"The TWA Hotel, located at John F. Kennedy International Airport, is a midcentury modern-inspired hotel that has been created from the historic TWA Flight Center. It opened on May 15, nearly two decades after the terminal closed in 2001. The hotel features 512 guest rooms located in two new buildings flanking the historic terminal, with retro details like tambour walls and walnut martini bars. The Sunken Lounge, restored to its 1962 design by architecture firm Beyer Blinder Belle, offers a cocktail bar with 1960s classics. The Paris Café by Jean-Georges Vongerichten serves meals inspired by TWA in-flight menus. A repurposed Lockheed Constellation airplane serves as a cocktail lounge, and the rooftop pool provides views of planes taking off. The hotel includes a 10,000-square-foot fitness center and museum exhibitions curated by the New-York Historical Society." - Lyndsey Matthews
