"Pizza has become the superfood of the pandemic (sorry, kale), and L.A. hospitality alums Jonathan Strader (Hatchet Hall) and Jack Leahy (Hatchet Hall/L&E Oyster Bar) couldn’t have had their fingers more on the pulse. The duo left the rat race of the city and headed to the LBC to open up their old school pizza shop with its New York-style pies along Retro Row, which has quickly become a destination for the slice obsessed. Previously, you’d be hard pressed to get an Angeleno to cross the 405 threshold going East or West, but in the pandemic, driving 45 minutes South to Long Beach seems suddenly reasonable, especially when said road trip could involve their perfect white pie topped with fresh ricotta, spinach, garlic, mozz, and Calabrian chillies. Pass the afternoon noshing on the patio and peruse the nearby vintage shops, or tote your pie and a bottle of pet nat down to the beach for a picnic for full-blown SoCal bliss."
