarities. Apparently they have seasonal menus depending on what the chef gets at the market each day. Wine pairings are good, food is good, beautifully thought out and executed. We had a great night. Yes you don a Blindfold and go inside the bistro. The big re real is at the end. What stood out is they are accommodating. From taking photos to walking us to the restroom they do it all, and with a smile. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Yelp
Wow! a very unique experience. My friends and I decided to try Abigail's 'Dinner in the Dark' experience after I heard about something similar in Mexico. The event is unique in that the dinner features a 4-course meal which is not revealed to you until the day of the event. If thats not interesting enough, then add a blindfold to the mix. That's right, you'll be eating a mystery dinner, blindfolded. Its not a crazy as you think though. The entire experience is about $136 and includes 4 courses of food, unlimited wine, taxes, and gratuity. Seriously, thats an awesome deal! Abigail tailors the menu to suit your allergies/intolerances and/or preferences (100 points!). The staff will not tell you anything about the meal, no matter how hard you try to convince them to. Your senses will be extremely heightened during the experience. Its also a great time to connect with whoever your sitting with. I learned so much more about my friends throughout the experience. Upon arrival, we were greeted outside by staff and none other than Abigail herself. The staff passed out the blindfolds. Abigail gave us an overview of the experience then guided us into the restaurant blindfolded. You aren't 'allowed' to see the restaurant until the very end. We were able to sit together despite purchasing separate tix. The ambience of the venue felt very relaxed; Abigail plays a great diverse blend of music as you dine. Staff remain available to assist with anything from drinks to bathroom breaks. Abigail began with a cute ice breaker, I don't want to give it away but we did a tasting of a food item in unison. Wine was passed out with each course. For the starter, we had a cauliflower soup that was so delicious. Very hearty and smooth. Second course was a salad that included fresh fruit, beets, and goat cheese. Main course was a pork tenderloin dish that featured polenta. I thought it was beef stew lol but nonetheless seasoned well and the pork was tender. Dessert was a crepe topped with chocolate sauce and raspberries, very rich and tasty. Among the drinks, my favorite was the champagne given during the first course, and the dessert wine. Staff were amazing! very attentive, helpful, and kind. At one point, i started to freak out being blindfolded (I am claustrophobic). One staff member guided me outside and helped me calm down without judgement, very appreciative. I took pics during the event by holding up my phone up and randomly shooting pics lol (please excuse the weird angles and blurriness) but staff was more than happy to take pics for us as well. I must also add that the space itself is really beautiful and romantic. At the end, we sang songs and finally pulled off our blindfolds to see a dimly lit room with a bar close by and long tables. Very reminiscent of a Parisian restaurant. Abigail revealed the menu to us, many of the items are locally sourced. I only had two issues with the experience though: - Food takes long to come out. I'm pretty sure Abigail prepares the meal during the service but it felt like forever. Could be that my sense of time was off given the blindfold or I was simply hangry, either way it was a long wait. - I felt hungry afterward. Perhaps more starch with the meal would have helped. Overall, a memorable and insightful experience. I'd recommend it for groups, dates, and perhaps event a team building experience. Would definitely return as well.

Yelp
If you haven't done dark dining before, I highly recommend it! The "Dining in the Dark" experience at Camaje Bistro did not disappoint. It was a an amazing sensory experience with tasty food and excellent staff. 5 stars! A crunchy toast set us into a world of tactile and sensory stimulation. The music and scented candles were a nice touch to the dinner. Without giving too much away I would just say the food was delicious. Also not everything is at it seems. Keep guessing what's on your plate and touching, tasting, listening, and experiencing your meal. A screen free 2-3 hours is a nice perk. Did I mention the wine was amazing? Thank you Camaje !

Stephen L.

