"Bread Head Sandwiches, the notable pop-up from Trois Mec veteran chefs Alex Williams and Jordan Snyder, is finally opening on Saturday, June 15. Find the pair’s signature crispy focaccia sandwiches on the corner of Montana near 16th Street in a 500-square-foot space. This is the flagship location for Bread Head Restaurant Group, which is owned by Williams, Snyder, former Night + Market operations director Michael Pasternak, and Venice Brands founder Greg Willsey. Both Williams and Snyder come from fine dining backgrounds but are opening a more casual restaurant due to stark realizations sparked by the pandemic. “We were shut down and didn’t see the scalability and sustainability of fine dining,” says Williams. “With both of us being new parents, we needed work-life balance. If we were to go down the road of fine dining, it requires you to be there day in and day out. With Bread Head, we’re making something simple and delicious.” Bread Head’s focaccia is a hybrid between focaccia and ciabatta with a slight crunch and baked fresh daily. Sandwiches are assembled with classic ingredients like ham and butter, roast beef, BLT, chicken salad, and a muffuletta that comes whole or cut in half. A tomato soup is made with chile oil and salad options include Caesar, antipasti, and a chopped full of bacon, blue cheese, iceberg lettuce, red onion, and tomatoes. One can even order focaccia bread with butter. Drink options include a house-made lemonade and iced vanilla cold brew. Though Bread Head can be a grab-and-go experience, the restaurant has 27 seats for dining inside and on the patio. The team sees a bright future ahead with more locations in LA and beyond. “Let’s grow this into the next sandwich chain,” says Williams. “We’d love to see Bread Heads across the states.” Bread Head Sandwiches is located at 1518 Montana Avenue, Santa Monica, CA, 90403, and is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Wednesday through Sunday." - Mona Holmes
