"After a quick pop-up stint (which created plenty of opening-day enthusiasm), Andrew Miller and chef Charles Welch debuted their hotly anticipated Logan Square restaurant in summer 2019. The 44-seat space is at once cozy and cool, outfitted in refurbished vintage chairs, modern lighting fixtures, and some velvet tufted banquette seating. Most seats enjoy a front-row view of either the bar team or chef Welch at work in the open kitchen. Either direction lets you watch masters at work: the cocktails are a collection of modernized classics (think pineapple-infused G&Ts or a mezcal negroni), and the food is a marriage of New American and Mediterranean cuisines, made even better by a wood-burning oven. Settle in for starters like lblack ime-cured Arctic char or caramelized Haloumi cheese, then dive into heartier mains like meagre bass with miso and wild rice or crispy half chicken, grilled and crisped before joining a plate prepped with apple dumplings and braised cabbage."