Yelp
I made a reservation for 7pm the day before. Note that Camaje does have an event every Wednesday and Saturday, dinner in the dark which is from 8pm to closing. So if you do plan to come here on a Wednesday or a Saturday, the latest reservation time is 6pm for regular dinner. I called to make a reservation and they were very polite over the phone and sounded very professional. When I finally came, they were busy but still very attentive and greeted us right away and told my wife and I that they'll be right with us. They seriously have their customer service on point. They didn't rush us and made sure we felt comfortable and came by to check up on us periodically. The atmosphere and the staff was what made this experience pretty nice. I thought the food was sub par to French restaurants I have tried in New York and in France. For appetizers, we had the escargot and the clams. The escargot was not in a shell, which was not a deal breaker but the taste was not as tasty as I hoped for. The long neck clams appeared to have the same sauce as the escargot and was a bit bitter because it was probably made with some white wine. Both appetizers were in this neon green sauce which didn't appear appealing to us. The entrees we felt were small and the taste underwhelming. My wife ordered the black sea bass, although it was okay, she felt the lentils were not thoroughly cooked, some were soft and some were hard. I ordered the bouillabaisse and it was lacking in flavor. Some salt and pepper would have made my entree a lot better. The food wasn't horrible and we did finish everything. We left feeling hungry after a two course meal, which should never be the case. If it hadn't been for the Groupon, I would have not come here. That being said, I will most likely not come back to this restaurant since the food portions were small.

Yelp
My daughter's birthday was coming up and being that it's so close to Christmas I always try to celebrate beforehand. A neighbor had recommended having a sensory food experience and I researched "Dinners in the Dark." What a fun time we had and it's such a great group activity. First the Chef, Abigail, is super friendly, very careful about following any food restrictions of which we had several, and is a part of the whole experience. She and her staff safely get you to your seats blindfolded and has some commentary during the dinner. The dishes were awesome, well balanced, flavorful, easy to enjoy and paired with lovely wines, all the way to dessert. Would definitely do again as it really does make you aware of what you're eating and heightens your sense of smell, taste and hearing. Highly recommend!

Jasmine M.

Yelp
I had an amazing experience at blindfolded dinner dining it's a fantastic experience Abigail's very interactive with her customers which you don't see often the entire experience was fantastic i recommend being extremely clear of foods you don't wanna eat which i wasn't the restaurant is small and cozy the only thing is that she doesn't have an outdoor sign and parking is extremely difficult but that aside i highly recommend

Yelp
Dinner in the Dark! What a fabulous experience! I was extremely anxious about doing this but didn't hesitate to make reservations when the conversation came up between my husband and I! We are big foodies and have thoroughly exhausted wine pairing dinners in some of the best restaurants in Manhattan.....from Per se, Eleven Madison Park, Atera, Momo Fuko Ko, etc.....not to mention the countless speakeasies we have been to as well so we were looking for something different to experience and in researching we found this! From the moment Chef Abigail stepped out and explained what we were about to experience I was beginning to feel my tension decrease....I did have a special request which they were accommodating and that also eased my anxiety! After the initial walking into the restaurant, which for me was the worst part, and we sat down with a champagne being poured I was completely comfortable! Our waitstaff were pleasant, and ninja like as they seemed to bring us our food, then take our plates away, fill up our glasses with wine with complete silent precision! Now for the food! From the crostini to the salad to the desert....every bite was an adventure as our taste buds were forced to try and determine the dish! You can hear other diners trying to guess and we were like oh yeah, I definitely taste beet in there or some lavender in that! Bravo Chef Abigail! Thank You for a lovely evening!

Cynthia S.

Yelp
My bf didnt tell me that its gonna be dinners in the dark. I found out when we arrived there and i was terrified that im gonna break things since im gonna be blindfolded the whole 3 hours. Thats not the case. Food was amazing and we didnt look at our phone for once

Kristina O.

Yelp
Dinner in the dark review: Let's start with the fact that I don't like surprises but I do like trying new experiences. This one I'm so glad I did! They have you put on the blindfold outside and do a conga line with strangers into the restaurant. It's a funny way to start the night. Once they individually seat you down, be prepared to hear everyone's conversation and potentially shout yourself. You begin the meal with a toast-glass of I won't tell in hand and a bite. Next, you get your salad which has layers of flavor and different textures of ingredients. The main meal is simple but savory. Last but not least, dessert. The ice cream on the side is to die for. All of this comes with non-stop pouring wine! And let's just say, being tipsy while blind is a good time. You can tell them your food restrictions beforehand online and they customize based on that. Also, they switch up the meals so what we had may be completely different from what you get. While it's pricey, it was worth it for the experience. Tip: bring cash to provide a tip!

