"Children's book author Judy Blume and her husband, George, were among the cofounders of Books & Books,a nonprofit independent bookstore that shares space withthe Studios of Key West.Theart decobuilding that houses the arts organization once served as the Masonic Temple. Key West has a strong literary history: Authors like Ernest Hemingway, Tennessee Williams, Elizabeth Bishop, James Merrill, John Hersey, Robert Stone, Annie Dillard, and Ann Beattieall left their marks onthe city. The store is an inviting placeto linger and browse, with colorful rugs, round bar-level tables, and, of course, stacks ofbooks for sale. There are also occasional author events held."
