Dean Street Townhouse

"How did it strike you on arrival? It looks like a restaurant—though make that a restaurant with rooms. The sibling to recently re-opened Soho House next door goes big on the all-day restaurant downstairs—so you’d hardly know there’s a 39-room hotel above. What’s the crowd like?Soho types, media types, know-it-all types, and types who love the food and ambiance of Soho House properties but can’t afford a membership. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.As with other Soho House properties, the six room types are self-explanatory, going from “Broom Cupboard” through Tiny, and Cozy to Medium and Bigger. They’re definitely designed for shorter, lighter-luggage stays, but all have the warm, exceptionally cozy, Soho House feel—only this time with a slightly stately, London vibe. Bigger rooms have four-poster beds and in-room bath tubs. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?Soho House is renowned for its insanely comfortable digs, and this is no exception, with custom Hypnos beds and Soho Home linen (the furnishings were so popular, they started selling the line). How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?Another thing Soho House is renowned for is its home-away-from-home extras. Here you get homemade biscuits as well as a fully stocked bathroom (see below). Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Again, dinner plate showers, fluffy Soho Home towels, and a whole range of Cowshed products, from cleanser and toner to shampoo and conditioner. There are also full-size bottles to buy (from $24). Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Free wifi. Room service: Worth it?The room service menu is exactly the same as the restaurant’s, so it’s a best-of-British feel—try the Shepherd’s Pie ($21). Staff: If you could award one a trophy, who gets it, and why? They're all lovely. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The all-day restaurant is a little Soho hub in itself. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?A taste of the Soho House lifestyle. Bottom line: worth it, and why?A fantastic hotel that plays to its strengths." - Julia Buckley
