"A new Mediterranean restaurant in Williamsburg, Pomp & Circumstance, backed by Long Island chef James Ahearn and his wife Melissa Morales, recently opened at 577 Lorimer St. near Metropolitan Avenue. The 30-seat spot with an open kitchen serves freshly baked breads, seafood, and meat-forward plates from Ahearn, who formerly ran Verde Wine Bar & Ristorante in Deer Park; much of the food will be cooked in a dome oven. The menu is divided into breads and bread accompaniments (including foie gras liverwurst, bone marrow, and tomato conserva), small plates (poached oysters, dry-aged lamb meatballs, roasted cauliflower), cheese, and larger dishes such as broccoli rabe pesto fettuccine and rabbit leg; meatier offerings that reflect Ahearn’s reputation for cooking off-cuts—veal sweetbreads, tripe, and wagyu brasato—also appear. Brunch is set to begin soon, reservations are being taken for the chef’s counter, the team is awaiting a liquor license to introduce a drink program, and the restaurant is open every day except Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., staying open until midnight on Friday and Saturday." - Carla Vianna
