The Maker Hotel shared by @cntraveler says: ""The Maker Hotel, which opened in Hudson, New York, back in August, launched its own e-commerce platform earlier this month, allowing guests (and online shoppers) to buy many of the items found in the hotel—from vintage martini glasses to the very king-size beds that fill its rooms. It’s an interesting move for The Maker, but not a surprising one given its mission: The name is a nod to its design ethos, which focuses on highlighting the craftsmanship of local and global artisans, whether that be through newly commissioned pieces or vintage designs sourced from flea markets and antique dealers around the world. As a result, the 11-room hotel is a jewel box packed with design discoveries. The dimly-lit, velvet clad bar, for example, is illuminated by 1970s lights that co-owner Lev Glazman picked up in Paris; antique rugs from Morocco blanket the floors; a fireplace in the lounge was crafted by a fifth-generation furniture restorer from Hudson. The rooms, meanwhile, each have their own identity, some of which are odes to various types of 'makers'—The Artist, The Writer, The Gardener—and are filled with enough nods to La Belle Époque, Art Deco, and Mid-Century periods to prompt anyone with a healthy knowledge of design to geek out over, and if all goes to plan, start shopping."" on Postcard
