"Opening Saturday, May 25 in Prospect Heights, this all-day cafe occupies the former Michelin-starred Oxalis space at 791 Washington Avenue and was created by Redwood Hospitality as a bright neighborhood hub. The front offers takeout, coffee, baked goods, and a retail section from 8:30 a.m. to noon with counter seating—expect items like an egg sandwich, pan Suisse, baguettes, tarts, and maritozzi (Italian whipped cream pastry), all baked by nearby sibling Laurel Bakery and available to-go until sold out. A full-service menu runs noon–3 p.m. and 5–8 p.m., with sandwiches and tartines ($18–$22); salads and vegetables such as pea shoots and sugar snaps or bamboo and littlenecks ($10–$24); and mains like skirt steak and cured hake ($28–$35). The cafe holds a full liquor license, accepts reservations and walk-ins, and its name nods to Marie Louise “Madame Mado” Point." - Melissa McCart
