"After a nearly three-year wait, The Slanted Door finally has an opening date for its 8,200-square-foot Vietnamese restaurant at the front of the Forum Shops at Caesars. The San Francisco-based icon from Charles Phan plans to debut on March 2, serving dinner every night with dishes from chef de cuisine Lanny Chin and executive sous chef Keris Kuwana, along with general manager Nick Meltzer. The Slanted Door officially announced its arrival in May 2017, promised for 2018, and delayed until summer 2019, until finally settling on an official opening date. Phan received the James Beard Award for Best Chef California in 2004 and The Slanted Door won Outstanding Restaurant from the JBF in 2014. He wrote two cookbooks: Vietnamese Home Cooking and The Slanted Door. The Slanted Door allocated an estimated construction budget of $3 million for the remodel back in 2018 and remains hidden behind plywood. The first out-of-state expansion for the brand features Vietnamese food served in a modern setting. Some of the dishes diners can expect include caramelized black pepper chicken, shaking beef, grapefruit and jícama salad, cellophane noodles with Dungeness crab, and pho ga." - Susan Stapleton
