"Late last year the Nordic National Museum opened its doors in Ballard, a homage to the Nordic countries and the people who emigrated. Set in a lofty building that mimics the sharp cliffs of a fjord, the museum shares Nordic history, traces emigration, and the culture's influence on Seattle and the Ballard neighborhood. In the museum shop downstairs, visitors can shop for Marimekko tea towels, candles, and hygge guides. At the museum’s Freya Café, a bright canteen flooded with light, diners can have a post-museum meal of smørrebrod, pickled herring, and a Danish hotdog on a homemade pretzel roll, washed down with aquavit cocktails."
