"Bob Bob Ricard is a larger-than-life Soho spot that falls firmly into the category of ‘you should try everything once’. That goes for their ‘push for champagne’ button, the caviar dégustation that you’ll never financially recover from, and the signature golden chocolate glory orb, which melts impressively in front of you like your plans to return. The taste levels at this modern European spot are questionable—depending where you stand on the gold, velvet, mobster’s palace look. But it’s all very fun in an extravagant, ‘blow the budget’ kind of way. Plus, the food is lovely. Salty, soft pork belly in particular, with a crispy pork quaver, is almost worth returning for. Almost. But ultimately it feels like a one and done spot—the kind of showy backdrop that works well for semi-ironic, big birthday celebrations or impressing out-of-towners. We much prefer its chicken-and-chips sibling, Bébé Bob. photo credit: Bob Bob Ricard" - Sinéad Cranna
