Lunch for Loners
Monkey Bar
American restaurant · Midtown East
When a new outfit arrives in the mail and you have nowhere to go. It’s open for lunch. My go-to is ginger beer over pebbled ice, wedge salad and a side of fries. Clean, crisp iceberg pardons the indulgence of bleu cheese. 2 slabs of bacon stabbed in the center. Heaven.
Mesiba
Middle Eastern restaurant · Williamsburg
Before you judge me for making a postcard for the “Moxy Hotel”…. It’s a beautiful feeling to walk across the Williamsburg bridge on an edible, stroll into an air conditioned hotel lobby, order a mint tea, and a pavlova. Crack it open and you’ll discover a luscious raspberry sorbet within that will keep you oohing and ahhing.
Noona Noodles
Korean restaurant · Midtown West
It’s my noodle shop, so I have to give it a shout out. It’s the best. Even when I’m not there, I’ll order via uber. My mom’s collagen-rich bone broth in the kalguksu (knife cut noodles) and soojaebi (handpulled noodles) does wonders for my skin. Our family loves fistfuls of vegetables in our soup so you always get the good stuff. We’re in a food court in k-town so the people watching is next level.
S&P Lunch
Restaurant · Flatiron District
Grab a seat at the counter for an unfussy bite. Sandwiches are “tea size”. Not your typical triple decker NY diner sandwiches. Skip the tap water and order a dr.brown black cherry soda OR a matzoh ball soup.