Kelli A.

Yelp
The rudest establishment service is terrible - the host is extremely difficult - not worth your time

Cindy C.

Yelp
not bad for a groupon deal, a bit disappoint thou. since they only have certain stuff on the menu and the one thing i want to try was reserved and it seems like for 1 serving of the night?!?!! the server was very nice. she was very patience and sweet explaining and apologizing to most of the customers. (felt bad for her) the entrees, it was okay.

Victoria B.

Yelp
Had a great date night Dining in the Dark. From start to end Abigail was great at taking us through the whole process. I was a little nervous at first but you can telll they've been doing this for years! The food was amazing!! They kept the drinks flowing and our server was always checking on us to see how we were doing. I 100% recommending the experience! I plan on giving this as a gift too. Gratuity is also included when yyou book which was great. I want to go back already. Also, they were extremely accommodating to my husband who hates seafood and I am allergic to apples. *I don't want to give away what we ate/drank because guessing is the best part!

Charlotte J.

Yelp
First off, I want say that the owner is kind and makes you feel welcome. The ambiance is charming and romantic. I rarely write reviews, and when I do, it's usually a positive review for a restaurant in which I've had an incredible experience. I wanted to like the class and the food, but unfortunately I found it lacking in several ways. Perhaps our mindset and review would have changed had we done a different cooking class at Abigail's Kitchen, or the dinner in the dark. My partner and I decided to attend the dumpling making class. Most of the class consists of you doing a lot of the prep work (cutting vegetables and following a recipe), which can be helpful if you want practice with prepping ingredients. However, I would have appreciated more history and background on the different dumplings made. It seemed like Abigail had a very rudimentary and basic knowledge of the dumplings we were making and their cultural background. I grew up making dumplings with my mother, and these dumplings paled in comparison. Unfortunately, both the soup dumplings and the momo dumplings turned out to have raw dough when we finally say down to eat them. The gyoza and the samosas turned out fine, but I've had higher quality gyoza and samosas at local shops made by individuals who had more experience making these items. It was really kind of them to offer unlimited alcohol as well as setting the table for us to enjoy the food we had made. TL;DR The price is high for what you're getting. You're mostly paying for someone to provide the ingredients and clean up after you. You're doing most of the labor. There isn't enough cultural context or experience it seems when it comes to the owner's understanding of the different dumplings you make.

Anthony F.

Yelp
Amazing! Abagail was awesome! The food was excellent. The place was perfect! The staff was great! HIGHLY recommended!!!!!!

Maggie B.

Yelp
I don't know how anyone rated this less than 5 stars. I went to Dinner in the Dark and have a ton of food allergies and they did an incredible job with accommodating me. The price is extremely reasonable for the quality of food and the staff is extremely nice

Olivia S.

Yelp
We absolutely loved our Dinner in the Dark visit. It was the perfect gift for my boyfriend for Christmas. Every piece of food and sip of drinks (not revealing the menu) was fantastic. I have recommended this to so many family and friends at this point and will continue to! We had to reschedule due to Covid and Abigail was so understanding.

Yelp
Value: 9/10 Experience: 10/10 Taste: 8.5/10 Cozy restaurants with great food and service. Great experience and would recommend. It can be a bit loud when it's packed but I can see it being a nice date location. Value: We got the tuna tartare, steak frites, coq au vin, brussels sprouts, chocolate banana crepe, and 2 teas for $102 before tip and tax. We also had a Groupon which was $32 for $78 worth of food. Really can't beat the price for the amount of food we got and we were stuffed after! Experience: The waitresses were super attentive with refilling the water and clearing the table. They also gave great recommendations for all the courses. The interior was cozy and clean as well. Taste: The tuna tartare was slightly bland but the fresh herbs made it a light appetizer. The steak was cooked the way I want it and the fries were hot and fresh. I also tried a bite of the coq au vin and that dish was balanced so well. The brussel sprouts were fantastic and sweet with honey. The crepe was rich though a tad small. Do not that the teas will get you an entire pot of tea and not just a cup so we had 2 whole pots of tea!

