"Back when "Sex and the City" was still on the air, the original Pastis was Manhattan's favorite see-and-be-seen brunch spot. It was also a major part of the Meatpacking District's evolution from, well, a meatpacking district into a glossy enclave of high-end boutiques, restaurants, and clubs. The new Pastis, opened a few years after the first iteration closed and it is a pretty flawless copy, with mosaic tiled floors and warm, flattering lighting. Brunch is classic, well-prepared French bistro fare, with a few health-conscious choices thrown in for good measure. You can't go wrong with the cheeseburger or a classic steak frites. Eggs come in all sorts of preparations, from quiches and tartines, to a ratatouille omelette with egg whites, to a decadent croque monsieur." - Andrea Whittle
