"Ashford Castle, overlooking Lough (lake) Corrib in the Irish county of Mayo, has been around since the year 1228, but don’t go expecting an old-fashioned experience. The hotel underwent a $75 million renovation in 2015, which added a cinema, cigar room, kids’ playroom, billiard room, and wine cellars to the already-luxurious 82-room property. The crown jewel, though, is the spa, which is located in a bronze former conservatory and features a white-and-gold tile mosaic entitled “Tree of Life” next to the indoor pool."