Yelp
FANTASTIC CONCEPT, POOR EXECUTION *warning- includes an experience spoiler (not the food) Not much drives me to review, but this did. Please note I had planned to surprise my boyfriend with this for 4 months (nothing like this exists near us). The beginning of the experience was exciting, the first beverage and food item good, but then things took a turn. To make a very long story short, what I could bring myself to eat of the food was bland AT BEST. Certainly not worth the price tag. Worse, at some point the head chef- who leads you through the experience- initiated a meditative moment. Fine, right? Sure. During this, one of the staff walk around with some sort of instrument making noises over music. Odd, but fine. Then suddenly someone touched my shoulders and shortly after I felt a feather on my forearm. While I understand it's probably an attempt to bring out a heightened sense of touch, blindfolded in an unfamiliar place seems like a pretty poor time to touch people with no warning. It was startling and made us very uncomfortable. The night ended with a Backstreet Boys' song and the food reveal. It's a real shame the chef's food wasn't a quarter as good as what she described. She did an excellent job of making it sound like you got your money's worth, but the reality is the food was not good, the touching and music were very odd, and you're better off finding another spot.

Liz A.

Yelp
Honestly I come here every time I am in the city, which is usually once or twice per month. I think I would come even if the food wasn't superb, just for the impeccable service alone. We usually are lucky and get Ernest as our waiter which makes the experience 100 times better. I wish I could put him in my pocket and take him home with me. Servers are always so attentive and kind, knowledgeable about the food they're serving, and eager to discuss it with you. Last night I got the clams in a butter ramp sauce, my second time getting it and they are wonderful! Other people have commented that the sauce is too salty or that it does not taste like ramps, both of which I don't find to be true. The saltiness is something to be expected of a seafood dish, especially clams, and the ramp butter is a very present, delicious addition. For an entree, I got the Long Island duck, which was made to perfection, glazed well & crisp, small amount of fat adding perfect amount of flavor. The side was Swiss chard root and mixed greens with potatoes & it was delicious!! Dessert I had the flourless chocolate cake which you cannot go wrong with. I ate it in three bites it was so good. I've come here about 8 times and always get the flourless cake because it is one of the most delicious ones I have had. Overall, I look forward to Camaje every time I'm in the city. The kindness and quality of food is unparalleled and the prices are reasonable, especially if you have the Groupon for dinner! Try this place out and I PROMISE you will not be sorry!

Juliane L.

Yelp
We had a delicious meal at Camaje! We came in with a Groupon and got 1 appetizer to share, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert. We settled on the grilled garlic shrimp with a salad and a carrot confit. It was tasty but my least favorite item. The shrimp could have been more charred and the carrot confit while tasty was super oily. Our entrees were the sea bass and the duck breast. Both were amazing!! The sea bass was perfectly cooked and seasoned with a taste of Mediterranean Sea. The duck breast was fabulous, perfectly cooked with the skin crunchy!! Yum yum yum!! I also loved the roasted potatoes that came with it, and I am not a fan of potatoes. Both dishes were perfectly balanced and tasteful! Our dessert was a slice of tarte tatin. I loved the softly buttered and caramelized apples, the crust was so thin it was amazing! The only thing missing was some sort of a fresh component, maybe a scoop of ice cream? Or some crème fraîche like they do it in Normandy!! The service was great, the atmosphere very romantic and the music kindly wrapped up the whole place. Also, Abby, the creative chef behind the succulent dishes came out at some point to help with the waters. I thought it was cool!

