"After 25 years of servicing passersby along Glendale Boulevard in Atwater Village, I found Tacos Villa Corona is finally expanding into evening hours for the first time in its history: the tiny, 200-square-foot takeaway that opened in 1993 is now serving Tuesday through Friday until 8 p.m. while still closing at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday because they usually sell out. Family-run by co-owner David Flores alongside his mother Maria and sister Felicia, the cash-only spot is among the most well-known burrito restaurants in Los Angeles, known especially for its famous breakfast burritos that draw long weekend lines and for a boost in popularity after Anthony Bourdain stopped by seven years ago on The Layover. Flores told me he used to start prep around 3 a.m. but shifted to coming in at 5 a.m. and leaving prep until after the 2 p.m. close, which led him to experiment with serving customers later into the day. The lunch—and now dinner—menu includes $5 burritos, nachos, and more, and the restaurant even hinted at the change via a tweet to its 145 followers." - Farley Elliott
