"G & O, a West Town favorite since 2014, will close on Sunday for a brief hibernation. Ownership plans to reopen on Friday, February 15 with a remodeled interior and a new menu. Owners Chris Mitchell and Turan Yon also run the Aberdeen Tap in West Town. The bar, 459 N. Ogden Avenue, has a new chef. Ownership hired Deirdre Quinn, the opening chef at Fort Willow. That’s DMK Restaurants’ cozy restaurant and bar near Lincoln Park. The space opened in January 2018. At G & O, Quinn is revamping most of the menu but keeping customer favorites like chicken and waffles and the fried chicken sandwich. The menu should feature “street eats from around the world” that will mix with a new drink menu for “unforgettable pairings,” according to a news release. G & O, named for the intersection of Grand and Ogden, is a favorite for customers who don’t want to deal with the hype surrounding nearby West Loop and Fulton Market. The bar will close for 12 days before management unveils its new look. Sunday is the bar’s annual Super Bowl Sunday pig roast." - Ashok Selvam
