"Set to reopen on July 8 after a closure for structural repairs on its Greenpoint building, Chez Ma Tante plans to keep its classics (yes, those pancakes) while reprising a few original opening-menu items—like oysters with parsley mignonette—at the encouragement of the kitchen team. Co-owner Jake Leiber says the forced closure to rebuild exterior brick walls “was very scary” and that they spent a ton of time and energy trying to place staff so they could reopen with the same team, though several months is a very long time in the restaurant world and many had to move on. He adds that over the years they’ve reinvested in the restaurant but love what it is in its essence and have no desire to change Chez Ma Tante." - Emma Orlow
