"On the Figueroa corridor the new Gold Line Bar brings cocktails, mellow vibes, and perhaps the city’s best sound setup. With close ties to Stones Throw Records and founder Peanut Butter Wolf, the team expanded from the label upstairs into a bar focused on highballs and simple three-ingredient cocktail classics, plus rare whiskey, mezcal, and natural wine — akin to a Japanese hi-fi bar interpreted through a California lens. The space houses close to 8,000 personal records from Wolf’s private stash, including limited and out-of-print items on custom wood shelves and a vintage Rock-Ola jukebox; bartenders curate tunes on weeknights while weekend DJs and one-off events pull exclusively from the in-house pile. There's room to lounge in the back and an airy front with a heavy walnut bar and vinyl on display; partners Tyler Bell, his wife Sara Philpott, and Jeffrey Kurt Inc. designed the space. The bar opened recently with Wolf (Chris Manak), Bell, and Jason McGuire running it, and plans to keep daily hours from 5 p.m. until late." - Farley Elliott