Yelp
A long-running truly French-style French restaurant minus the aloof waiters--limited options, well presented food, intimate, funky room; tiny bathroom, no air conditioning. Good salad, very good onion soup, duck and pommes frites and excellent service. Chicken only ok--but when they offer coq au vin, it is excellent. Excellent service, moderate for NYC prices and offers many clases. Always good to see the Greenwich Village foot traffic passing by. Groupon may be available.

Rachel A.

Yelp
I did the shop & cook class: Chinatown for fish yesterday and it was just fabulous. Abigail was so knowledgeable and provided invaluable information from how to select fish, prep it, to various ways to cook it that have broad applicability. I will definitely be using many of the skills I learned in this class in the future. She was patient and answered questions. The restaurant, which is totally revamped and now called Abigail's Kitchen is beautiful inside. I also loved the small class size and lovely wine included. So much bang for your buck here. I'll definitely go to another class.

Yelp
Last night we tried a "Dining in the Dark" experience. Not only was it a fascinating tactile and sensory experience, the food was also sensational!! After a crunchy piece of garlic toast just to get you oriented, and listen to the crunch, an excellent meal followed. First was a delightful tomato and herb bisque, then an appetizer of grilled scallop atop a lightly creamed corn. The entree was a grilled pork cutlet that everyone in the room thought was steak. It was so flavorful and tender, served with fingerling potatoes and string beans with a few pickled cauliflower. Just scrumptious! Dessert was a small scoop of ice cream served atop a fruity crepe. During the dinner we were also served a variety of delightful wines. The owner and staff were all excellent and caring, ensuring everyone had a wonderful time!!

Yelp
Service was no good, food was horrible. I would highly recommend checking out some of the other amazing flavorful food New York has to offer

Yelp
I don't know where to begin or how to describe our experience at Abigail's Kitchen. From the moment we walked in the door until the time we left, we were welcomed and felt like we were cooking and visiting with friends. We were a party of 6 celebrating two 30th Birthdays and could not have found a more perfect place to enjoy each others company. Abby and her staff were very hospitable and comfortable with all the guests in the "kitchen" that night. The passion Abby brings to her cooking and teaching is beyond contagious. She willingly shares her deep knowledge of food and cooking techniques. The food is of excellent quality and the preparation is very uncomplicated. The results are a delicious and unique blend of flavors and textures. I can't wait to signup for another class with Abby!!!

Yelp
This was one of the best experiences I've had in New York. Chef Abigail is an amazing chef, the food and atmosphere were incredible. I highly recommend while in New York for someone who wants to try something different on a date.

Yelp
This review is for Dining in the Dark: overall, I thought this was a really cool experience and would recommend it to others. The blindfolds really do make you blind- I couldn't see anything, and it was really neat to have to guess what you're eating. It was also fun to have a completely distraction free conversation with your dinner companion. The meal comes with wine including refills, so the value ends up being pretty decent. I wouldn't say the food is the best I've ever had, but you go to Dining in the Dark for the experience, not the cuisine itself. Another thing- our reservation was for a cold night in February, and when we got there 5 minutes early there was a sign on the door saying we have to wait outside until a staff member comes out for orientation. We then did another 5 minutes of orientation in the freezing cold outside. This is borderline unacceptable- if I had to wait 5 more minutes longer I probably would have left, because it was that cold. They should probably figure out a way to get people inside to wait during the winter months.

Yelp
The hidden gem of Greenwich village! Had a great time at Camage for birthday dinner. Very personal touch and cozy and no rush for food! Felt like eating home-cooking food at home. Had a 4 top table reservation and changed to 2 people at the last min but Abby the owner of the restaurant had no issue with handling the issue and greeted us with warm smiles and stayed with us till the end of the meal. Felt I was very welcome there. Cheese plater. Good numbers of choice! Steak tartar was very yummy to start and fresh cut! Littleneck clam was very fresh and right seasoning! French onion soup made me sweat! Yummy! The duck breast and steak were juicy and tender with the full flavor of meat! I was thinking "What have you done with meat! So tender!!" I highly recommend Camaje and thanks for showing me what French-American bistro should be! I feel like I should go there for the french onion soup with a glass of wine middle of a cold weather day. Thanks again Abby and hope to see you soon!

