McSorley's Old Ale House - Review - East Village - New York - The Infatuation

"If McSorley’s weren’t so crowded with people shuffling around its sawdust-strewn floor, stepping aside for bartenders carrying more beers than seemingly possible, it would be one of the coolest bars in the city. With walls covered in ancient newspaper clippings, this Irish pub has been operating in the East Village since 1854, making it one of the oldest bars in NYC. You have two beverage choices: light or dark beer, which they make themselves and serve in half pints, so don’t be surprised when you're handed two small glasses. You'd better know which kind you want, and how much of it, because the bartenders won’t take “Um” for an answer. Get a cheese plate with crackers and raw onions to go with them. To avoid the tourists and interns, come during the day on a weekend—it’s something every New Yorker should do at least once. photo credit: Will Hartman" - Will Hartman
