"Tam’s Noodle House is a great SGV option when you’re with a big group and everybody’s yelling for something different. The casual Hong Kong-style cafe (with locations in San Gabriel and Rowland Heights) has an encyclopedic menu with sections dedicated to dumplings, toasts, claypot dishes, noodles, soups, and stir-fries. There are standouts in all of them. We love the soft, salty-sweet steamed rice noodles with shrimp and leeks, and on chilly mornings you’ll find us slurping pork congee or wonton mein in the corner with a strong HK milk tea working on the NYT mini crossword. The interior of the original San Gabriel location is a bit cramped, so if you’re with the family, sit on the large and well-shaded front patio." - Brant Cox