Yelp
Great service, great food, and great atmosphere! The waiter was very attentive and fulfilled our every need with a smile on his face. The food was delicious, it was the perfect amount of salt and the portion was really generous. I was hesitant to come here at first because of the reviews of small portions, but my partner and I couldn't even finish everything because it was so much! The ice cream is house-made and was so delicious!! I highly recommend ordering the ice cream and sorbet for dessert.

Yelp
This review is for the Dark Dining meal on June 12, 2013. It's not a joke and it's not like the movies. Camaje takes their Dark Dining very seriously. Till this day I have no idea what the restaurant looks like (much because I don't care to return). At Dark Dining, we were lead into the restaurant, seated, walked to the bathroom, and walked out blindfolded. Dark Dining promises a four-course meal with wine and entertainment. We had a singer and someone who went around the room massaging. All in all, not the kind of entertainment during dinner I prefer. We were asked to sing with the singer quite a few times and the massager went around touching everyone. Gross. The food was meant to heighten your senses. However, crunching on burnt toast is a bit of a cop out and most of the food arrived cold (including the dinner entrée). It seems that Camaje is unable to time meals for large groups. A lot of the food was dry and less than room temperature as if the dishes had been sitting on the counter for some time. I also found the portions extremely small. Just because you are blindfolded and can't see your meal, does not mean you should be cheated out of a good one. This is what we ate and drank: - Toasted Stirato (Italian baguette) with Extra Virgin Olive Oil & Garlic - Chilled Avocado & Cucumber Soup with Herbs - Arctic Char with Garlic Scape-Arugula Pesto over a Raw Salad of Rainbow Swiss Chard, Tuscan Kale, Napa Cabbage and Toasted Pine Nuts - Spice-Rubbed (Cumin, Coriander, Cinnamon & Smoked Paprika) Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Israeli Cous Cous & Lentil Salad - Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp (oats, spices, dark brown sugar, toasted coconut) with Our Homemade Mint Ice Cream Wines: -Creyssels 2010 Picpoul de Pinet, Languedoc, France -William Cole 2009 Chardonnay, Casablanca Valley, Chile -Les Violettes 2011 Côtes-du-Rhône, Rhône, France -Casa de Sta. Eufemia Tawny Porto Unfortunately, the experience was not for me and it is not a meal I'd recommend to anyone. And while a fun concept (dining in the dark), the Camaje experience is not an one I'd recommend for a date. Call me a klutz but within 15 minutes I had knocked over my wine glass and spilled wine all over mine. It's a good thing he still talks to me. Camaje? They were nice enough to calm down my embarrassment and say it happens all the time. Thanks Camaje, but I won't be back no matter how many times you refill my glass.

Yelp
Nothing spectacular about this place - sort of just forgettable. Went there for brunch with a friend - I ordered the eggs benny with ham - which was just meh. My friend ordered a pumpkin soup which she also said was meh. Highlight - sitting outside, and the $24 bottle of Prosecco that accompanied our meal. I don't think I would recommend this place, I don't think I wouldn't either.

