Desserts like the Napoleon with gula melaka mousse, lime zest, whipped cream, and brûléed banana offer a sweet ending." - MICHELIN Guide
"Entering the dimly lit boîte, New York’s 53, a spot I've been meaning to check out. The name of the restaurant hails from its location, 53 West 53rd Street, which also happens to be the address of one of Manhattan’s premiere residences. Inside the two-floor restaurant, the diners upstairs were slick, elegant, and oozing romance. The menu featured dishes like Yellowtail with ikura, citrus, and sorrel, and the diver scallop in XO sauce. Moving onto heartier fare like Lobster rice in a lotus leaf served with ikura, and halibut with mushroom broth and ginger. For dessert, Napoleon filled with a mousse flavored with gula melaka and served with brûléed banana." - MICHELIN Guide
"This “contemporary Asian” spot from the Marea team is right next door to the MoMA, so it’s only fitting that it raises the bar for restaurant design in NYC. The main dining room features sweeping rainbow-colored blades across the ceiling that might remind you of strings on a giant harp. For your next big night out, head here for some of the city's best soup dumplings, and don’t even try to decide between the sambal-smothered skate and the incredibly moist Hainanese chicken—just get both." - bryan kim, sonal shah, kenny yang, carina finn koeppicus
"Located right next to the MoMA, 53’s space is fittingly contemporary and objectively gorgeous. The main floor looks like a mini airport hanger designed by a Pritzker Prize-winning architect, and you’ll see sweeping curvy, rainbow-colored blades in the opulent downstairs room. This modern Asian restaurant from the Marea team serves flawless dishes like chicken and truffle soup dumplings and skate covered in sambal. If you've been searching for a restaurant worthy of your favorite fancy outfit, this is it." - bryan kim, kenny yang
"Need to have a fancy meal in Midtown with your coworkers, some clients, or a bunch of family members who only eat within walking distance of Grand Central? Try the private dining room at 53. One of the Best New Restaurants of 2022, this “contemporary Asian” spot is big and glitzy, with impressive architectural touches like a rainbow-colored ceiling. Menu highlights include the Hainanese chicken and xiao long bao with Burgundy truffle." - team infatuation
