"Figo Il Gelato Italiano serves creamy, vividly flavorful gelato on the border of Little Italy and Nolita. This flagship location of an NYC mini-chain (also in Astoria and Greenwich Village) has a small storefront in cheerful shades of green, with friendly staff who, yes, are sure they don’t mind if you try yet another sample. There are unique flavors on offer here—like the eponymous Figo, with caramelized figs and a cheesy ricotta complexity—and you can even order your gelato served in a warm brioche bun. We can’t resist the classics, like chocolate hazelnut with Ferrero Rocher chunks, either. You don't need to go out of your way for this gelato, but if you’re in the neighborhood, treat yourself to a pistachio cone, or a cup of the bright, vegan mango. There are only a few small tables outside, but your gelato will taste better if you enjoy it while taking a people-watching stroll down Mulberry Street anyway. photo credit: Alex Staniloff" - Molly Fitzpatrick