Yelp
Like everyone else has mentioned, Chef Abby is amazing. Very friendly and approachable. Not at all what you expect from a head chef (if TV shows and books are to be believed). I took the Knife Skills class, and was initially worried that it would be too introductory. But Chef Abby takes a short survey at the beginning to find out what everybody's needs are and then does as much customization as she can on the fly. The lesson started out with a glass of wine and bread, while she explained the different types of knives, and let us get a feel for each one. There was also a take-home packet for reference. Once we got slicing and dicing, there was a big cutting table that was comfortable enough for 6 people (though any more would be crowded). We went through basic techniques, and she gave us individual pointers based on what we were doing. It's so much better than trying to learn from watching TV or YouTube, because she'll tell you exactly how to perfect your form. Chef Abby also goes out of her way to answer any questions, related to the class or just the restaurant industry as a whole. She has some great stories too. The course description said we would be making gazpacho and fruit salad. We actually ran over time, so we spent most of the time working on our vegetable cuts. The fruit part was more of a demo, with her just explaining how to cut and how to pick fruit. Then we sat down and ate the (literal) fruits of our labor. The classes take place in the restaurant. They don't close down the restaurant, so people can still come in for dinner (they might for larger classes though). I loved the meal I previously had at Camaje, so I can't blame them even though it might be a bit awkward. But that also means that students can order food and it'll be at your table when the class is done (the gazpacho and fruit salad wasn't quite heavy enough for dinner, so this was a tempting prospect). All in all, this was my second cooking class ever, and I enjoyed it a lot. Chef Abby mentioned that the rest of the courses are more hands-on and you get to go into the kitchen, so I look forward to the day when I'll have a need for those classes!

Yelp
Perhaps I've been too five-star happy of late, but I can't help it if restaurants are trying really hard to please me. Camaje is a gem: a small, quaint French bistro in one of the trendiest neighborhoods that somehow remains off the radar. And I'm not complaining. Once again, a Scoutmob coupon brought me to the doorstep. When you enter, you step into a little world that's part Brooklyn coffee shop (see cushy sofa with a front-row seat for MacDougal people-watching) and part Parisian cafe, with all of the expertise and none of the pretension. My friend and I shared a simple meal: the cheese and charcuterie plates, which come with croutons. The cold cuts, preceded by excellent French bread and butter, were very nice, but what really sets this place apart is the service (I wish I could remember the waiter/host's name, but all I recall is that he was working the entire room on Friday evening). It was an exhibition in attentive, informative, and superlative service with none of the unnecessary pageantry. He knew just when to insert himself with suggestions and when to seamlessly recede into the background. I will surely be back for the more creative menu items, but I want to make sure that this gentleman's word gets recognized! PS: The prices are very, very reasonable, and the comprehensive French wine list will take care of any palate.

Yelp
Friendly and informative, Chef Abby gets it done in the laid back confines of Bistro Camaje, which provides a serene setting for cooking for small groups. I was observing a class of 8 and participated in supporting the class with the essentials in tools they needed. While Bistro Camaje is primarily French/American, Chef Abby has a other styles to teach such as Japanese, Knife Skills, and English: the point is to ask in advance. The hands on approach really sets it aside from places like Eataly, which has super facilities, but the students are just numbers that observe the process. I saw a birthday party there for 25 which closed the venue as the group separated into teams that made a portion of the dinner. While sipping wine and beer, the teams each took turns in making their contribution. It was a very cool idea.

Yelp
Omigosh. So. Good. My fiancé and I got a gift certificate here & came to redeem it this evening. At first, I didn't think much of the place. It's a little small and not at all pretentious, but it does have a simple charm to it. Our waitress was the absolute best! She was so sweet and very attentive. I really thought she was outstanding. The food was incredibleee. I don't know how people found anything to complain about. For apps, we had the garlic sautéed shrimp and the hot crab dip. Honestly, the dip was the only thing I wasn't crazy about, but it wasn't something I particularly wanted to begin with (thanks fiancé). The shrimp were divine. My only complaint is that there weren't more on the plate (that's my inner fatty talking). For entrees, we shared the Kobe burger and a seared scallop special of the day. I can't even explain how incredible the scallops were. Crispy edges with a buttery soft interior and SO tasty. The veggies underneath were equally amazing! Just thinking about it all over again makes my mouth water. The burger, while a little on the small side, was delicious. We added fries (REAL fries BTW.) and onion rings and both were above average. Again ... tasty and crispy. Whoever's cooking back there knows what they're doing! Everything was cooked to perfection. We went a little overboard and got dessert too. Why not, right? Everyone was talking up the Banoffee Pie so much that I just HAD to indulge. So glad I did. Worth every single calorie! Overall, we had a beautiful experience. Such a great meal to celebrate my (belated) birthday. Thanks Camaje! I'm sure I'll see you soon! ;)
